Colonoscopies are not bad at all. I’m 34 and just got diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and had to do a colonoscopy. I was sooo scared and had to take shit ton (no pun intended) of pills to make me go to the bathroom before but that was pretty much the worst part. I mean except for the part where I woke up and was told I have Crohn’s disease. The colonoscopy was a breeze.

Avengers Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover in history. Doctors Glaucomflecken and Schmit: hold my colon.
@bitzyboo58932 жыл бұрын
Tldr (trust me, its long D:): had c diff (when your colon literally begins to rip apart) and learned that sometimes, it's just best to leave your bowel problems be and let them solve themselves :) Okay here's the full thing: So basically, October of 2019: I was turning 13 soon, so ready to start off my teen years to a good start. I had recently been noticing that there was a lot of blood and tissue-like pieces in my stool, and I felt like I constantly needed to poop. I was having bms probably every 30 minutes, but it wasn't even stool at this point that was coming out. Just blood and tissue. I was in constant pain, and for a 12 year old, it feels really scary cuz you don't know what's going on. Went to the doctor, gave them a stool sample, they said they'd get back to us in a few days. Went to a friend's 12th birthday party, got to be there for 30 minutes before my mom received a call that I had c-diff and should be quarantined until I stopped experiencing symptoms. (If you know anything about c-diff, usually old people get it in nursing homes, because you can easily contract it from taking meds, and in many cases its VERY infectious and is known to kill the elderly in some situations based on severity) they put me on really terrible tasting meds that I had to take 4 of every day for like 30 days, so I took a total of probably around 120 of these pills in a month. They worked while I was taking them, but they made water and food taste bad and in general they just caused me to be nauseous. I finally finished the meds, and I was fine for about a week, until it came back again. So in December of 2019, I began a second round of medication. This time the capsules were coated and I think I only had to take 3 a day, but they were still huge and still made stuff taste weird and gross. They produced the same results. By January of 2020, I was still having the same issues as before, but I was noticing that instances of having bloody stool were lessening and I was having less and less bowel movements as the weeks went on. We were referred to an infectious disease doctor at our local children's hospital, and she confirmed my suspicions: because the bms seemed to be less often and bloody stool was becoming less common, it seemed that not taking the meds and just letting my body handle it naturally wad the best route, and in the end, it was. This isn't to say that medicine won't help you (please don't stop taking your meds if you have a medical condition!) But if meds seem to be not helping for even making the problem worse, especially if this condition or disease is often caused by medication, try taking a little bit away from the meds if it's safe to do so. Always consult a doctor or specialist before doing this, but don't just shy away the idea of taking a break from your meds. Cuz I was dealing with this shit (haha) for 4 months, and it probably would've been fixed sooner if I would've just stopped after the first round of medication.
@doithimaceabhard74572 жыл бұрын
This is how medicine works, if you're lucky there's a test and a treatment that suits your condition but its often trial and error to get a result.
@strnglhld2 жыл бұрын
C diff isn’t when your colon rips apart, that would kill you pretty quickly.. it’s when the “bad bacteria” overtakes the “good bacteria” in your colon. I was hospitalized three times for it, took every med ever and the only thing that fixed it was a fecal transplant. YAY!
@bitzyboo58932 жыл бұрын
@@strnglhld aw man I'm sorry! Yeah, it's a bacterial infection, but the infection causes your colon to destroy itself.
@paddleduck5328 Жыл бұрын
I read about a probiotic called saccharomyces Boulardii. It’s supposed to help prevent antibiotic associated diarrhea, c diff, and travelers diarrhea. I ran across it while reading studies about c diff. It’s been trialed with vancomycin and the other antibiotic they prescribe for c diff. It’s apparently commonly prescribed in Europe and famous by a brand called florastor. I just buy it by jarrow labs at local sprouts for about $30 a bottle. It’s also available online from different makers. Whenever I have to take antibiotics for an infection, I also take Saccharomyces Boulardii. Because the antibiotic kills your bacteria including good bacteria and lets the c diff flourish. So the idea is to take a healthy bacteria (probiotic) to replenish healthy bacteria in your gut. Saccharomyces Boulardii is an unusual non typically found probiotic that is a yeast. You can get it at sprouts or online. It’s also supposed to be pretty effective at preventing travelers diarrhea if you take it when you travel outside the country. I’ll take it for for a few weeks after a course of antibiotics because supposedly it can take 3 months for your intestinal flora to replenish. I’ve also given my bottles to family members when they have to go on antibiotics or start having diarrhea. Good luck not getting c diff again, from what I understand it’s pretty scary and miserable and a lot of people end up hospitalized or even die and it likes to recur. Stay healthy and happy new year.
