When it arrived here the Intake was already off it, when I looked inside and saw the amount of sludge, I knew that it's first step would be an acid bath anyway. Paying the machine shop to do it versus the mess and loss of time in this case is well worth it to me.

Good news, both the rear most and forwatdmost exhaust manifold studs are actually wet studs, both are drilled Into the coolant passages from the factory. So retapping it and replacing the studs with thread sealer is exactly what you can do. Hope that helps.
