the only time Sikh soldiers went against orders and left their posts was when the indian govt attacked the Golden Temple, and when they deserted their posts they didn't turn on their fellow soldiers at their barracks but instead mobilized to confront the soldiers directly attacking the Temple. anyway these soldiers were also massacred by the indian army as they were marching to protect the Golden Temple.

Jedi Master that's not true, eye witnesses say they murdered women, children, and the elderly in the complex, the official army report says that no civilians were hurt, when survivors of the attack say that the army sat pilgrims down and shot them, including shooting children less than 1 year old. 7,000 innocent civilian pilgrims were murdered in Blue Star operation, the army let people in but blocked them from leaving, and they attacked during Guru Arjun Dev Ji's Shaheedi purab when Sikh pilgrims were in the temple at near or overwhelming maximum capacity.
@babloo1666

The Indian govt performed a genocide that day, they weren't after "separatists" at all, Sant Bhindran Wale never even demanded Khalistan, he was working for the Anandpur Resolution which already agreed upon by Nehru in 1947 and was completely constitutional and not separatist at all. It was asking for Punjab's constitutional state rights which Indra Gandhi's central government was not willing to give for fear of losing her political seat as prime minister of India. That is also why she instated Emergency when she democratically and rightfully lost the election, even throwing into jail her direct political competitors like Atal Bihari Bajpai, a direct BJP competitior. She viewed Sikhs and Sant Bhindran Wale in the same light and wanted to destroy another possible political competitor. She broke the Indian Constiution twice, and then forced India's own army to break its own Constitution as well by attacking its civilian population which it is suppose to protect.

for Sikhs religion is dharam, and dharam is defined as duty. for a Sikh religion is everywhere, everything has a religion and the responsibility of the adherent is to make sure he/she/it is dutiful to that religion. ie the religion, or dharam, of smoke is to rise, the religion of creeks and rivers is to flow downwards to form the ocean, the relgion of the sun is to rise in the east and set in the west, th religion of gravity is to pull objects towards itself. the religion of a british army officer is to protect the people and work with comrades, the religion of a public office holder is to be honest to the people. Sikhs have a strong sense of religion, that's why Sikhs will be Sikhs, but at the same time realize the religion that is their profession as well. sense of duty is religion. when religion is broken that's when the balance is upset. whether you are breaking the religion of a british army officer, the religion of a Sikh, or the religion of a public office holder.

@SinghDynamite

A war which is fought for a 'just' cause which is free from human emotions that are doused in Lust, Anger, Greed, Attachment and Ego. A righteous war is selfless and it's guidance is driven by Sikh moral compass and should only be fought as the last resort when all measures of dialogue and persuasion have been exhausted. This is the Sikh protocol for a Righteous War (Dharam Yudh).

From a deep thinking .... I learned that Religion is a Discipline Every single particle on the universe is in religion meaning that they are in discipline which eventually is God's will . So one should be known of the need and meaning of a religion .... being a part of Sikh religion our scriptures talk about only one God , His presence in each and every element including human bodies and about experiencing God in a practical way I.e. Calling His name like a child , (chanting ) with love without fear & expectation but with full faith 🙏

I find it very difficult to keep Secularism and religion apart because of the fact that the votes in a democracy are subjective and somewhat dependent on the person(s) beliefs(perhaps religion). So the underlying votes have a religious influence and that's what makes it extremely difficult to keep religion out of secular affairs because underlying basis of decision making is affected by religion.

You're right on one big fact about human nature but not religion as you described.. ppl pick and choose pieces of religion and take it out of context to justify their own preconceived ideas. Thats absolutely correct on communitites as a whole. Religion is not a side story to our current history but in fact a way of life all people should constantly strive to achieve. Of course this requires understanding and enlightenment, and in this day and age (kalyug) this is very difficult to achieve even with GGSJ guiding the way. The youth of today need more examples and methods of understanding how to propogate Khalsa for humanity around the world.

