This is the only TV interview that Dodi Fayed gave (as far as I know:)). I took it from the recent documentary "Diana & Dodi: The Princess and the Playboy". I don't know many details about this interview, but it was given around the time Dodi acted as executive producer of the film Chariots of Fire (he was 26 here and it's the same year Diana got married).
I've always had the curiosity of knowing how he sounded like, especially after reading a book on Diana and learning that she LOVED his voice and accent (she told it to a close friend not long before she died). As this is from 16 years before they started a relationship and then died, I guess his voice may have changed a bit over time.

The actor who portrayed him did not do his accent and just did a standard American accent. Confirmed.

To my American ear, the British actor in The Crown played Dodi with an impeccable American accent (in fact I thought the actor must've been American) while the real Dodi spoke with a slight, but distinctively foreign accent.

Remember, the events portrayed in the Crown would've been 16 years after this interview. It's plausible that he lost most traces of his accent after so many years in America and abroad.

I loved the movie Breaking Glass, interesting how he bankrolled it to be made. Some great music is in the movie. Hazel O’Connor singing Will you ❤❤ also the lyrics to 8th Day are very relevant today.

@@Fraan000 yeah unfortunately.. Although I detest his playboy lifestyle .. I still think he shouldn’t have been viciously attacked by the media, they’ve made several racial insults against him and I think that contributed to his lack of popularity. I believe he’s friendly underneath that facade he had put up, also he was bullied as a young man for his height and race.

How is it that he has an East Coast American accent if he went to an international school in Switzerland?

He was only at the Swiss school for one year. Before that, he attended Victoria College in Alexandria, basically Egypt's Eton. At 16, he was at Sandhurst in the UK, and following that had access to homes in London, Scotland, Milan, Dubai, and New York.

Dodi didn’t age well. He wasn’t particularly good looking when he was with Diana. He was very handsome in this clip though.

Well, we have to consider 16 years had passed since when he gave that interview and started a romance with Di, so, everybody ages! 😁 But I do agree with you. He looks lovely in here.
