Here's the thing... the creators say race-changing historical figures like this is to make little kids feel included. But what a rude awakening they'll have when they learn the truth. they majorly missed an opportunity to have a call-back to a Capaldi episode and have the ship be the ship from world enough and time since the world enough and time ship was about to enter a black hole and likely then enter the void, matching the setting of the wild blue yonder ship and both ships look almost identical. the plot could have been something the doctor and donna have to destroy a ship full of dormant evolved cybermen before it escapes the void to get to earth while they're being hunted by a hyper advanced cyberman. Would've been a great way of actually tying the story into the rest of the dr who universe and a good inclusion of a classic villain for the anniversary

Actually, the reason why the Doctor was a couple days in the future when he returned at the end of the episode, is because I actually don’t know why. I mean, we learn in the giggle that the Toymaker is back, and that the world is shitting itself more than usual, but it’s never said or shown that the Toymaker is the one fucking with the Tardis. A possible counter argument of the Tardis taking the Doctor where he needs to go not where he want to go isn’t valid either, considering that it would make more sense for the Tardis to take the Doctor to the time before the situation got really bad.

At least you highlighted NOTICEABLY that the Intellectual dishonesty and trolling of the License Payer goes ALL THE WAY back to the Moffat + Piers Wenger axis and notably Capaldi's complicity in reading crap out for money(!) - which is surprising as someone who also writes and directs would maybe have have shown the same integrity that Eccleston did with the Production Team (which is why I started to go off nu Who very gradually at that point). As for the bit at the end - mixed feelings as the Cribbins thing couldn't be helped: he OFFICIALLY was supposed to do another scene and was a little infirm when they were doing what they could at the time; it's also established lore that the TARDIS is unreliable so the fact that it couldn't go back to a fixed point isn't a contradiction with with older material?

To be fair to the Wilfred cameo, I think all of the reminiscing and catching up would have been done in the Giggle. Bernard Cribbins’ death prevented that, so they were stuck with the choice of whether to remove Wilfred from the specials entirely or give the fans the moment of seeing him again. Personally I’m glad they did the second option. The lack of a proper catch up is one of the few flaws that BBC and Disney are faultless for.

It is rebel flesh, without support cast, interaction with the enviroment, stake, end moral of the story. Some ugly wierd shit happens in a less than convincing CG enviroment untill the whole crap is get blown up. No fighting. No conflict. No clever plan. It just 2 copy trying to scare the protagonists for knowledge without hurting them. It was as scary and atmoshperic as a Garfield Halloween special. It was almost mid tier to me, except the mavity "joke" made it a little bit worse. Btw, Newton dint invent the word gravity

The 50th anniversary was a good ending to the entire franchise, and if you are a fan of only the classical era of Doctor Who then the Seventh Doctor and Ace "walking into the sunset" moment implying that the adventure continues right after the show is no longer on screen is also the perfect ending to the franchise. The Doctor had a good run, let him rest.

I remember the scene where Tennant and Smith are bouncing around like stupid idiots who ought to be bounced into space asking what the "round things" in the walls are for and the other says he doesn't know. And Tennant, who claims he was a fan of the Fifth Doctor's era and married the daughter of the guy who played the Fifth Doctor, where we saw very clearly what the "round things" were for, allowed these stupid lines to be spoken on screen. And I just want Moffat and Tennant and Smith and Davies and the show ended. It doesn't matter that I've been watching and reading since 1978, there's nothing good left here. Now it's nothing but lies and horrors.

Stop acting like the TV show is the only aspect of the franchise that matters. The audio adventures are still going strong and are typically better than the TV show, even when it was good. Support a GOOD aspect of the franchise for a change.

Other than a bare passing reference, the other media don't impact on the show (there's one exception: when Steven Moffat stole from the books of the 90s and 2000s for, say, the "Human Nature" episode). The way the show goes - currently, into hell - affects how everything else goes.

...Which is why the most recent audios are still receiving overwhelming praise from fans who've given up on the show. Honestly, have you listened to the most recent releases of the Eleventh Doctor Chronicles? Or Christopher Eccelston's Ninth Doctor adventures(Yes, it's really him)? Some of them are better than any of their actual tv episodes. The audios have a much larger variety of writers, most of whom are actual fans who care about the franchise instead of the corporates who run the tv show. Also, wtf do you mean Human Nature/Family of Blood is the only example!? Dalek was an adaptation of a popular audio story, The Haunting of Villa Diodati was a loose adaptation of TWO popular audio stories, THE STAR BEAST WAS MARKETED AS AN ADAPTATION OF A POPULAR COMIC STORY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Anyway, the audios will likely continue on even if the show gets cancelled because that's what happened before and it worked out.

1:35 It wasn't quite that moment that killed the show for me but that entire season with Capaldi was like that non stop. It was so high off it's own gas. There's a reason me and other people weren't willing to give Whitaker a chance and the bad writing is my reason way before I ever heard her name. The show was just dead. Imagine the doctor being a racist.
