Thanks for sharing. A lot of the information helped me in my starter change out. However, I was not so willing to do the extra work of removing the cooling fans, so here is what I did, and I hope it helps someone. I found that my standard length 15mm combination wrench would just barely clear the fan motor allowing for just enough swing to grab the next nut flat on the upper bolt. However, there was not enough room to use a second box end wrench for a cheater since the bolt was very tight. So I placed the box end on the nut at the highest position, then took a 5' water key and placed the saddle over the open end of the combo wrench. Pushing straight down on the key gave me enough force to move the bolt. If you don't have a water key, try any long rod or similar device that can be positioned over the wrench without sliding off. Once that hurdle was cleared, the rest of the job went pretty well.

The top bolt is a deep socket 13 mm and I needed to use an extension .it was tuff to get it out.the bottom bolt or bolts are 15 mm regular socket.My starter on my 2005 doge caravan sxt was only held by two bolts. Thanks for this helpful video.My van would start then it wouldn't start and finally I would try it again then all I heard was a click when I turned on the ignition. I took the battery to be tested and it was at 85%.So then I knew it was time to replace the original starter.

You dont need to remove the fans, just use a socket and a 5" extension for the top bolt. See other videos here. Also when it clicks all it needs is a set of solenoid terminals for $9 on Ebay. Put the old one back in.

I have a 1998 dodge caravan and I found it a lot easier to just remove the frpont engine mount. After you jack engine up enough to take the weight off the front mount you can easily take off mount giving you access to everything youy need to get to. removing the fans you run the risk of medding up the wiring or hitting the radiator causing a leak.JUST REMOVE THE FRONT MOUNT AND MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER.STARTER COMES OUT THE BOTTOM AND FALLS IN YOUR HANDS.

Your video was okay until you said to remove parts. I didn't have a 3/8 swivel so I went and bought one to take the top bolt out. No parts came off the van except for the starter. Your best to was the 13mm holding the ground wrote in place! Got'er done in record time. Thanks for the tip!

Can you give me some info from your experience?? i went under my 2006 and i can't tell how many bolts used to install starter i saw one bolt on the drivers side towards the top that holds ground wire in place and secures starter. I saw a second bolt drivers side bit lower that holds the starter in place I saw what i believe is a third bolt that appears on the drivers side oil filter side. I can't tell for sure. Is that a bolt, therefore making 3 bolts?? If that is the case with the 3rd bolt doesn't look like enough room in there. I only saw you remove 2 bolts.
