New Zealand, New Zealand how beautiful you are! With the end of summer approaching and boat work dragging on it was time to get out of the bilges and go sail. Go sail the great Hauraki Gulf. We needed to get back to our usual shenanigans of hiking, fishing, diving, and getting a little crazy…
We pointed our bow to some of the famous islands such as Great Barrier, Mercury islands, Coromandel peninsula, Rangitoto and Waiheke. Not to mention the big city of Auckland was luring us south. With parks galore and beautiful bays, the cruising in this area cant be beat. Oh and did I mention underwater? The sea is alive! We have never seen so many fish. It was intimidating to be in the thick of things down there.
We walked in the lush forests of Great Barrier. Visited wineries on Waiheke. Got a taste of big city life in Auckland before getting away from all in the outer Mercury Islands.
But alas, just as we'd settled into the cruising life, we were rudely interrupted when a massive storm rolled through reminding us that winter was on its way and really, it was time for us to go. Time to head north where the palm trees sway. So with the last few errands done we were anxiously waiting for the weather to make a beeline for Fiji.

I've only just discovered your videos in the last couple of months, so a little late commenting. Glad you appreciated our beautiful country down under. Our country is very diverse in it's scenery looked like you got to see some of what we have to offer. Was funny seeing Ben drive through the roundabout on the other video, I assumed every country had roundabouts!

Varnishing is a pain in the ass, a good tech to get rid of burbles, filter varnish first and use a technique called tipping, if you know all this don’t mind my comment just trying to be helpful

the table top was the easyest varnish to do , no need for a bruch, just poor directlly & evenly the varnish and gently warm up with a heat gun ... it dry flat and perfect , no traces , so you winn, just snad it all again and start fresh, flat level and smile

Love your energy guys... just a couple of pro-tips: as a marine biologist I want to warn you about the way you were filming these rays... rays are pretty cowardly/shy creatures... but they will attack you if they feel cornered, essentially how Steve Irwin died. so ALWAYS give them pretty open space to run away, and dont be in their escape path. tip number 2 comes from being an Arab: Kingfish is amazing when fried... just make steaks out of it about 2 inches thick and fry em, they're good grilled too... but here in Dubai Arabs make a casserole out of them... put some dried lime, onions, tomato sauce, turmeric, a bit of cumin, a bit of garlic and enough water to make runny like a latte (viscosity/consistency)... once cooked, add some lemon and plain white rice and bon appetite

Love your video exploits guys. Not bad for a couple of Canuck's. A few fishing pointers. Definitely an great amberjack. Not very good eating and can sometimes have parasites in the meat so look at them before eating. Also, as others have said, the real should be above the rod and usually is reeled from the right side. If you use your left arm more straight and hold the rod further up the rod near where the handle joins the rod, you will be able to use your back to pump the larger fishes in without as much fatigue/pain. Keep it up and enjoy. Hope to see you out there some day. Fair winds, following seas.....

You are holding the fishing pole upside down. Conventional fishing reels should be oriented on top of the pole. It is much easier to reel in and access the drag and clicker and speed controls (if you have a multi-speed reel). Plus , most people are right handed and the reel handle is located on the right side of the reel when held in the proper orientation .
