I think part of it as well is that in the commercial, he sawed it lengthwise, meaning that each part of the boat should theoretically have an equal amount of weight on it.

I've used the flex tape to fix holes/cracks in water plastic water tanks for horses. Held up all winter, but I make sure the outside was clean and dry before applying
