Throwing a scrub allows you to lose speed in the air. You can go faster if your able to scrub or whip. Your dumping off your speed at the very top of the jump while also keeping yourself low to the ground

Thanks for the vid Tyler. It proved the point we discussed. Time to teach an old dog new tricks.. Back in the day, landing ramps were not a thing, it was just send it boner air. With takeoff ramps so steep that's not practical anymore. Lots of injuries from scrubbing mistakes, dragging a peg. It appears that more energy is exerted?

@@TheMxFactory I’d say average at trails, I’ll hit some jumps but sketched still on preoloading before I hit it and speeds vary a lot when jumps are found on the trails. Yesterday I was rusty a bit I felt but in couraged my self by remembering to squeeze with my legs, now if I can just commit to it I’d feel a lot better riding fun and safe. I have 4 kids that ride and I’m trying to show my 13year old son a safe way to do this sport and found u and AJ contanzaro offer the best of all aspects. I guess what I need to see more of is actually trail rides with better technique to follow, but it’s hard finding that where I live. I’d say I’m an alright rider that listens to advice well but can only do whats near me. I’d like to hit some vet tracks, as I’m only 38 and this is my passion, a bike to me is an art form that’s meant to be used for its purposes, enjoying life. Thanks for replying back and hope to get better knowing what to do when I’m out and about.

Dope videos, I have my Daughter watch these over anything else when she asks for “screen time” I race MX2 only just getting back into it again after 4 years off. I have found the place I’m losing time against other riders is the breaking i do before the jumps you can’t hit at race pace. Yet can’t seem to work out the “scrub” I feel my issue is the lack of confidence I have with my grip through my ankles.

Just realized how easy this will be. All you have to do is turn the bars off a jump. As you turn them, follow the feeling of the bike. It works with tiny jumps too, you just can't whip it as big.

Wouldn't a true comparison be to do it like we did back in the day where you soak up the pre load with your arms and legs? To me scrubbing is more to stay loose. But most people who "scrub" are actually doing more if a half ass whip and I think it cost them time.

Do you feel like the lap time difference is solely contributed to scrub vs not scrubbing, or is it partly that when you're turning laps while scrubbing you're flowing naturally around the track versus trying to ride in an unnatural way such as during the "not scrubbing" laps? Obviously scrubbing let's you hit a jump faster, but trying to focus on not scrubbing seemed to mess with your game lol.
