Corpus Christi
The Corpus Christi Festival (Latin Sollemnitas Sanctissimi Corporis et Sanguinis Christi, Festival of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ) is a festival in the church year of the Catholic Church, with which the lasting presence of Jesus Christ is celebrated in the sacrament of the Eucharist.
The term Corpus Christi is derived from Middle High German "vrône lîcham" for "the man's body", from vrôn "as far as the Lord is concerned" and lîcham "the body".
In the liturgy, the festival is called Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, regionally it is also called the Prager Day or Blood Day. The Latin name of the high festival, Corpus Christi, has entered into English and other languages.
