Does STACK & TILT Work For Driver?

“Stack and Tilt is great for irons, but it doesn’t work with the driver, right?”
WRONG! In fact, Stack & Tilt co-founder, Andy Plummer, will tell you that Stack & Tilt was DESIGNED FOR THE DRIVER!
So if you’ve “tried” Stack & Tilt, but can’t get it to work with the driver, then you’re doing it wrong.
Today’s video will explain how having your WEIGHT FORWARD for the driver is the gateway to greater DISTANCE, and the ability to DRAW the ball with ease. Swinging this way also removes the variable that shifting your weight back and forth brings which is the root cause of your inconsistency, weak slices, and lack of distance. It's also kinder to your body!
Once you understand HOW to swing with your weight forward, you’ll never want to do it any other way!

Rob hello from the U.S. You are the best teacher of S@T. There are good ones like Nick T your friend and Tom Saguto but everytime I watch something to improve my S&T swing you seem to have just the right info to make clear. Quick example my driving was good but a bit inconsistent and just watching your video on Driving I realized my stance was too narrow. By widening my driving is better than ever. Thanks brother

I’ve only been golfing two years and I was doing good with driver and lost it out of nowhere and went to the range today and realized I wasn’t putting a lot of weight on my lead foot anymore and soon as I did I was bombing them again. Had to check KZfaq to make sure that was a thing for swinging driver. Makes a huge difference and almost impossible not to make a good connection and it also feels really good and makes your back foot lift up and twist naturally like it should as your body turns and rotates around the lead foot with the weight on it

I am currently playing hickory clubs. What's amazing Rob is I applied your techniques to my swing in hitting 100+ year old driver, brassie and spoon. It has definitely worked and is straightening out the ball flight from the tee and fairway. I have more work to do, but to me this proves that your S&T techniques are essentially "timeless" and apply no matter the club being played....even 100 year old hickories. Cheers mate.

Just off to buy a new driver this morning and this video has come at the right time. I use S&T for my other clubs but struggle with a big hook with the driver. I’m hoping, on the machine today I’ll be able to put this information into practice to get the right driver for me. Looking at 10k ping and Taylor made. I was definitely putting the whole body forward instead of just the lower body. Funny but that doesn’t happen with my irons. Think I’m trying to put too much effort into the driver. Thanks Rob, great video, concise and very timely.
@scooter5940

I am still learning the stack and tilt but had similar issues. I think it doesn’t happen with the irons because the iron stance is narrower, so your spine is more neutral. You can feel the weight forward without exaggerating it. With the driver, the wide stance and the ball forward makes your spine tilt back (towards the trail foot) slightly, as it should. That doesn’t feel right for the S&T, so you compensate by really trying to bring your weight forward, which messes up the spine tilt you need to launch the driver with an ascending swing. At least that’s what I was doing, until I figured it out finally.

Thank-you from for showing me how to control low point and reduce variable and compensations as my ability to transfer my weight forward is much reduced due to a lack of flexibility, back and age related issues.

Great video Rob, clear, concise, data driven. I'm a senior and a recent convert to S&T, while I have a ways to go it has dramatically improved my driving ability (I'm an 8 index). I still tend to overdraw the ball with my irons (and hybrids) so I need a video on why that is happening...i have my suspicions but want to get the expert's advice. Again thank you these are great videos - straightforward and data driven!

On Monday I finally put all the pieces together. I hit 300 balls at the range. Hitting a consistent draw for the first time ever. Once I figured out how to use it for driver I couldn't believe the results. I hit my 9°driver higher than I've ever hit it, carry was around 230m, big high draw. ( my usual distance is 225m including roll out)I'm in love with stack and tilt. I've been trying to learn the conventional swing for 3 yrs. I'm 56yrs old and in pretty good shape.I've hit around 60k practice balls, numerous lessons and nothing but the misery of inconsistency. I've even had to recover from a sore trail foot caused by my inability to master the weight shift. Thanks to Mike and Andy for reinventing the golf swing. I see ppl getting lessons and the movement pattern they are trying to learn is nearly impossible to master as and older person. I'm looking forward to enjoying this great game and achieving my goal of a single figure handicap.

I’ve been watching and learning via all the videos and my game has improved a ton, went from 80’s to 70’s almost instantly! Driver is still my struggle and it’s the only club! I find my ball coming off low and hooking or block, it seems my plane is to high. Today I noticed that head was coming off the ball, with the tilt it would go in front then on down swing move back how important is head being still?

Great content again Rob. Been guilty of reverting to sitting behind the ball at address with driver and a big shoulder tilt. Will go back to weight forward with the lower centre. Fantastic video. One question: With all of the other clubs in the bag, should we also be setting up with our weight forward by bumping the hips slightly forward? If so, I assume there is a smaller hip bump as the clubs get shorter. Is there ever a club or occasion when we *should* get the lower *and* upper centers forward at address? Thank you very much.

For all clubs, when you take the ball back in your stance for a draw and get your setup right (hands forward and up, closed shoulders and hips etc), do you take a slightly closed grip or do you grip it straight and let the alignment/swing path take care of the rest? Eg when I set up for an 8-iron with the ball in middle of my stance for a push draw, do I need to slightly close the grip or just leave it square? With a square grip, with ball in centre and stance set up for draw, the clubface is open to target and I get concerned it is going to block to the right.

Bryson does this very thing. I don't know if he would say that he uses stack and tilt but he has found the best way to hit it far and that is using your legs and set up like this. I have a video of him at the PGA Championship and it was amazing how much weight he left on his front side!!

Hi Rob. Thanks for this. Would you do the same for irons ie just the pelvis forward rather than the whole lead side?
@MaFaKeys
@MaFaKeys 8 ай бұрын
Thank you Rob! Three weeks ago I went from consistent driving to completely mishitting the driver by applying the wrong tilt. Yesterday I changed it and moved my pelvis towards target putting more weight on my front leg amd creating a natural tilt from there. Not only does it make rotating through a lot easier, other also creates a consistent in to out path and making the ball fly straight to the target. It’s work in progress, but I believe the way forward! Do you have any advice for us “55+ age” golfers how we can get some extra move,ent from first parallel to top of backswing? I feel like I really lack flexibility to move the arms up from that point and it then makes the swing inconsistent.

I noticed in the S&T video he has his trail leg slightly straight, and lead bent. Is that the proper set up? I assume that is a good check point to know your weight is on the lead side and the trail leg is almost preset for the backswing. P.S. You da man Rob!
