1953 Cadillac Coupe DeVille Pulled from the Barn

Sitting for 20 years, this barn find 1953 Cadillac Coupe DeVille is going back on the road. 1953 was a great year for Cadillac, it was the first year for 12 volt electrical systems and the first year for the single piece rear window. The Eldorado was introduced this year and has become a rare collector’s item. ‘53 also was the year air conditioning became an expensive option that customers could opt to purchase. This car does have a/c along with power steering, power brakes, power seat, power windows and a Hydramatic automatic transmission. This Caddy has been wearing a set of 1953 Buick Riviera wire wheels for a very long time but by the end of the video you will notice it now has the correct Cadillac true wire wheels along with new whitewall tires. After checking the fluids and cleaning out the gas tank, this Coupe DeVille is running well and driving around once again!

Gorgeous 53. My friend has a 52 Coupe in a similar color scheme, his is Olympic Blue with a darker colored top. It has been in his familys possession since 1955. His grandfather did the restoration on the car back 2003 to original specs, and it was given to my friend. He takes it to local shows and car meets and drives it occasionally.

It's BEAUTY - and if door panels are in same condition as seats......its almost time capsule. Does it have original paint or is it repainted? My 1953 Cadillac is in good solid condition, but driver seat - leather - is rotted. Back seat is original It has 81000 orgininal miles - but its not nice like your "baby blue" Thanks for this video.

Yes, the door panels match in condition to the seats. They are really nice. The car had one repaint in the original colors maybe 30 years ago.

No, sorry. A friend of mine purchased it. He’s finishing up the window hydraulics and the brakes to have it on the road this summer.

The riviera would've been a better purchase.. mire desirable and command more on resale market

It’s personal preference plus the Cadillac is in better condition. Both are very cool but are totally different styles. There’s a good number of Rivieras that can be found at car shows but a 53 Coupe DeVille is very seldom seen. Thanks for watching
