I got a lot of messages and comments regarding this episode of Chicago Med. At first, I was beyond excited to see them actually portray Interventional Radiology on a very popular medical drama, HOWEVER, I think you'll be able to recognize my disappointment with....well...you'll just have to watch to know my true thoughts!
Enjoy!

You're surprised she's not in the ICU? At Chicago MED, they do triage, ER service, operate, ICU and recovery all in the ER. Its very convenient.

The most inaccurate person is Dr. Charles.... psychologists don't care that much and the usually jump to treatment for the first thing they think of, it's a guess and check field with people that don't actually care.

@@k_t530 HAHAHA That's funny..yes he's always hanging out incase the random ER patient comes in with a psych angle to their case. I joke with my wife that I never want to go to Chicago Med. No one ever has the flu, or appendicitis, or something. It always becomes a full blown event.

@@DrCellinithis is my first time coming across your channel, but I saw this comment and I'd like to suggest reacting to an ER episode where Cynthia Nixon guest starred and they treat her CVA in IRU. Yes, it's old and I'm sure medicine has progressed, but it would still be cool to get your expert opinion and reaction. Just a though. Hope you're well 😊

I used to LOVE watching medical shows like these....ER was one of my favorites back in the days. That is until I became a nurse myself and realize how inaccurate portray medical situations. Once in my pediatric lecture class in nursing school, my professor had shown us a clip of an episode of ER to teach us what NOT to do lol.

Suggest finding an agent to inform Hollywood producers that you're available to consult on medical scenes in TV shows and movies to make their fiction look real. Perhaps this show already has a team of docs which do this but lacks an IR. Perhaps there are established outfits which offer this service that you can join.

Thought modern day medical shows had doctors/nurses consultants to be sure everything was accurate. My mother, may G_D rest her soul, was a RN, and laughed at General Hospital and Medical Center soap operas, because it showed all the doctors and nurses gathering around the nurses' station gossiping. That never happened in real life as they were all busy working!

ED Paramedic here……………………. Yes reading people is quite important. We try to make the ED a safe place for people because they come in during a vulnerable time in their life. Sometimes people who shouldn’t be with the patient come with and have or will cause harm to the patient. It’s important that we read people to make the space and the time in the ED the best for the patient. Sometimes families are great because they can provide good info or they can be a hinderance.

You know, aside from the x-ray that comes up on the screen looking nothing like it should based on the way the x-ray tech was pretending to take the x-ray/the fact that the patient was still fully clothed in heavy jackets and zippers 😂
