Part 2 of the Dodge Ram misfire issue. As we begin to get close to a solutions, we are only left with more questions. Might have my work cut out for me. May be time to consider letting it go.

Having the exact same issue with my truck. Changed the plugs, coil, injector, but the light keeps coming back on. Gonna mess around with it some more so I’ll keep you updated if I find a fix for mine

Still no fix but found a possible cause. Checked the plugs for spark, and it seems to be very inconsistent. It pretty much “skipping”. Read a few forums and threads, could be bad PCM

Hello did you find the solution?
@Ghosted7028 ай бұрын
@@elcompa3440I did. The lifter ended up being broken. Causing the valve to not open/close properly. It was also causing a lifter tick. Ended up having to take it to dodge service and they basically rebuilt the head end. Cost an arm and a leg…

Did the same thing and checked compression test all good and replaced throttle body. I still have the light maybe a sensor?

How is it driving? I have a truck like that and it’s like sputtering or misfiring when driving but my check engine light came on and have not came back on. So how was your truck driving? What part of Texas you from I’m from the Dfw area

The ECU may have gone bad. Check it at the local dealership. Good Luck!

This sounds crazy, but check the ohms on your spark plugs I have seen a few videos with mechanics having weird misfire where the ohms from the affected cylinder was way off

Ah, interesting. I'll keep that in mind. I plan to tinker with it for a bit. I have a feeling it might be something simple. Thanks for the tip!

Clean injectors. Injectors rarely if ever go bad. The injector in question looked like it had a bad seal. Replace the seals and clean the injector.

dude i have the same problem how did you solve it?
@HomeGrownPyro1 Жыл бұрын
Me too. From what I’m reading it’s either going to be bad lifter/cam or a bad pcm
@1234crevis8 ай бұрын
Bet its a lifter issue cuz that's a main prob with the 5.7

That tick is your bad lifter.

@JoelsDriveway Жыл бұрын
Yea. I'm thinkin this might be the issue.

Jose did you determine this after the spoke test , to check the lifters individually
@HomeGrownPyro1 Жыл бұрын
@@007eruiz that’s what I’m wondering because mine is doing the same thing but cylinder 7 and from everything I’ve been searching. Sounds like it’s either going to be a bad lifter/cam or a bad PCM. Just not sure how exactly to diagnose it to be sure

@@HomeGrownPyro1 just got mine fixed today after months of guessing and swapping common parts. Ended up taking it to Dodge and had them do a proper diagnostic. Camshaft lobe wore down… with labor and parts ended up costing an arm and a leg. $5700 out the door. All valves, lifters, gaskets, camshaft, etc etc got swapped. (Basically a whole head rebuild). Bit the bullet and told them to fix it anyways. Still cheaper then a new truck right now with all these prices

99% of the time will have damaged cam
@JoelsDriveway Жыл бұрын
Did you upgrade or did you replace with OEM cam and lifters?