Along the same vein, I'm curious about wtf happened in the 80s? From what I've gathered, some people got pissed about nirankari cause they have slightly different view and started killing them, which set off a whole chain reaction of death and destruction....and this guy is still lauded as some hero. What happened to religious tolerance and progressiveness? I'm not trying to offend, I'm legitimately curious. I've been learning Sikhi and like it, but if you've got fundamentalists out there ready to kill over slight deviations from the established dogma with the aim of creating a theocratic state, how is that any different than Isis?

I wrote this quickly yesterday, its pretty breif but it shows why the armed khalistani movement started: Immediately after independence India redirected a majority of Punjab (only Sikh majority state) out of riparian Punjab to non-riparian states, took control over management of water, in one project it was so fucking stupid/ it would waste so much water transporting it (through evaporation and usage along path- plants and trees along river) that the world bank didn't fund it cause it was fucking retarded, but guess what India went ahead just to take the water from the Sikhs, Took it from the farmlands of Punjab to the desert of Rajasthan(Watch documentary Final assault). Also force all raw produce from Punjab to be processed outside (no funding for mills in Punjab but government money goes to build them ins surrounding states).Next read about Punjabi suba (linguistic/ language thing he talked about in video but I recommend reading more). Divided up India to sabotage the Punjabi suba (he slightly touches upon this - Punjab reorganisation act 1966 I think). 1978 Nirankari, government backed killing of Sikhs on Vaisakhi, killing of Sikhs peacefully protesting. Government buys out Sikh representative party akali Dal (now known as badal dal, run by traitor Badal), akali dal tells bhindranwale to move into Harmandir sahib complex (golden temple complex). BTW Congress started pushing Bhindranwale up at start to contest akali dal majority votes in Punjab. Bhindranwale instead starts fighting for rights of Sikhs instead. Search up doon valley 1982 (replica of Harmandir sahib complex built before bhindranwale moved in to practise military operations - basically it had all been planned for at least 2 -4 years). Bhindranwale starts bringing arms in, for self-defence (listen to some of his speeches [there are a few with English subtitles]). He preached Sikh youth and Sikhs who had broken the Sikh code of conduct to give up drugs, alcohol, meat and pornography and start learning more about Sikhi. Told Sikhs to arm themselves but only to use violence as last resort. India says they attacked Harmandir sahib cause bhindranwale was a terrorists etc. bullshit, there was not a single case registered against him, he was a terrorist who had not committed, incited or funded terrorism he was considered a terrorist cause he was a Sikh advocating for their own rights. The weapons transported into Harmandir sahib for the Sikhs were transported through trucks. There is multiple accounts of police/ army finding guns in the back and letting the trucks in, this further goes to prove that the point of the 84 attack on Harmandir sahib was not cause he was armed it was to destroy Sikhi, during the attack the Sikh reference library and many other extremely rare artifacts were purposely destroyed or looted by the government. But the question here is why did India hate the Sikhs so much? Hindu’s believe in the cast system, which is basically a tool for oppression. 3% of people in India are highest caste brahmins and they can do whatever they want. Lower castes are called untouchables/ Dalits and have been oppressed for thousands of years. Sikh is fully against the caste system therefor it is a direct threat to Brahminism. Indira Gandhi’s ancestry through Jawaharlal Nehru links them to Gangu the person who betrayed Guru gobind singh ji’s mum and 2 youngest sons the 2 Sahibzada to a Mughal officer who then had them killed. Bhindranwale said that an attack on Harmandir sahib would start off the armed movement for Khalistan and it did. Now we are up to your question why did the 1984 November genocide happen? After(during operation wood rose ) and during operation blue star (the attack on Harmandir sahib) labelled all amritdhari Sikhs as terrorist and must be killed immediately, an amritdhari Sikh is a baptised Sikh, so basically declared all Sikhs as terrorists who must be killed. But Indira Gandhi had another more sinister plan to wipe out all Sikhs this was called operation shanti (shanti meaning peace). Beant singh found out about this 10 day before the D-day and asked satwant singh to help him assassinate Indira Gandhi, she was assassinated by the 2 Sikhs on the 31st of October. But what was operation shanti you might ask, il give a brief description and a link (the link will be pretty basic you will have to do some research), so India was going to start a war with Pakistan and say that Sikhs had joined up with Pakistan and were attacking India, India would then bomb every gurdwara (Sikh temple) and kill EVERY Sikh in all of India - very brief read more(www.sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Operation_Shanti). The 1984 November genocide was a much smaller scale of the planned operation shanti (pronounced shaaanti), poorer Hindus and Hindu extremists (from Hindu nationalist groups) were transported armed with iron rods, supplied with kerosene, flammable substances, alcohol and money. They were transported around India (mainly in Delhi) through the government’s buses and trains. Sikhs were picked off killed, raped, popular way of killing us was putting a tire around our necks and setting it on fire, gang rape was rampant the police where involved. Looting arson etc. (search up some highly researched reports by independent groups on this (human rights groups etc.)). This drove more Sikhs to take up arms, putting the khalsitani movement in full swing. This is extremely brief, and we have still have the khalistani movement to talk about (already at 900ish words). We haven’t talked about the government dressing criminals up as sikhs and getting them to commit massacres, rape, extortion and shit to discredit the khalistani movement. btw the 1985 air india bombing the 2nd largest terrorist attack involving planes (first being 9/11) had links to the indian research and analysis wing, a secret agency of Indian government. Every sikh should know this, teach this to every sikh youth and get them to do their own research as well. Im a sikh youth and learning about our history, modern and ancient (in relation to events and age of our religion) is extremely important and has helped bring me closer to sikhi and motivated me more to learn it and commit myself more to it! Western, Asians, EASTERN ACADEMICS, fails to mention indigenous African religion, based on Spirituality in their discussions. British hegemony in their conquest of Africa completely destroys the African religion developed over several thousands of years until the advent of the catholic church in Africa in the early century.. The thesis was Africans were uncivilized and there all the institutions developed the Africans were uncivilized. This very ironic, because Africans were the first Homosapien to inhabit this planet. This fact is well established and verified by White Europeans themselves.

