Quick side notes it was pointed out to me by "Dad" otherwise known as Randy over at Dads Engine Parts LLC that when you get the block resurfaced it should be done with the front cover installed so the two surfaces are the same height after being machined. Also, The head gasket from Ajusa is not the performance one as the performance one is actually silver in color and would be part number X-10079200. Proud of you….I had a new Dodge Raider in 1987 and rolled it off a cliff on my third month. Now I have and FJ Cruiser and it’s reliving my time as a 19yr old with a new Raider.

Very nicely done. It should be noted the engine has a balance shaft elimination kit installed.

engine sounds great! - I recently bought my 87 Montero back from a friend I had sold it to over 10 years ago.. currently putting a new alternator in it and have a list of things to do for it. funny thing is that mine has the same crack in the windshield yours did, keep at it !you are inspiring!

on the 2.6L G54B, does the mikuni carb need to come out before the fuel pump can come out ? ....i have 1" clearance between the two, wiggle, wiggle, fuel pump bumps against the carb, does not clear the engine block bolts...what am i missing ?

I have a question i have a 1987 dodge caravan with the same engine is thier anything i can do to bullet proof this engine to make it last a long time it only has 98000 miles on it and it has healthy oil pressure

I would just say do regular maintenance on the engine, It will last you

nice i have a ram 50 from 87 with a g54b any recommendations for things to do to get more rpms im hoping to do ITB's and i want it to rev high

some people say to keep the balance shafts, but I deleted them, that frees up rotating mass and lets your engine rev quicker and higher.
