Opinion: The Silence are the best villains to be introduced to the show since the Weaping Angels.

Moffat always knows how to write a terrifying monster. Vashta Nerada (carnivorous shadows from The Library), the Weeping Angels, and now these aliens (No *SPOILERS* for first time viewers).

Eric's WTF face, is my favorite face. Their confusion brings me joy.

I think most people, when faced with danger, will instinctively look over their shoulder very quickly, just to check if there might be more danger, and if we have a potential escape route. I don't think Rory was planning to turn around and talk to River at length, I think he was just instinctively looking over his shoulder without even thinking about it. Under any other circumstance he would have looked away and then instantly looked back again in less than as second. But because the memory loss effect kicked in as soon as he took his eyes off the hallway, he forgot what he was doing and why he was turning around halfway through the motion. Obviously different people respond to danger in different ways, and it also depends on what the danger actually is, but I could totally imagine myself doing the same thing in his position. If it was a snake or a spider, like Shane and Calvin mentioned, then I'd keep my eyes on it, since I already know what snakes and spiders are, and I know they can move really fast if you don't watch them closely. But if I saw a tall-ass alien monster in a fucking suit, I'm pretty sure I might flash my eyes away from it at least for an instance because I wouldn't really know how to respond properly.

Speaking of accents, you guys should hear John Barrowman speaking in his Scottish accent!!

You guys are about to witness a series that will almost certainly blow every other series out of the water for you guys. Especially knowing how analytical you guys have been of the rest of the show. Even when you don't know what's happening at first, when it's revealed or explained, you will almost certainly be in awe. Series 6 should be the perfect series for the ways your guys' minds work.

And so begins of the best, most intense, stressful, mind blowing, heartbreaking, theory cracking, seasons of this show! I remember the year everyone was freaking out cause shit got dialed up to 11 already on just episode 1 and this plot stays thru the season so you aren't gonna get a resolution for a whole year! This two parter is still one of my favs and i can't wait for episode 7 P.S. i actually visited that spot where the Doctor meets Amy Rory and River next to Monument Valley!

The reason Doctor Who is referred to as "Series" rather than "Seasons" isn't so much to do with it being a British show, it's more to do with the fact that the 'classic series' refers to it's episodes groups as "Seasons", so for example Season 6 of Doctor Who actually happened in 1968, whereas Series 6 happened in 2011. I guess it's just a way to stop people from getting confused, but in fact has actually made it more confusing for some overseas audiences 😂

I'm so excited for series 6. It is honestly one of my favourites (which is definitely in part because I have a lot of nostalgia for it - it was when I caught up to the show). And this two-parter is one of my favourite series-openers. Glad you all enjoyed it, despite (and maybe because) all the confusion and WTF-faces. Oh and I'm glad the guys are pointing out things like beautiful shots and the music - I love that stuff in this one. Also, that discussion had me trying to cover up my laughter so much that my sister came in to check on me since she thought I was crying. While it didn't really stick to the point, it was amazing. "HOW DID THE BEAR GET IN THE ROOM?!" - classic Blind Wave. And the reaction too of course. Aaron must have had so much fun watching the chaos unfold. And yes, that is indeed Mark Sheppard's dad. I usually say this, but I'm SO HYPED FOR NEXT WEEK.

A little side note, the American diner is actually real. It's in Wales and just a short distance from the studios where they filmed the show.

To be fair with River, they were sleeping/sitting around when she came across them, so she wasn’t just going to scream and wake them all up

I love this episode. Especially River. I think this struck a better chord with what I liked about her in Silence in the Library. Alo, the flirting between her and The Doctor (in the next episode too) is so fun, and he's kind of playing along. (Even with his whole "trust you?" thing)

YES, welcome to series 6! So confusing but amazing. Definitely my favourite series with all the twists and turns it has. I have $5 subscription, may have to wait for all the episodes to be out, then get $10 for a month and re-watch them all, because every episode is good and the full length of this episode made it soooo good as the reactions were so funny and epic. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

I think the reason why they didn't immediately scream when they saw the monster because they didn't want to scream until they were sure it wasn't following them. If the monster hadn't really noticed or cared about them, screaming immediately would be a surefire way to draw attention to themselves. It's usually better to quietly back away and close the door and *then* scream.

Oh, damn... I haven't rewatched these episodes in three years, but I've seen all of Supernatural in that time. It never once hit me that Crowley was Delaware... o_O Oh, and I almost forgot about this part: 10:40 One of the most hilariously cringey moments in all of New Who. "Whaaat'rrree yyyoouuuu dooooinn'?" "Ssaaavinnn' yooouurr liiiiffffe!"

I think what Calvin meant about Amy being pregnant last episode is that in the beginning they said the ship has 4000 passengers and towards the end Doctor said 4003 so that's Amy, Rory and the kid (I also noticed it myself when I was rewatching it knowing that she's pregnant)

Can't wit for the next episode, especially the ending of next episode what a cliff hanger. The aliens are called the silence and they were based off those aliens from the scream painting.

They used Mark Shephard's father to play the older Canton; they'd tried aging Mark using prosthetics, but it looked like prosthetics. So they got his real dad to play his older self.

You generally want to turn in the direction of the person you are talking to so that they can actually hear you clearly. He would have turned right back in a second if he hadn't forgotten.

Also there was an episode shortly after Rory joined the team where she was literally pregnant... The doctor subconscious is the one that created the dreams so subconsciously he knew that putting them on the tardis together right next to their wedding would lead to such things

This is Doctor Who. The LAND of bootstrap paradoxes. Also, I love this season. These four main characters are what I think of when I think of Doctor Who.

They're definitely father and son. I love when they play older and younger versions of the same character but both are brilliant character actors in their own right as well. So glad you're enjoying 11!

This arc - and the rest of the season - are kind of a mixed bag, but I gotta say, I absolutely love Canton, and Nixon is hilarious too.
