As an outdoor enthusiast, constantly seeking to enhance the comfort and convenience of our overland journeys, finding the perfect sleeping solution is paramount. In this review, we have taken the advice of some friends of ours, Will and Kate with Venture2Roam and try an inexpensive rooftop tent for our very first RTT. In this video, we are installing their clamshell design found on Amazon and delve into the features and overall experience of integrating this innovative rooftop tent into your expedition rig.
Unboxing and Installation
Upon receiving the Naturnest Rooftop Tent, the first impression is one of durability and quality. The package includes everything needed for a seamless installation process, from the sturdy aluminum telescoping ladder to the comprehensive instruction manual. With a bit of assistance, the tent can be securely mounted atop your Jeep Wrangler within a reasonable timeframe.
Design and Construction
Crafted from 305 grams of anti-resistant plaid Oxford cloth, the Naturnest tent boasts a waterproof grade of 3.5, ensuring a dry and comfortable interior even amidst inclement weather conditions. The streamlined ABS hard shell not only reduces wind resistance but also enhances fuel efficiency, a crucial factor during long-distance expeditions. Additionally, the tent's sunfastness and pressure resistance further underscore its durability and suitability for rugged outdoor use.
Comfort and Convenience
One of the standout features of the Naturnest Rooftop Tent is its spacious interior, capable of accommodating two adults comfortably. Equipped with a triple-layer mattress and bottom oak board, it provides a plush sleeping environment conducive to restorative slumber after a day of exploration. The inclusion of an LED light strip ensures ample illumination during nighttime hours, while the USB module allows for convenient connectivity to external power sources.
All-Weather Performance
Whether traversing snow-capped mountains or traversing arid deserts, the Naturnest tent excels in providing a safe and comfortable refuge in all weather conditions. Its 100% waterproof and blackout construction, coupled with UPF 50+ sun protection, instills confidence in its ability to withstand the elements. The addition of mesh windows and awnings enhances ventilation while keeping rain and sun at bay.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Naturnest Rooftop Tent embodies the epitome of innovation and practicality in the realm of outdoor accommodations. Its robust construction, spacious interior, and all-weather performance make it a worthy investment for any overland enthusiast seeking to elevate their outdoor adventures. With the Naturnest tent as your trusted companion, rest assured that your nights under the stars will be nothing short of extraordinary.

I own the same RTT. A couple of tips...when setting up the spring rod poles, its easier to put them in the base first & then hook them through the loops. When packing it away, you'll want to use the velcro straps to hold the cover down and then do your tucking. Once you have everything tucked away, then use the metal latches. You can adjust the ladder angle by collapsing it a bit from the top rung down. Nice walk around, its a great tent.

Thank you for your compliments. I’m really happy to hear you’ve been running the same tent and still love it. Thank you for the tips. I guess the more I use it, set up and break down, the more I’ll learn the most efficient ways to set up and break down. I see you’re in the Ozarks? Man, that is a bucket list for me. It looks amazing there and I’d LOVE to explore the Ozarks one day. It’s not that far from me… I just need to make the plans.

You are going to love it Christy. It was super easy to install. We went on an adventure last week and it was soooooo comfortable. I slept so awesome (except for the obnoxious group of young campers about a quarter mile down the road who wanted to party until 4:30am 😢)

Very nice rooftop tent. I like the rain flap overhangs on all 4 sides. The diesel heater opening is awesome.

Thank you, Todd. That is the big benefit why I chose this tent, to have windows on all four sides. It’s really nice however the trade-off is it’s not as easy and quick to close as the traditional clamshell rooftop tents. But I really do like open windows on all sides

Do you know the dimensions from mattress to ceiling? Also are the window sides able to open the mosquito nets too? Thanks

Right off hand, I do not. Next time I open it, I’ll measure it. I can tell you that I am right at 6’ tall. Laying down, I can stretch out the full length. Sitting up inside the tent, I have an estimated 1’6” from my head to the ceiling. I’ll measure it for sure and will let you know.

Just a word on those M/T tires you better rotate every 2 ND oil change. If you want them to last..I know you aren't familiar with those type tires they won't last if you don't do it..
@RoadRashOffRoad
@RoadRashOffRoad 21 күн бұрын
thank you Scott. I welcome all advice from others. I can tell you I have been pleased with these M/T's by Kenda Klever. I rotate them religiously every 4000 miles, even rotating in the 5th spare on the back. with that said, I have gotten over 70,000 miles on this set of tires and have maybe 7,000 miles left to go. I have put them through hell and have never had an issue with them. I will be replacing these with another set of Kenda Klever M/T's.... that's how much I like these tires.

@@RoadRashOffRoad Yeah. The rest was fine, but that opening stuff...I was a teenager during the MTV era, I didnt like that crap then either, lol. Tent looks like a good deal, but I cant find it here in Australia.

Oh man… you’re in Australia? Dude, that would be bucket list kind of overlanding and exploring. What an amazing adventure that would be. I’ll ask the tent manufacturer if it’s available anywhere in Australia

Whats wrong with camping on the ground? youll get alot more room and wont have to kneel and pee down the side of the car in the middle of the night.

“To each their own” Me personally, I don’t sleep 100% in a ground tent. I can never go completely asleep. I am always slightly awake, listening for animals in my campsite, or concerns with rain if the water is going to come up through the bottom of the tent. Also, when you’re only in camp for one night and packing up and leaving for another camp the next night, it is super easy and convenient just to pop open the tent and pull it shut.
@elsewhereoverland
@elsewhereoverland Ай бұрын
You just climb down & find a tree. If you're in a ground tent, you're getting up off the ground or cot and getting out of the tent...its exactly the same effort. I sleep tons better in mine vs a ground tent. High & dry no matter how much rain falls overnight. And who's peeing on their car in the night? Gross.
