Others have already commented on the India bit, so I'll raise something else that came up. Ms. Sidra mentioned rewriting history by calling Alaud-Din-Khalji and Tipu Sultan as "bad people". While saying it was an Indian prerogative, her expression suggested that she thought it was ludicrous to think that way. My question is simple- why does she and anyone else thinking of them as great heroes do so? Is it because they were great warriors and exhibited outstanding personal valour? Or is because they were both Muslims? How is it that you cant find one Hindu King with those characteristics when i can name many? Alaud- Din- Khalji was hardly someone of great moral character having used deceit to kill his uncle and usurp his throne and while he was a complex figure and his Generals reasonably succesful against the Mongols after initial scares, it would be a bit of a stretch to compare him with Tipu Sultan on personal bravery. Add to that him not being Indian, the only reason to think of him as a hero would be because he was Muslim. Why does Ms. Sidra or anyone else expect non-Muslims to agree with that especially when they were at the receiving end of his military exploits with religious aggression added on top of that. Tipu Sultan is more complex and while his personal bravery is unquestioned , he too ran very bigoted campaigns in parts of Karnataka and Kerala states (i stress - parts only). While one can argue that historical figures shouldnt be judged by present day standards of morality and I agree, their nature of religious extremism would lead to different opinions depending on the people being asked. If Pakistanis can't find an Hindu king worthy of praise and side with invaders only because they were muslim, then why the surprise when others see things the opposite.

Maurya 322-185CE Gupta 320-550CE And Mughal 1526-1857 They all worked for a united India and the disorder in India was the result of impulse of centralisation in different periods. Ashoka the great rule the United India and there comes other too who ruled it as a whole. Plus the concept of 'Nation states ' was never there before 17th century, so it was obvious that different regions were used to be controlled by different rulers. But once the concept of nation states get popular in Europe, many different continents adopted it. So it was also possible for the Hindus and Muslims to live together under single center just like America. Even before partition, the word, al Hind was used for all people living in the territory, now called Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. They were collectively called as Hindi. So you can't say there was no India before partition. On the other side. Pakistan is the consequence of 10 years struggle from 1937-1947. And even in these years it was after 1945 that the idea of a separate state was really owned by Muslim League and Quaid e Azam.
