Just bought a '94. $400. Best thing I've ever done besides pulling out.

I love my 01 Ram. I wont get rid of it. Im going to drive it till the wheels fall off, then change the wheels, and keep driving it. No way im getting a new one!

Say what you will about the old D-Series, they were no nonsense bruit work trucks.The old LA engines were hard to kill, my grandpa’s 86 D-150 went 400,000 miles with the 318 and was still running when sold.

I have just over 200k miles on my 2001 2nd gen 1500. I love the heck out of that thing. It has never left me stranded and has been put through hell over it's lifetime. The only major complaint I have is that the plastic around the dash is complete garbage. You will 100% have to replace it with aftermarket pieces if you want it to last. That said, I have literally zero other complaints. I'd buy it again if they sold it new.

One of the best, most durable half ton 4x4's ever produced. Strait front sxle, factory lift, manual floor shift 4x4, and that solid 360 V8 gasser that will run forever!!

I like the 2gen trucks, when they came out in 94 I was hooked on dodge, especially the v-10

I bought my 1999 1500 4X4 8 years ago and what an old beast that won't die . 277.000 miles and purrs like a kitten. Biggest issues were the fuel pump and heater core . I would buy another one in a heart beat.

I bought brand new in 1999, my dad had it 2002-till a few days ago. I’m getting all stock OEM parts to bring it back to looking like new. Best investment I have done in a vehicle to tell you the truth. I’m very pleased with this model.

iv had over 10 of these trucks and aside from keeping up the service on the trans they were tough and very dependable. ran good. decent gas milage for what it is. towed and packed a load good. very strong engines that can stand alot of abuse and neglect. the dashes are weak. good strong truck and looks badass!!!

Just got a clean 2500 Laramie V10 with thousands of dollars worth of lift and off road upgrades, 80k miles. Looks brand new... Pretty happy with it

Awesome truck!

As a guy who still drives his 98 Dodge Ram 1500 at least 3 times a week, if you push that little button on the end of the shifter handle, you'll turn overdrive off which really helps when accelerating onto the highway. Just make sure you turn the overdrive back on if you want to get above 60mph or so.

Just traded in my elantra for a 1996 Ram 1500 laramie 2 door RWD. Definitely shows it's age but for $6300 and a healthy 190k miles, she's running incredibly. Love hearing the 5.9L purr. And lower payments and insurance more than make up for the less than stellar gas mileage.

My mom bought a retired construction guys ‘95 1500 2dr club cab and it’s a tank. Even with minimal maintenance done to it as my mom didn’t wrench on it until I could recently being old enough to work for parts etc. however this thing is a tank clocking in at 410k miles. Love these trucks and would own one over anything new from nostalgia.

I love 2nd gen Rams, I just wish they were more reliable and had better quality parts.

I've had my '95 Laramie SLT for 25 years and it's still in great shape. Most have rusted out by now, especially in northern states. For the sake of accuracy, the truck in Twister was a Ram 2500, not a 1500. :)

I was the exact same, was a huge fan of this truck just because of that movie Twister, it’s one of my all time favourite movies.

Dang. When they still knew how to build trucks! A basic instrument panel? Yes, because that is all you need to know. Dont have patience for all that other bullshit you find in modern vehicles. And trucks from this era have soft, comfortable seats! Whatever happened to those?

In January, I got my dark green 01 1500 4x4 Laramie SLT Quad Cab with Leather. It came with the original 5.9 L V8 and it has a 3 inch leveling kit and 33s. I couldn't ask for a better truck, and I was originally going to get an old f150 but I'm glad I didn't. Not really much of Dodge guy but that's changed ever since I've got my Ram. History of it, it came from Florida and a woman had owned it. Its got 126k miles on the body and 20k on the rebuilt 5.9 L V8 motor I put in. So I named it "Gator." As far as everything goes with controls and whatnot it really was ahead of its time and overall is a damn good truck. Most of my friends named it the "Highway Rig" mainly because of how good it cruises. But its badass and has a lot of power. I love starting it every morning to hear that growl. From a 17 year old, I prefer this to be a good first car. I highly recommend it💯

I'm only watch this as I recently saw a red (with lots of chrome) 1996 RAM, and written on it's side it said "OFFICIAL TRUCK 80th Indianapolis 500 May 26,1996". Which I thought was pretty cool considering I saw it in Timaru, New Zealand, so I took a photo of it.

A four door one with all red exterior and new headlights is prefect.

I always like seeing different versions of my truck! I've got a sport/off road package, no rear seats, manual, and my cup holders are on the floor connected to the base of the stick which is nicer in my opinion but apart of me does wish for the backseat

I’m working on restoring my 01 now. Fenders, wheel arches, front and rear bumper and some paint. No big problems besides tranny and water pump. 167k, still screaming down the highway.

Not that it matters, but the Dodge Ram in Twister was actually a 1995 Ram 1500, but they also used 2500, with the V10 - Laramie SLT for stunts.

My 1999 Club Cab 1500 has rear doors. It was introduced in 1999, the 1998 models didn't have them.

I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 gen 2 i put a 6.0L v8 and flow master and lowered it is powerful i barley touched the gas tires spin and i hope i can put a super charger in it idk

They based the front end off of kw that is why they had such a cool front ....

I got a 5.2 5 speed 4x4 and you can hit some speed in it or you can lay back low in the rpm.s and save on gas and the 5 speed is a lot more reliable in this truck

*Hey!* I had a Gen.1 1983 RAM & it was a good vehicle! That 2wd truck had a SLANT6+4-speed standard tranny w/ limited-slip differential in the 8-1/4 rear axle. Boxy with low quality?~it worked! It went everywhere it could get traction in 2wd here in Alaska. Granted, it wasn't a 2nd Gen. RAM, but a good start.

This generation for me the ram 1500 looks nice in single cabs while the 2500 being only quad cabs.

I would buy this version ram. Great looks and still a truck, and not an obscene amount of electronics BS that got added later. Dodge has a reputation for electrical gremlins so less is more I say!

I thought the truck in the movie twister was about as cool as cool gets…! Especially with the Studebaker front end…! Bought new and still driving my 1994 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie SLT \5.9l Magnum, a little body work, lift kit and big wheels, repaint, and a few trinkets from LMC Truck, looks good as new. As far as Dodge being Strong today? Um, they sold out to FIAT around 2007, so now it's just called a Ram Truck..build quality suffered and luxury items turned to plastic or reduced, except for that honking large touch screen on the new Rams...useless. What makes the new "Rebel" a Rebel is a lot of plastic add-ons. If buying new I would just get the standard model and save tens of thousands by buying the add-ons aftermarket. Fixing up an old Dodge Ram is well worth the money over buying new. There is a lot of aftermarket support for these trucks. btw, buy 96 and up...ODB1 in 1994 is not supported in most shops these days, so you may need to buy an old Snap-on MT2500 scanner while there are still any left on ebay (~$200)
