Thanks for informing us Dr Ngwashi. I suggest we talk about how to properly store breast milk in one of our later episodes. This is important given the fact that most of our women these days are working class and are usually back to work 3months post-partum and hence the recommended 6months exclusive breastfeeding is not practiced.

Yes, you can do that except in cases like HIV infected Moms which we advise against to reduce rate of transmission to baby. But in the first 6 months, we strongly recommend exclusive breastfeeding.

I'm frequently asked about foods causing colic. Like beans and broccoli. Some even go as far as saying onions and other dark green vegetables. What would you advise?

These foods may produce lots of gas during the fermentation process in the intestine but for that effect being passed to the baby, I have not had the experience.

In other for the woman to be comfortable (not breastfeeding for a long time) can the husband suck the milk to reduce it to a favourable amount instead of expelling it out?
