The Viper is just waiting to come back. Dodge is going to wait long enough for people to stop caring about the old V10 then realize they have a bunch of Hellcat engines laying around... So they might as well put it in something that doesnt weigh the same as a minivan.

The Hellcat engine will never be as bullet proof as the V10, just saying from a builder's perspective. Personally if you want something down right insane but not for the faint of heart or Mopar fanboy... LS3 BiTurbo Monster with GTO manual box in a mid 90's Viper. I have a customer considering having me do the swap because I am quite good with custom wiring and Frankenstein monsters in general. Its not unheard of for guys that want to race expensive cars but keep their value up. I have assisted in LS swaps into Ferrari cars before, so they could be tracked while their factory power plants got to sit safely in some rich guy's pool house.

To make it look EVIL i would put darker Headlights and Tailights, it will have the ACR aerodynamics but the features of the Normal Viper with the ACR rollbar. It will have color variations like: Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Orange etc etc.

Do you know that the "VIPER” kept the record of Nurburgring for more than three years without interruptions? Nurburgring is the home of car brands like Volkswagen, Opel, Audi, BMW, RUF, Mercedes( the winner of the last 7 seasons of formula 1), Porsche ( that alredy has the record with the 919 hybrid evo) you know, Porsche and Mercedes test everyday new prototipes on the track, the last "VIPER" went to Germany without the suppport of the factory, only a few group of fans collected the enough money to buy two Vipers ACR, without proper tires, without a proper pilot, and without enough time, the Viper got a time of 7:01 surpassing the time of cars like the Mercedes AMG GTR PRO. My dad was the maintenance manager at Connor Assembly Plant up until about a year and a half ago and I always went into work with him and the amount of pride that the builders of the Viper had was insane. True story; one of the Viper’s road testers complained to FCA that his back hurt from driving Vipers all day (how ridiculous is that?) but rather than tell him to take a hike FCA built him a custom seat set up to prevent the pain. Also I was able to meet Ralph Giles four times, he has a white Viper with the license plate Voodoo and everyone who worked at the factory (including me because I happened to be there that day) signed the inside of the Decklid.

It was so cool, the last viper ever Produced was sold to a woman named D’ann Rauh, she owns over 80 vipers and lives in Texas. The coolest part about going to work with my dad (he now works at Warren Truck) was seeing how precise the production was. They only made 3 a day because over 90% of production was by hand. To call it a factory doesn’t tell the whole story, the floors were perfectly polished everyday and there were showcars all over the place. More of a museum really, such a cool place.

So, a close frined of mine who also just happened to be my boss at the time owned two different generations of the Viper. I could say, that, it certainly had plenty of trunk space, even though it burned gas, had a very big gas tank, and I thought the stereo in both Vipers were freakin ROCKIN. In other words, if I had the opportunity to daily drive a Viper, I WOULD IN LESS THAN A HEARTBEAT!!! Thank you for your incredibly awesome show.

The Viper has been my favourite car since it's debut! Back when they were filming season 2 of Viper in Calgary, they shot part of an episode in my home town, Airdrie (just north of Calgary). Our local Ford dealer had just moved to a huge new location, and they blew up the service centre for the episode. I got to be there for the explosion, and they also ended up doing a night shoot that my buddy and I stumbled across by the local Dodge dealer. My friend and I got to sit in the Viper Defender (the silver version) and meet Jeff Kaake, who drove the car in the show. I used to have a signed headshot with Viper branding on it, but I lost it ages ago.

@joecugo I don't know. Maybe it was bad marketing, maybe it was bad timing, maybe there were other cars in that period that offered more for less, maybe it was everything above combined. All i'm saying is that poor sales doesn't mean it's ugly. There are many examples of beautiful exotic cars that didn't sell at all. It happens. While the new viper is not as distinctive as the old one, the base shape is there and it's just more angry because people like angry cars nowadays. It's not that it's uglier than the previous models, just different. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway.

My father had the 250hp one and i remember it to have reached 450'000-470'000 km without serious mechanical issues (except gear's friction change that was tricky), before he sold it. It had a lot of torque, it was ugly, it was sturdy as hell and was really fast on mountain roads, to be a so common car it was interesting.

3:07 it's a myth. Viper's V10 is based on a 360 LA Magnum V8, and have nothing in common with their iron-block V10 besides their similar displacement. At one point Chrysler considered adapting V10 engine for the Viper, but scrapped that idea due to the required amount of work and questionable outcome. 360 Magnum is the powerplant that can be found in Lil' Red Express truck and goes back as far as 1971 and, while heavily modifed and revised, remained in production line as 5.9 magnum until 2003.

"The Viper V10 is based on the Chrysler LA engine family, and appeared with the Dodge Viper in 1992. It was conceived and prototyped as a Magnum 5.9 with two extra cylinders and a longer stroke of 3.88 in (99 mm). Lamborghini engineers revamped Dodge's cast-iron block V10 for the Viper[citation needed] by recasting the block and heads in aluminum alloy. Prototype blocks were cast by Lamborghini, at the time a Chrysler division. The first-generation Viper V10 engine had a displacement of 8.0 L (488 cu in) and produced 400 hp (300 kW) and 465 lb·ft (630 N·m)."

Actually the V10 in the RAM is a LA/MAGNUM with 2 extra cylinders, the Viper V10 is not related to either engine

Tomasz Kusmierz Not exactly, the Dailmer Chrysler merger happened late in the 90s. The viper came out before the merger.

95 Dodge Viper RT/10 was the best car I've ever owned! As someone who has driven over a thousand performance cars my favorite by far is the Viper! It's just unadulterated and raw!

Missed the 1:33 editions and their significance, and the fact that the last generation of vipers had the largest production engine ever built, also boasting the most torque of any naturally aspirated production engine in the world. Other than that, I️ think you covered everything. Great videos.

Haha the scene in the intro of the red one going off the cliff is off an old car vid from New Zealand called high octane. Very early 2000s. I was 15 when I seen that scene for the first time.
