DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LYMPHOMA AND LEUKEMIA: Lymphomas are solid, cohesive tumors of immune system. They classically originate from lymphoid tissue. But rarely, in case like HIV-AIDS, they may arise from CNS. Leukemias are malignancy of hematopoetic precursor cell that very often spill into circulation. Some of the lymphoma can become leukemia. The lymphocytes from lymphomas may lose their cohesive property because of mutations in the course of repeated proliferation. And so they spill onto blood and have leukemic phase. Sometimes, leukemic cells may enter lymphoid tissue and acquire cohesive property in course of mutations during proliferation and enter a lymphoid phase. Leukemia may be myeloid or lymphoid. While lymphoma is always made of lymphocytes. Karyotyping of the cells of leukemia and lymphoma is important because it decides the treatment since treatment is karyotype specific. Also its origin, phenotype and stereotype are important. Decides prognosis and treatment. WHO classification of Lymphoid tumors: a. Non Hodgkin’s Tumour b. Hodgkin’s Tumour c. Lymphocytic leukemias d. Plasma cell dysplasia

I have already subscribed the lectures of Professor Dr. Najeeb. But I come in KZfaq sometimes to tell the other people who are suffering enormously to crack the medical subjects as I did before I found Prof. Najeeb.
