Great new channel, loved the tour round the town centre of Kidderminster, with historic pictures of the 'good old times'. 😊

Wonderful trip down memory lane, although very sad to see Kidderminster these days, was amazing place to grow up. The town centre was packed with people, shops and general fun atmosphere. Thanks

I haven't been back to Kidderminster for many years, it's sad they've got rid of some of the older buildings and replaced them with modern monstrosities, I only recognised some of the places , very sad, there's no character left from what I can see from your video, shame on the planners...

Planning for the town comes from above. Town planners have no say on these and if they reject them they are fined which comes out of their bidget

Wyre forest council have history of destroying buildings that were perfectly fine, and replacing them with some new scheme/plan. That will cost tax payers more money, and is a total shitshow! They go against what the people want. We don’t need a town centre park. All it does is create a place for the strong brew crew to hang out. A permanent indoor market would have been a start. We don’t need anymore charity shops. Maybe if the town gets busier, it will encourage other businesses to rent space here. Sorry for the ramble. I have lived here since 1970s. Thank you for doing these videos. Keep up the good work xx

Makes me smile that an Asian company have now won awards for being able to re-design original buildings rather than incurring the cost of knocking them down to re-build. Really!?!?!?!?

People wanted a park at Crown House, in the town centre, and something is still in the pipeline there. So what is the big hostility to a park that connects Worcester St and Bromsgrove St?

Going to build a park? Now where have I heard that before? .. oh yes, when they knocked down crown house. You missed where Havon was before it burnt down ( near the new collage) old concrete slab with weeds with temporary fencing for how many years now? Was a great town and could be again I hope. Great video, if you come again, try the Thai stand in the market:)

Sad to see the decline of the town - it is not alone as many provincial town centres have suffered the same fate

Kidderminster was better 30 years ago than it is now, where has the money gone, maybe that is a question for the local council. It is a ghost town which to be fair to the council is down to Industry dying such as carpets, sea line and the like which in turn has taken shops and pubs. However i would like to see where 20 million pound has been spent.

Kidderminster was once the Wealthiest Town in Worcestershire" with the Massive carpet Industry, Sadly those Industrial days are sadly gone, Think Worcester street needs to be open up to traffic again" A better Bus route for the town centre too, Hope the whole town central gets a makeover and get the traders back in the shops instead of them all leaving to go out of town Retail parks, !! The Horsefair got a tidy up" and how better there it now is, ! Sounds around aye"! remember that shop very well" You would also know then and sure you had paid a visit to my Brothers Record shop Mr Tee Records,! When i last had a visit to Kidderminster i thought how many folks were around the town and chatting like the old days of Woolies" TJ Hughes" Hunters" Wilko" Penny Black" etc, .

Remember him well. Also noticed that Mr Tees is still open and trading. Who is running it now?
@davehodges62583 ай бұрын
@@RovingResearcher The shop used to owned by Mr Francis Terry Thomas"(MR TEE) But he sadly died back in 2016 leaving the business to his Business partner Terry Hodges who is the Owner/MD, The shop is trading very well and there is a surge demand going on today for Vinyl, If you are over that way pop in and have a brows,. 👍

And that's kiddy on a busy day, this town really needs some work, it's depressing living here. I see those old 80s drive around videos and the amount of people walking around is insane. What happened kiddy 🥲

Such a shame, as many years ago it was a lovely bustling little town! Now its a dump plagued with dossers!

Didn't Hugh Dennis turn the Christmas lights on in Kidderminster one year? As a former resident of Kidderminster (Stourbridge road just opposite the Springfield park) i will admit it needed a fair bit of regeneration back then... I thought they were building a hotel where the post office used to be?

Unfortunately for the residents Kidderminster as a shopping town is finished. The town centre moved out and to boot the local councillors have decided that a park should be built in the so called shopping centre.centre.

It's the beginning of an ongoing look at the expansion of the town over the next few years. From now onwards but has to show the past as a springboard to now and into the next few years.
