It' telling when the monstors of this story are literally just letting people walk into their mouths. They don't even seem aggressive at all, they just wiggle around until they run into food. These people are so braindead, and have so little survival instinct that literal slugs are their biggest ops.

Too many people interpret the scream as anger. It's not. It's frustration. It's disbelief. It's knowing you can't do anything, even if you have all the power and sense. He's grieving at the loss of human life. Easily wasted. He's not angry. He's disappointed and sad. He's powerless here to do any good.

The thing I noticed about 15th is that, after being bi-generated, he has such a strong sense of survival that the moment he sees someone who chooses to risk their lives for a stupid reason he gets incredibly angry. It happened with the anglican soldiers in Boom and now with the finetime citizens. Ruby just understands that it's pointless, but the Doctor still hopes that saving them would be enough to end their bigotry, that their survival instinct would be stronger then their entitlement

Once I realized that, I completely recontextualized the whole episode and noticed how obvious it was. Incredible writing in my opinion.

After Ncuti's casting, I started to hope that there would be an episode where the Doctor's race would be an issue (like when Thirteen had issues because she was a woman in The Witchfinders). I didn't think RTD would have the guts to put it in a futuristic, social-media influencer based episode instead of one of the historical episodes. @@joemackley7894 I think this episode hit me really hard because I didn't realize what was happening until this moment, and then it hit me all at once, that's why they hated him. This episode was actually a really interesting look at how class and race kind of intersect. All of the people on that planet were selected because they were in the 1%, and that meant underprivileged black people either weren't there or were very rare, and so the racism - which is really just a fear of what's different - manifested in them. They never pointed it out directly, but so it took me by surprise until it all clicked in place, and made me think about signs that I might miss in real life.

I think people are forgetting that 12 saved a young Davros and 10 tried to save a dying davros. The doctor wants to save people no matter what, he wants them to have an opportunity to survive and live. He has more honour and patience than any human ever will. That’s why he’s so frustrated at the end, not because they’re racist but because their racism means they’ll never listen to him and will get themselves killed.

I just want to clarify, what im about to say doesnt come from a position of mocking, but appreciation. Ncuti screaming in anger left such a powerful impact, and although he did have a bit of spit, it reminded me so much of Andrew Lincoln back in the Season 7 premiere of TWD with the famous snot bubble incident. But you can see just how much energy they put into these performances, and how they give 100% and just let out this pure, very real emotion. There was no dressing up or trying to make this reaction look pretty or dignified, because it came from a place of pure anger, and felt very real, and it needed to. I dont know how anyone with a serious face can say Ncuti cant act, when we get this very incredible performance. Even that music with Golds score blew me away. He's potentially hundreds of thousands of years old, and he can't even compute the interaction he just had. He doesn't know how to react, he doesn't know how to emotionally express his feelings properly, and so he chuckles in disbelief and screams. You can see how he almost regrets his efforts to help everyone.

It's brilliant. It's truly brilliant. Like acting aside from Ncuti giving the Doctor this tormented, frustrated disbelief and pain, the commentary on not just social media but prejudice, discrimination, is both loud and clear. Here's someone aiming to help, extending a hand, and it was slapped down in a feat of disgusting narcissism and judgement. EDIT: I just picked up on the line "turn away ladies, before we're contaminated." That there struck me harder than it should. It's horrifying to know that people out there still exist with no remorse. And the embarrassment Ruby showed after the Doctor had a breakdown... I swear this episode should go down as one of the most progressive, prominent entries in all of Doctor Who.

Thats the real kicker. He could save them ALL, he could. Its not even like a timer thing now. All they have to do is accept the help... But they wont. Because theyre white supremacists and hes not 'one of them'. Its absurd, which is why the doctor laughs. It makes absolutely no sense to him that anything but a Dalek would walk straight into death rather than accepting help. I guess you could say they werent willing to lower that last bubble, thr ine that encompassed their very view of the world. If they could drop that last hurdle, accept yhtat they were wrong one more time, they could be safe. But now that death isnt directly behind them, they want the 'safety' of their bubble. Not realizing that just like before, that bubble is going to send them straight to their death. Theyll probably realize it right before they die

I think this episode has something a little darker to say about Gen Z. That a world of micro aggressions and "be kind" can hide some very old and dark prejudices. It's telling in the end they despise Gnuti, they just don't have the language to express what they so obviously feel.

