Grew up in a small village in New Brunswick , Canada. Maybe a population of 2000 people at that time. I was 14 playing in a band and just getting into punk/ hardcore. They came and played at our youth center for our relatively small scene. What a blast!! I still have a black long sleeve DOA shirt from that night. It has the infamous picture of a native and a Canadian soldier stare down nose to nose…. From OKA crisis in Quebec. 🇨🇦🖕🇨🇦

Wow the best things in life led me to reply to this comment. Just saw the mahones in Sussex tonight and wow did that feel good to get out to a show! Love that keltic punk but there was a surprise in store for the gritty speedy perfectly timed percussion freak in me and DOA's Paddy Duddy was on the kit! it was a great colab!! ❤ grew up in NB and man oHhh man was the scene ever great here back in the day! Everyone wanted to play and everyone wanted to go to shows and those shows were all ages! Knox your hawk and bring a non perishable donation and you got in for free! Remember the Aberdeen? Remember George's? Rec halls all over canada supporting its young musicians even though they were a huge pain in the ass?!? Were so lucky we got to experience it we'll never see its likes again.......(or will we?!)(b@nhbab@a@)cheers 🍻

Little did I realize that when I first heard this song around 1982, that it would later become my reality. I was held against my will for over a year because of the epidemic. This forced incarceration in a "care home" was by the orders of the former gov. of NY. I had the misfortune of suffering a severe health crisis back in 2019 and was about to be released in March of 2020 when the plague hit. There was no hearing in front of a judge. Nothing.

Got Canada on my mind today. I should go out on this St. Patrick's Day and drink a Molson. D.O.A. started out in Burnaby, British Columbia, 10 miles from downtown Vancouver and released their first four song e.p .Disco Sucks in 1978. Their two classic albums, Something Better Change (1980) and Hardcore 81 (1981) immediately cemented their place in the pantheon of world punk. Touring endlessly across the U.S. they brought their incredible live shows to many a small town punk kid. I really regret never seeing them live. The Prisoner was first issued as the A-side of a 7" single in 1979 and later turned up on Something Better Change. They were a trio when this video came out in '79. Their charismatic lead singer Joey "Shithead" Keithley is a tremendous front man. , Randy Rampage bass and the monster Chuck Biscuits on drums fill out D.O.A. Don't even bother telling me you like punk if you don't like this performance

In fact I picked up a fucking squier affinity that had a maple fretboard and black body with matching pickguard. Only spent $200… just something extra. Good old DOA. Good old Joey Shithead. I am from Vancouver and regularly went to shows where these guys were playing or just watching others play. I recall meeting Joey at a bus stop on the way to seeing Iggy Pop at the UBC War Memorial venue in '69 and chatting along the way. Cool guy. He eventually gave a shot at politics. Frankly I came here looking for them doing the Petula Clarke song "Downtown" if you can imaging that hah. I saw them at the Commodore do that song warming up for the Ramones and thought it made a great Punk song. Good times.

Wow. Never heard this song before, but I’ve heard Bad Religion before. The first thing I noticed that was eerily similar was the “yeah hey!” But then I noticed that the song “No Control” is damn near plagiarism musically. This was almost a decade before Bad Religion ever threw down a “yeah hey! And No Control was exactly 10 years after this song. The influence is clear to say the very fucking least. And BR is my favorite band probably ever, so I’m not trying to down talk them. Just very surprised.
