Well done.. I always use that method with electrical issues but never thought about using that method with "No Can-bus".

looks like the way i fixed my 2000 s10 4x4 after it sat in a field 5 years. my new (to me) 2002 dakota is a nice truck, id only do this as a temp fix.

Hey y'all, I know a lot of folks have asked about the wire harness I used and apologies to everyone I have not responded to, if y'all see this it's an after market wire harness for light pods, you can pick them up at your local Walmart or any store that sells aftermarket lights and harnesses, this was a temporary fix it was connected to my battery and then in turn it ran power to my fuse box via the spade connectors the two negatives which could have also been attached to a good frame or body area that has good contact and then the two positive wires to provide power to the pcm and the fuel pump, there was an inline fuse and relay provided with the wire harness, all set up and ready to go a basic plug and play system, this is only a temporary fix it does work but your best bet is take it to your local mechanic and or track down the issue and resolve it in my case it was the fuse panel inside the truck had a bad connection, thanks all I hope this helps

If you have the 3.9 v6 in 2002 Dakota and this fix still doesn't work. Swap the positive leads and it should start. I had that problem and switching the position of the 2 positive leads fixed it. And make sure they are plugged in tightly. Great tip brother! You saved me several hours of thinking and cursing.

Can you explain that I’m detail? I have a 2001 v6 and about to try this. Also any clue how to wire the switch in this video? Not mechanical minded here

@@mikedwalk2getfit913 get this harness.......... Blazer international. Product number. CWL615. just cut the plugs for the lights and attach your spades. The switch is already wired. So when he said it doesn't matter which spade plugs where, I tried it and it didn't work I swapped the 2 positive spade positions and it worked.

Hey bro, quick question. Why is my 99 Dodge Dakota fuel gauge shows full when it's empty and empty when it's full? I just replaced my computer (pcm) with a used one I bought from eBay? Please help!!!

Pretty good trick. I would plug it into a Key ON circuit so you don't need the extra switch. I could be having this problem or something like it. I have a no bus and I don't have the gauges either. It's a crank but no start as well. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

@@romanihzer4667 Yes we did, after bypassing the ECM and driving the Coil directly, verifying the 5vdc was present, then changing the CPS and a few other sensors I determined it was the ECM. We put a new one in and the truck has been running fine since then. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

@@romanihzer4667 I texted him today and he said he bought it off eBay. When you order it, or any ECM, make sure you use the number on the ECM to order it. The reason is some of the vehicles came with different size or optioned engines and you need the ECM that corresponds to your engine tuning and set up. I'm Amazed this works! What about all the other functions of the ECM... Can the truck drive as normal!? ECM also controls shift servos etc so are you able to drive on the highway with this setup? I got to know because it would be amazing if I can drive with this setup

I'm sure you found your answer months ago and I apologize for not responding sooner but yes the truck runs as it should I'm just bypassing power to a different relay and sending it straight to the ecu

Do you know if this works with the rams as well I did a engine swap from a durango to my ram the durango had a no bus code but I thought my issue would be solved running it in my ram as it’s a different wire harness but I still have a crank no start issue

Yes as long as it runs the 5.9 engine within these certain year models which I believe is like 2000-2002 it may be 99 as well I'm not a professional by any means haha but yes 318s are very similar engine as well so if I'm not mistaken this will work as well however feel free to criticize me if I'm wrong

@@ryansautomotivequickfixes6601 with risk of sounding like a complete idiot. I have never wired anything before but am having this issue. My friend helped me set it up from the relay.. he wouldn't watch your video and I'm plexxing because how he did it wad from 87 wired to fuel pump 86 to my switch 85 ground to the body And 30 to the battery Switch wire to cab. Tht wire to the accesory pin. spliced to cig lighter wire(the one that only functions in the key switched on position) going to supply pin and ground to body I am scared to try it, but I didn't really u derstand where the extra wires in the video came from. You Said to take negatives and wire them together, and attach a spade to both positives. But as I did not have a regular wiring harness I guess I'm a little confused .

I've got a 99 Durango 5.9l that stalled going up a mountain, couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and had a friend come help me out..what we ended up doing was connecting a test light to the positive terminal and touched the wire closest to the firewall on the tps and all my guages came back and the no bus went away and it fired right back up...problem is it continues to have the same issue every few miles. The next time it did it to me all I did was tap all the relays heard a click and all my guages came back again and it fired back up. I'm just confused if a relay could be the issue or if my problem is elsewhere..

I personally went through and figured out my issue was in my fuse box in the truck I had bad connections on the fuse panel I never did get around to pulling the box to fix it but I'd play around with your inner fuse panel with the key on and just wiggle your fuses around a little bit

My 1999 dodge Dakota will start and run but will die and it showed no bus u wait and it will start again but will shut down again showing no bus what can I do to fix this problem

That may depend and I can't provide a definite answer could be as simple as bad connection in your fuse box within the cab and or under the hood sometimes an ecu in itself can go bad and provide these issues itself, I personally would start with the simplest thing start the truck and okay around in the fuse panel check for loose connections to you fuse box by wiggling and pushing on fuses

Get yourself an aftermarket light bar harness or similar harness and just wire it in as shown in the video it'll provide power ground and constant

@@mikedwalk2getfit913 you may have a secondary issue causing this as for that iv only got a few ideas I'd get your pcm checked out they don't normally go bad but it does happen

You sure can you will just have to splice in more wire a good way to do that is use those plastic crimp wire connectors with the metal in it, I am by no means a professional mechanic and this was a temporary fix whilst I located/diagnosed the true problem

@@tomcunningham5442 Symptom: Engine will not start. Gauges are inoperative. NO BUS message displayed on odometer. Problem 1 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor. Problem 2 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Problem 3 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Problem 4 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Problem 5 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted wire.. Problem 6 of 6: The 5v power supply from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is shorted due to a shorted Governor Pressure Sensor. Also check your grounds on the heads/firewall and fenders. The PCM may have broken solder joints due to heating and cooling of the main PCB. Not to blame Dodge/Chrysler, this is a pretty common problem with many electronic devices. Any electronics that gets hot then cools is going to flex the main PCB and break the non lead solder that is used in electronics.
