The Marvel Cinematic Universe meets horror in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Directed by Sam Raimi - whose last venture into the world of superheroes was with Spider-Man 3 - from a screenplay by Michael Waldron, Doctor Strange 2 is visually surprising. It dares to do what other MCU films have not, elevating its effects and cinematography in a way that distinguishes it from its predecessors. The action sequences are fun and, paired with the film’s visual style and horror elements, it fares well enough, though the personal journeys are lacking.
Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is having bizarre dreams, seeing America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) and a ponytailed version of himself running towards something and away from the gruesome monster chasing them. What Doctor Strange soon realizes is that it isn’t a dream at all; what he is experiencing is another universe altogether. It doesn’t take long for the sorcerer and Wong (Benedict Wong), now Sorcerer Supreme, to meet America in their world. She is being chased by creatures working for someone who is attempting to steal her powers, which allow her to travel between every multiverse dimension. She joins Wong and Doctor Strange, who attempts to recruit Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), now the Scarlet Witch, as they work to find the Book of the Vishanti, a powerful book containing magic that would allow them to stop their new adversary before the multiverse is put in any danger.

This movie had horror elements that were implemented nicely. It had some really campy moments but that to me gave it a comic book vibe which I kinda like. The movie had moments that were incredibly serious for MCU but also had moments where it didn’t take itself too seriously. It was a multiverse movie that was easy to follow too

I did quite like it though yeah I'd definitely wouldn't take kids to see it. There were at least a few families that had there children with them. I just hope they had there eyes closed. (Side note during the parts that weren't ment to be taken seriously my relative got pissy due to some people laughing behind us and she was all annoyed and stuff "its not ment to be funny! Blah blah bla" I'm like: "please relax...just enjoy the movie." )

Strange is the one story arc they can use to bring in any character they want. He had a role in Spiderman, after the first movie mentioned the Multiverse, now they're going to bring bits of What If into the MCU, X-Men, and other properties.

Saw it today! 🇯🇵 Much darker than I thought it would be, much gorier, and the marketing team got sneaky with us again… the story isn’t what the trailers make it out to be 👀 The solution to a certain someone’s issue at the end seemed a bit contrived, but the rest was extremely good! Psychological horror, gore, existential angst and lots of emotional pain await.

I just watched it too. It was great but I was expecting more. That is I guess my fault for falling for an edited trailer that had Strange running into Wolverine escaping from the Weapon X facility and Ghost Rider stepping out of a portal. Was waiting for those scenes all through out the movie and then I thought they were in the post credit scenes but nope.

I mean, they have Rachael McAdams, in an atrocious wig, utter the line, "Go back to hell" before firing a light beam, like she's Arnie in one of his cheesier films from the 90's - and that's the very least of it's offensiveness - but sure. Great. Film.

Director Sam Raimi previously added two references to the character Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 2 (2004): Joe's Pizza (where Peter Parker is working at the beginning) and the billboard showing Mary Jane are located on Bleecker Street - the street where Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum is located. The title of Doctor Strange was suggested to J. Jonah Jameson as a possible name for Dr. Octavius, to which Jameson replies "But it's taken!"

Great observation yeah this is a standard trick that writers and directors advocate within a shared universe or solo franchise. It’s called foreshadowing but in this case these are Easter eggs.

This was a pretty good movie! 100% would watch again for the thrill, amazing cinematics and visuals, and complex storyline behind the multiverse! It incorporated some horror and darkness into it, which leaves you with chills going down your spine, and anxiously waiting to see what the characters will do. Elizabeth Oslen stole the show and this movie did an amazing job of incorporating spin-off TV shows' themes and concepts that add a juicy element into the plot and its characters. However, the movie did come out as very different than I expected it to be when I watched the trailers, so props to MCU for concealing the storyline, but also bringing in the unexpected XD

@@roxanny-danny-doo3203 you won’t be completely lost but it’s definitely the most vital thing to watch before this, honestly even more vital than doctor strange 1. Not trying to spoil but it adds a lot more nuance to the characters. And wandavision is incredible and a must watch just by itself.

My thoughts are that this movie seems convoluted like it has tried to do too much in 2 hours, but who knows? Maybe it will be like the avengers and manage to weave the stories of all the characters into one coherent narrative. I hope that's the case!

Let me get straight to the point, most reviewers that watched this movie have stated that this movie is a hit or miss depending on whether you like Sam Raimi's style of directing. If you prefer visuals, aesthetics, themes, this one is for you. If you prefer a great storyline, writing, pacing, development, probably not. Right now, this movie is rated at 8/10 from first watchers. Most reviewers, even the critics have told that Elizabeth Olsen's performance stole the show, so props to her for giving her all into it. The cameos is what we expected, it's best to avoid the internet if you want to watch it safely

@Jason Rivera Watch the KZfaqrs: Beyond the trailer, John campea, IGN, 3C Films, The Reel Rejects, The Flick Pick, GetJaby, joblo originals They literally talked about the movie and gave in their thoughts, they've been given early access since reviewing the movie is part of their job lol. Don't be ignorant, I'm just saying what was said by them and you should have the knowledge of people having early access to the movie. I'm also saying this since many people have high expectations for it and it can only go downhill from there. Don't get your hopes up or you'll be disappointed. You can love the movie which I don't mind at all, but know for a fact that there will be issues, poor writing, quality, screen time, cinematography etc, which you need to be mindful about. I only hope for the movie to gain its success it deserves and people will love it for their money's worth.

@Jason Rivera The reviewers the person is referring to is New Rockstars, Emergency Awesome, Reel Rejects and more. The press basically. The press always get early access to the movies before their premiere date to give critics time to review it.

Well the first Spider-Man movies were pretty good story wise and pacing wise. 3 was step or 3 down but his directing has decent story telling so I’m sure this one is fine. Having movie critics is stupid. Everyone will have their own opinion. I’ve disagreed with 90% of the movie critics on every movie I’ve ever seen.

If the leaks are right , people will be disappointed. The expectations that everyone has made about the movie and cameos has gone overboard. It’s better to remember that this movie is about Wanda and Strange.

Its seems to be more about Wanda than Strange...She is corrupted by the Darkhold & is looking for her kids, she wants Chavez's powers to travel through the multiverse... Strange is just busy solving everybody's issues meanwhile he isn't getting a new direction and development in MCU🥲

Done watching the movie, and it was mind blowing. This is the very definition of fanservice. So much action haooening in the first 39 minutes of the movie alone. It is a true horror movie with superhero elements. I won't spoil anything, unless you guys want me too lol 😂

I think the trailers are tricking us. I think there are actually 3 versions of Wanda. MCU Wanda, Wanda who didn't lose Vision and Wanda who lost their mind due to Vision's death.