They all talk about peace, but they create communities and a sense of ‘us’ and ‘them’ together with an unwarranted belief that ‘we’ are right and ‘they’ are wrong. There is no objective criterion whereby rightness or wrongness in matters that lie outside human experience can be measured, so the matter rests on social and familial conditioning, not on a recognition of that elusive thing called the Truth. Most religions encourage the assertion of differences, of unthinking, unconditional loyalty to a cause, of belonging to a certain set of ideas, etc., through dress, labels, behaviour or grooming. It is here that the tensions start. As religions are practiced today they are more inclined towards belligerence and intolerance than towards peace. The universal element is missing

Most religions require a certain level of blind faith. Most of them also have subjective statements which could be translated, at times, in more than one way. It's this blind faith and subjectivity which is used by some people to justify questionable ways. For instance in Sikhism, Binderwala had positive intentions of promoting Sikhism but people are unable to seperate his devotion from his means. He used questionable means to achieve his goals which clearly resulted in lot of violence. Yet people are unable to look upon him in that way, they think because his intentions were right they will find justification in Sikhism to make right all his moves. While clearly the results of his acts speak otherwise they just cant separate his intent from his means.

@@jonron3805 the government had been planning the attack on the Golden Temple for years they had a replica built in Doon valley for this purpose. As a result of the continued redirection Punjab is going to become a desert soon.

@@sukitron5415 The facts you stated itself show how wrong Bindrenwala was. Let me give you a few facts 1) Indian Government has a replica of not only Sri Harmandir Sahib, the even has a replica of VaishnoDevi and Tirupati temple. Guess why? Not cause they want to harm them, its called proactive planning in case something happens. And YES these existed since the 70's. 2) US army has a replica of even White House apart from other important places for its army to practice in case some incident like "White House Down" happens. Not cause they want to cause harm its cause of practicing for any untoward incident. 3) Punjab is NOT a desert after half of century of the the Anandpur Sahib resolution. Infact its still one of the major producers of crop in India. 4) India is ONE country so sharing of resources are natural. Just like ANY other country. 5) Can you tell me which government would be stupid enough to destroy a natural high production source of revenue and an essential item for a country? Its called the Granery of India and if the state becomes a desert it would damage Indias food security, internal revenues and exports of grains. Why would any government do so.
