Great reaction as always. Regarding Dr. Cox and Carla: in the first season Cox had a crush on Carla and in one of the episodes it's revealed they had gone out on a date years before JD and Turk got there, but Carla didn't feel anything so it didn't go anywhere. After season 1 it's not really brought up much after that. 🔴🔴🔴

It's more realistic that way. She didn't have feelings for him, but they were adults about it and moved on. They tried, it didn't work so no biggie. Happens a lot.

Interesting production note. When they were shooting the "lonely" version of the hospital, they didn't have to do anything to the existing sets. Because they were working out of an abandoned hospital anyway, they just went to another floor they hadn't been using and shot a few scenes in among the rubbish. Also, a little side note about Donald Faison's dancing skills. In another episode he improvised a dance to Ted's air band, and people liked it so much the developers of Fortnite bought the rights to it to use as their default dance.

What I love is that in hindsight, all the treatment Nick prescribes is largely aimed at covering up the child's symptoms rather than fixing the problem. Steroids for a rash... anti-emetics for vomiting... antibiotics for a fever. The reason he got sick in the first place is never mentioned. Fits totally with the theme that sometimes people have deeper issues than what appears on the surface.

This is exactly why Scrubs was the best sitcom ever made, in my opinion. It's not just cheap laughs. They make you cry. And the lows make the highs all the more powerful.

I lost my baby sister just before she turned 5 months old, two weeks before my dad's birthday. The story is so unbelievable.... On the positive side, my baby girl was born a few months ago, 2 days before my sister's birthday. The picture of my father holding her is so beautiful! You can see his smile through his facemask!

I always liked the scene with Elliot crying in private before going back to work. I have always found crying to be a very important step in dealing with any tough situation. It feels really messy and painful while you’re doing it, but the clarity that comes afterwards is amazing.

Carla's and Perry's relationship isn't a mentor-type. They're more equal than that and Cox truly respects her. She keeps him in check a lot throughout the series. They bust each other's balls, but there's a lot of love there. I think it's a pretty prime example of a plutonic male/female friendship.

I had emergency abdominal surgery last year and watching this I thought "Hope they didn't knick the colon." But then I remembered it was a strangulated hernia and they had to remove and resection a part of the colon that had started to go necrotic... so actually I'm glad they did cut the colon. Must have smelled terrible though.

Regarding the question about dog shows - Yes, they check that male dogs have 2 descended testicles. I have known a lot of breeder-exhibitors, and one told me of a show-quality German Shepherd Dog who was monorchid. The owner actually convinced a plastic surgeon to insert a prosthetic testicle into the dog's scrotum so it could be shown. Unfortunately, 6 weeks later the 2nd testicle descended, and the dog was once more not allowed in the show ring. Dog show people have the BEST stories.

I doubt you'll read this. But the emotions you show and clearly feel are powerful to me. I hope you never lose that as a doctor. And to a lesser extent as a youtuber. It shows how much you care. And I think caring as a doctor is important. I had an appendectomy a few years back, and I met with the OR Staff before I was taken in. And right before, I was one on one with just the main surgeon and he asked me I had any other questions. I said no, but asked that he do a good job, I was afraid. I knew then and know now, how relatively easy and safe my surgery was, but that didn't change my fear of my first ever surgery. He was very sympathetic. He looked at me, not offended at all, and said he would do his very best for me. I still remember that caring and emotion to this day, 5 or whatever years later, and I suspect I'll always remember that care. To sum up, as a patient, the caring my doctors showed me made a big deal to me. And I hope you keep that caring forever. Truly I do. We live in different countries and will never meet. But I want to say thank you. Not for youtube (tho thanks for the cool and interesting content) but for being a doctor at all, and one who cares. You will add much happiness and healthy-ness to this world. And that is deeply admirable.

🔴🔴🔴 thanks doc! While this is far from my favorite scrubs episode this may be my favorite reactions you’ve done so far!! Your discussion at the end commenting on how you can get rattled when you see your supervisors vulnerable was really powerful. Plus, I’m just learning about how histamines help catalyze inflammation by creating intercellular pathways so I was wicked excited to here you talk about histamines and mast cells!! Great reaction!! If I could recommend more scrubs, specifically My Last Words from Season 8… very good. I was a kid i was in hospital for a long time and got to know my surgeon pretty well. One night he showed up to my room unexpectedly. he said he was passing and just thought he'd check in, which wasn't unusual, he was there most hours, he wouldnt even holiday far away from the hospital. anyway my mum saw somethign was up and when she asked if there was any other reason and he told us that he'd lost a baby in theatre. she hugged him and told him how good i was doing and the other kids on the ward were going, which i think was what he was looking for. he obviously knew we were doing well, he was the reason we were, but it helped.

I think what Dr. Cox meant by lowers heart rate is after a little bit has passed. Cause yes it raises your heart rate in the moment but after your endorphins have been released you tend to level out. Which I believe a lot of people fall asleep or get tired after sex/masturbating.

I’m thinking more like Sweden and less authoritarianism. No liability protection for Big Parma, no threatening the medical licenses of doctors who treated COVID patients to the best of their knowledge, no ordering medical personnel to ignore COVID vaccine reactions, no coercion to take experimental vaccines (they all are as the approved one has yet to be made available for distribution) no censorship, no denying patients advocates in the hospital, no destruction of small business and landlords to the benefit of corps like Blackrock, no keeping people from fresh air, exercise, and the SUN from which we make essential immune boosting vitamin D…we pretty much should have done the opposite of what was done instead of screwing with billions of lives based on the school paper of a 14 year old.

Erythema migrans usually is a dead ringer for Lyme disease, transmitted by ticks. It is also referred to as bullseye rash because of the looks when it spreads away from the puncture. Happened to 30 years ago. It turned into a nice little neuro borelliosis after a few weeks including the obligatory facialis paresis. Lyme was considered extinct in the region i lived so naturally doctors assumed little 14yo. me was just making things up. It took a young newly made resident to remember the textbook passages. When lab results came back at midnight i was hooked up to an ungodly amount of bottles and bags left and right :D What i want to say is: you are not alone in that, but i would really like to see more awareness. Even if it is just "That rash looks odd, i better look it up right away". Could have saved me a lot of pain back then.

Yes, in the early seasons, Cox had a crush on Carla. It was one of the weirder subplots, but they never really spent much time on it so it's easily forgettable.

There's nothing more humbling than watching a God be utterly, devastatingly human.