Ncuti’s really killing it in his first season. He really shows of 9 and 12s range of anger in this ending like this is one of those rare times in the series where The Doctor actually kind of loses and considering that he was still filming Sex Education at the time and couldn’t be fully available yet, he really embraces the role. While the episode didn’t go into what I thought Russell was going comment on about social media, but in a way he do show off how the wrong parts of the internet and lack of social interaction in person can effect the independence and world view of someone to the point where they criticise about minorities online as part of the anti-woke reactionary groups on KZfaq and Twitter. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why Lindy turned down The Doctor not just because he’s an outsider to those of Finetime, but because her time in a social media thought bubble and rich privileges have possibly given her a questionable opinion on POC. Maybe I’m missing something or overthinking the ending. Please correct me if am. Still, enjoyed the episode. Solid 7 or 8 out of 10.

From the start I loved how he reminds me of 9. And while I mostly compare this to Waters of Mars, I think this is specially the opposite "Everyone lives" for 15. His desperation to save them all, how easy it could be. How safe they already are... But instead, they all go to a certain death to the Doctor's knowledge. Specially strong if we think how the doctor, up to this point, has only presenced one guy's death. Up to this point, he had been victorious in saving most people and those who died were out of the Doctor's view and reach... Just for him to lose all his work here. Gatwa is so great and is kind of fun seen how these people try to do gymnastics to justify him as a bad Doctor.

Can you imagine for the doctor to be able to save everyone like he's done for over 2000 years but for the very first time he's on the recieving end of racism and prejudice and yet he still tries to help them and Ncuti conveys that perfectly and brilliantly and sadly im guessing using some of his own personal experiences with said subjects to convey it to the point where its not even acting. This is one of the highlights of the season so far especially in that doctor outfit instead of one of his more less doctory outfits

I love literally everything about this scene. I love the cold, dumbfounded expressions of the Funtimers (is that what we’re calling them?) when the Doctor proposes them traveling with him. I love the Doctor’s reactions of disbelief and frustration that such a human constructed concept of racism is leading to a group of people dooming themselves in front of his eyes. Out of everything, though, my favorite part of this scene has to be right at 2:46, as Ruby walks away and the Doctor stands, crying in pain and dismay. Obviously the Funtimers are vile people to the core, this is never doubted by the episode and both Ruby and the Doctor are well aware of this fact. The difference between the two is that while Ruby takes one look at these disgusting racists and says “I’m going to stay to comfort the Doctor, and not a second more”, the Doctor has never, will never, could never turn his back on people, no matter how awful. But he knows that they’ve made their choice - an idiotic, bigoted, and naive choice, yes, but a choice nonetheless - and he can’t do anything about it now. All the Doctor can do is stand and watch. So that’s what he does. It’s honestly such a powerful moment that made this scene all the better in my opinion.

It was chilling to watch the scene as I realised what was happening at the end, it's pretty cleverly conveyed throughout the episode and suddenly all the dots laid out aligned for me. It's even more chilling when you understand the episode and realise they are sailing to their deaths and still the doctor wants to save them despite what they think. That and the fact we haven't seen 15 have a sort of 'flush of anger' akin to some other Doctors just makes the scene all the more unnerving.

I could be reading too deep into this, but I think even the episode name, "Dot and Bubble", is a clue as to this episode's racism theme. I wasn't keen on the title initially because, honestly, I just didn't think it rolled off the tongue very well. However in the context of the story, not only is everyone living in their own bubbles (as represented literally in the episode), but the "dot" to them is anyone outside the bubble; a mere spec of light in the background of their otherwise purposefully-clouded vision (again, as represented here by the dot always hovering just outside of their bubbles). It's like… no wonder the dots grew to hate everyone on this planet!

Ncuti’s quickly becoming one of my favourite Doctors. This scene (especially with it being his first) makes me want to cuddle him! The Doctor has witnessed many prejudices over the years, but this time, with a black actor portraying the character, this makes the first to actually experience the poisonous social/cultural stigma concerning racial bias. And the fact that he still wants to save them in spite of their hatred while Ruby immediately distances herself from those people…. Poor 15, I choked for his frustration. This is among the few instances where the people the Doctor saves are ungrateful due to their unhinged privileges.
