Hey Paul. Doctor Who content from you is always great, but I like your blu ray round ups you do, and also reviews of other classic TV material on disk is always welcome too. RE: Celestial Toymaker, have picked this up but not seen it yet (I gather there is also a new photo recon on it that's nice and sharp and with a few brief animated bits). I do agree some of the over reaction to the animation has been a bit over the top (though the preview bits did look a bit rough) and that yes, this is an ideal one to experiment on because of the fantasy world aspect. I'd also say you're right about how they go about these. I never expect them to be full re-creations, especially when they can tell the story better with some re-interpreted animated scenes.

Wasn't my favourite of the animated reconstructions, but I wasn't mad at it. Good to have the story accessible again even if it's hampered by the limited limited Doctor screen time. I also watched it in black and white as I normally do, but this is one of the few animations I might bother to revisit in colour.

Hi Paul another great review I bought the Steel book version of The Celestial Toymaker not seen it yet but looking forward in viewing it. I love your Doctor Who videos anything to do with Doctor Who especially Classic Doctor Who and I also like your Pick up Collectables and book cd review videos as well. I don’t really watch your Film and cinema reviews. Please more Doctor who and pick up videos 😀👍 But it’s your channel and I will always be a Subscriber of it 😀👍

Lovely review as always Paul. I have bought this but not watched it yet, but I intend to soon. I personally love the animations, in spite of the fact that they are not always the best, because it is a way of bringing the lost 60s stories back to some sort of life, and some of them have worked really well, Evil of the Daleks being my personal favourite. I actually think this looks one of the more interesting animations though and it's a story that has always interested me so am very much looking forward to it. In terms of your channel I kind of think you should review what YOU want to review. It is your world of stuff after all. But obviously Who is always going to get more views. Anyway please keep going. I thoroughly enjoy your reviews. :)

I don't think any of the animations so far have been great but they are still better than the telesnap videos we used to have.by the way are you related to RTD as you have the same mannerisms and sound just like him!
@CardiffOneOneАй бұрын
@@jonrobinson3262 No, it's probably just a Welsh thing!!

I really liked it - ok the likenesses are a bit off but the animation itself is superb and a lot easier to follow than telesnaps

The nightmare fair was eventually made by big finish i think

Great video! Do you think it is worth getting. I found the 4th episode not too bad but my grandparents (who watched the episode when it first aired) found it boring and also were quite scared when they saw the episode the first time, especially when daleks showed up. You have a new sub from me :)

Thank you, welcome aboard! I was in two minds about buying the story but as I've bought all the others I thought I might as well. The animation will be divisive...I quite liked it because it suits the weird nature of the story but some might hate it!! I'd say it's worth a shot...

@@CardiffOneOne I think I will get it but I think that the animation is good for some but not for others.

You are incorrect regarding the available visual reference materials for the Celestial Toymaker. Although there were no John Cura tele-snaps taken for this story, in addition the surviving episode 4, there are many beautiful colour reference photos taken on-set by the design team during the Celestial Toymaker studio production, which are easily available to guide animators or others in any reconstruction; many of these photographs have appeared in various Doctor Who publications over the years (going all the way back to Peter Haining's 1984 A Celebration book), and these colour images are much more detailed than the standard black & white tele-snaps that exist for other missing stories/episodes.

Thanks but I believe I referred to the numerous colour photographs when I ran through the special features on the Blu-ray.

Will you be reviewing The Tales of The Tardis featuring pyramids of mars?

That's an idea...

I'll take these over RTD's proposed colourized omnibus versions of classic stories. I watched the first one, The Daleks, and thought it pointless and will not be buying anymore that are released. I'd forgotten the Celestial Toymaker was in The Giggle. Mind you having hated The Star Beast we chose not to bother with the other two episodes, or indeed any later Ncuti stories.

First one of these Ive not bought and, unless I find a copy for a fiver, I will never buy it. It looks dreadful from the clips Ive seen. Like a mid 90s PC computer game. If they want my money in future, they need to stop messing around with the classics. Its like the core shows been ruined, so lets ruin the classics 🤷♂️.
@CardiffOneOne18 күн бұрын
Sigh. The core show's not been ruined. And until you actually take the time to watch Celestial Toymaker properly, not just clips, you're in absolutely no position to comment on it. Don't be so precious.
