Quite right.....some people the Doctor's companions were all screamers who were helpless,but it was actually rarely the case!

Leela and Ace are great. Someone should do a Big Finish story with those two.

Over the last couple of years I've watched the classic series with Hartnell and his female companions are very resourceful and active in their characterisation. Of course, they are written from a different culture and time, but so are the men!

@@anthonybailey1966 there was a bit of a let down when saward took the rains of doctor who. I still think that jo grant, sarah jane and romana were peak female companion, before Ace ( Ace is a bit of a blueprint for modern companions)

To be honest, I think some people were going to dislike Jodie's era regardless of the quality of the writing. Personally, I really enjoyed her era and found it really fun.

@@jaydee4697 While that's true, the overall quality of Jodie's era was the worst the show has been in a long time (and that's coming off of Capaldi's very hit and miss era).

To be fair, it's possible to be a fan of the Thirteenth Doctor and not a fan of the writing. Eccleston seems to like Whittaker in particular, which is admirable.

Or - and I'm guessing this will be a hard concept for you to grasp, so I'll try and keep it as very simple as possible - he just has a different opinion. See, I get that. I'm not a fan of RTD's writing on Who, on account that I'm not a teenager from the noughties with a tumblr account full of gifs of the 10th Doctor and Edward Cullen trying to out broody-bad-boy each other. But I do understand that a lot of people, presumably yourself included actually enjoy that kind of angst-for-emo-kids "Oh, the paaaaain of my tortured existence" driven Doctor Who. And to that I say, good for you!! Enjoy what you enjoy and let other people do the same. 🤗
