For me, Walsh's defence lost it for Queensland and is what loses it for Brisbane when his playing as well. He seems to have the mindset of a gambler in attack where he'll risk it all for a pass that doesn't land, when he should probably tuck the ball and just take the tackle for field position. He needs more discipline because he brings the team down with him when he does this sort of rubbish. Every coach needs to stop letting him have free reign and tell him to reach this discipline goal before he can go play risky.🤦🏾‍♂️ Now, the Qld effort areas in defence were some rubbish. Like the players making the tackle that couldn't wrap a ball up blew my mind. Carrigan and Cotter are both tackling high, and the NSW player manages to get an offload. Yeah, it seems like the effort was there for cover defence that's not Walsh, but as soon as their in the tackle, the effort drops off with not wrapping the ball up.

I think Mal is wrong, I think NSW has started the era of next man up, meaning you have to earn your spot in the blues, not this incumbent stuff QLD carries on about. We tried a mix of being loyal to our positions like QLD, while trying to find good combos and it has not worked for us. But now it seems like all NSW players get a ranking and you play if you're next up. Example Nathan Cleary is ranked 1 at half, Moses ranked 2 then Hynes ranked 3 (well maybe 4 now) whoever is available at the highest rank plays. Next man up, it seems that's the way we're moving and QLD can keep their BS style, our new style will dominate.

I think the QLD performance in the second half showed that maybe the dominance of NSW in the FIRST half is something QLD can counter, the sheer dominance that NSW showed in the first half, had it been a genuine reality they would have went on with it - and they didn't.
