Love the build episodes and tool recommendations. I started shooting a bow in July and thanks to Dan and Josh I saw the importance of being self sufficient and learned to do just about anything I need to to my setup. Thankfully I’ve got a good pro shop close too if I can’t do something. Baker vises are legit and I’m not just saying that as a fellow southern Idaho boy.

I started shooting bow 9/22. I'm technical and a perfectionist and after paying for press time a couple times I started doing my own bow work. I do everything myself so this is nothing abnormal. "If you want something done right, do it yourself" is the motto I live by and its so true and its very rewarding to setup a bow yourself.

Man, I'll be that guy I guess. If people have been watching these videos and STILL contact you and ask, "how do I get started working on my own bows?" Its hopeless.

Fun vid! Yes, I’d check the thumb barrel to make sure it’s not bent from slamming it so hard! 😉

Love the video, but just a little feed back it felt super choppy to the point that it makes you feel like you’re missing something and it’s a little distracting

Hey, I have been watching your videos for a long time now! And I love them! And I know you do Broadhead testing. I was wondering if you heard of the kudu point broadheads what your thoughts were. I would love to see you. Test them for the 2024 season? Thanks!!

I've been waiting for the OMP fletching jig for a year now. I emailed them a while back and they said "by the end of the year". I'm getting tired of waiting on OMP but it looks like a very versatile jig for a good price.

I've had one on order for 6 months as well. I looked at their video again, and they had noted an updated release of early 2024. So I'm not expecting it until mid 2024 *laughing*.

Don’t ever order anything that isn’t in stock is my motto. Can’t stand companies that don’t have their shit together. Poor management is the reason they don’t have stock.

Hey elk shape crew, can you edit the videos more seemlessly? Do one story, then the next, and then finish it up? The editing was choppy.

I have a question for one of you. I am an old man of 62. Lost a lot of strength. Used to hunt and shoot indoor 300’s. My old hunting poundage back 35 years ago or kore was 60. My indoor bow was 42 lbs. I am being told to use 600 spine arrows. I just found my old arrows i shot in the old super slow 35+ year old Pearson. Those arrows were 2512’s. I qualified first in the state the last year I shot indoors. I am being told NO, those are way too stiff. This is a target set up, not shooting broadheads. And only at 20 yards. I was talked into buying a dozen GT Ultrlight Pros in 600 spine. Now that I have found my old arrows, what say you on this. Shooting from a launcher rest and only at 20 yards, I just do t see how anyone can go too stiff for a TARGET set up. I already had dozens of 400 and 500 spine shafts. Those old 2512’s were in the 300 range I am sure. And they shot bullet holes. I have limited fund and don’t..... can’t waste money or time setting up the wrong arrows this winter. I know all the charts will say 600 spine. Again, this is a target bow only. I also had to go to a Woman’s bow to get something I could get to my old indoor weight. It’s an Elite Ember. Setting at 40 for now until I get worked back into 42 where I shot for years. So am I thinking right that for punching paper at one yardage, you cannot go too stiff? Seems my old bow way way over stiff with arrows too, but I was one of the top shooters in the state back then, with those overly stiff arrows. I will not be going to X Cutters. Can’t afford them. But all of my 400 and 500 spine fold Tip hunter pros I have, I hate to waste them to shoot something too light. When stiffer might be better for X rings.

I’d agree. Stiffer arrows will be heavier and not absorb all the energy of the bow like a perfect spiced arrow but it might hit targets just fine. Too weak is a disaster though

Interesting the constant dishing of the West Coast states because they are liberal in politics. Yet much of the technology used in modern archery was developed in West coast cities and several back East as well like Boston, NY, and Washington DC. Also the social media platforms for your content were developed there as well. The mid-country archery retail industry is built on a lot of technology developed somewhere else.

Fun fact my Amazon bike holder is my bow vice and only was 36$ works great screwed right into a work bench. Fast easy affordable DIY. Easy to level your sights on your bow. I do recommend the pricy hamske levels. I don’t trust the Amazon levels.
