Your presentation is right on, but you should have warned that the Phonak wax trap is made in two sizes. Trying to replace a trap with the older size trap doesn’t work. I could not find any mention of that in my Phonak guides. To make matters worse the stick traps come in very similar cases with no clear sign whether it’s a one or a two. For little expense Phonak should show on the wax trap replacement case with a large number in color and tell its users that their hearing aids will only work with hearing aids identified on the outside of a case of wax guard marked with a 1 or 2 (A or B).

So true. That shield gizmo would not work for me worth a flip. My audiologists got me the stick mechanism and it was so easy to use. Also I wipe my HA molds off from side to side every night when I take them off, not downward toward the mold opening, to minimize wax building up on the mold. Anyway, thanks Dr Cliff for these informational videos for us HA wearers.

Great explanation and step-by-step illustration of how to keep the wax traps clean, Cliff. 😁👍

Thank you for sharing this information. As i have previously mentioned, i am not the most coordinated person. I have Phonak Audeo Paradise and Lumity devices. (2 pairs). I do not produce copious amounts of earwax as seen on KZfaq. I do feel I produce more extra dry earwax now than before I started using hearing aids. It’s good to know that Phonak has a new receiver and new wax traps for those receivers.. i am not sure why i have so many issues replacing wax traps correctly in the current receivers. I manage to put them in crooked or somehow dislodging the wax trap and having it land on the floor. Luckily, i have not managed to lose a wax trap or any other foreign body inside my ear canal. Good to know Phonak has been paying attention to consumer input as i know i am not the only person to struggle with wax traps.

I hadn't even realized that my lynx Quattros had this feature. I actually had to read the manual for the first time... Doh. Anywho, I finally replaced the old ones, and it was like they are brand new now! Also a good time to switch out the domes. Thanks for your truly wonderful posts!

There is a trick to the round disk wax traps that I never heard explained. The tip of the receiver is tilted a bit; it is not straight compared to the body. The trick is to make sure the tip enters the disk straight, and to do this you must hold the receiver at a slight angle. Look closely at the receiver and you will see the angled tip. This works every time.

Thanks for this great video with very practical advice for us all! Glad they replaced the wheel with those sticks. The wheel was very clever, but between cleanings I have to admit I'd sometimes forget the steps in the rotation routine! Something seemingly so simple would become puzzling. LOL! The sticks are more intuitive.

It also seems like it was a silly move move to switch to the CeruShield disc pack for dome-based receivers while still relying on CeruStop sticks for custom receivers. From a manufacturing and supply chain perspective that's two products to maintain instead of one. Glad to know the CeruStop sticks will continue to be around for a long time.

It seems this episode is a 100% Phonak commercial, and should be clearly labled as such. The was trap you promote, appears to be virtually identical to the ones on my Philips aids.

Well, it is indicated 2x verbally in the video & 1x via text by KZfaq as a designated Sponsored video, so I'm not sure what to tell you. Hopefully the information was useful to you since pretty much every hearing aid uses a wax trap.

Been using the stick wax traps for years with a few reSound hearing aids. I currently wear reSound One.

Great news….i have phonak hearing aids. They are great but changing the wax filters is a nightmare, so much so that I had given up on Phonak. This new wax filter changing system could be the reason I’ll stay with phonak….we’ll see.

I had my first hearing aids over 10 years ago and they had this wax trap on a stick so that is nothing new.

It would help if you mentioned that all wax traps are not the same size even on the same set of phonak. I have to use one size for my right ear and then a much larger size for my left ear. It isn't easy to find the proper size for the left side because for for some reason, it has a bigger hole than the right one. This has been a big problem for me and I can't get Phonakto blink over it. They ignore me. Disappointing for a supposed leader in the industry. There is also no information from Phonak explaining the different sizes. By the way I am a big fan for your channel.

I have a problem changing the wax traps for my ITE hearing aids. My coordination is off enough that it makes it difficult to insert the new wax traps in place. It usually ends up with the trap going in on an angle which basically ruins the fresh trap. Fortunately, the hearing center I go to allows me to go in and have them replace the traps and clean the hearing aids with an ultrasonic device free of charge. Still, there's the inconvenience of traveling to the hearing center, but it's worth it to me. I wonder if some genius will eventually develop hearing aids that automatically repel the wax from the traps, or maybe no need for traps at all?

Any suggestion time frame on changes these? Once a month, three months, or when you just can't hear anymore?

I been putting honey 🍯 bee 🐝 out of work since I made money on my ear wax jelly and ear wax candle 🕯️ every spring time and honey bee have been threatening me to get sting on my back deck and they are protesting violently me with tiny little signs saying bzz get off our flowers 🌺🌹 and we need to make honey 🍯 we need money for bee farmers growing fertilizer Flowers and apple crops etc fruits trees and vegetables crops etc ! I felt guilty so i close down my business and letting honey bees do their job working with bee keepers .

Wow, you are such a drama king! Just change the Wax Trap once a week or more if you produce lots of cerumen, and you will be fine! I guess the chicken little approach is good for click counts and advertiser response.
