Is "love the sinner but hate the sin" or "hate the sin but love the sinner" in the Bible? Is it a biblical concept? How can we separate hating sin from our love for people who are created in God's image?

Im about to embark on having my brother live with us for a short while.He isn't a believer as he too has an exaggerated view of sin & God.He cannot see beyond that, though as christians we know that the more you get to know God the better we understand how sin hinders not only our own salvation but our relationship with God or without Him in it. Without Him we then tend to re-route and try to find more of an inferior source of spiritual and emotional dependence. ... in everything else but the true source.This is my brothers issues, identifying with inferior brand products🙂

I know it may be too late, but I wanted to point you to 2 Cor 6:14-17 which tells us to not be yoked with unbelievers and to be separate from them. We mistakenly let a family friend (whom we knew was an unbeliever) live with us last year and it didn't last because he felt too offended by the loving truth we offered (even though we suffered in silence amist his loud and innapropriate phonecalls, TV shows, and general works of the flesh). Jesus did say that the world will hate us because of Him, and also that the Word of God is foolishness to those who are perishing. It is very very unwise to share a home with those who are at enmity with God. Being friends, ministering to them...etc... are all GOOD to do and encouraged by scripture. But we are not to mesh our lives together with theirs. The Bible instructs us to open our homes, wallets, hearts etc to our Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST, but not so with unbelievers... Romans 6... 14Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? 15What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people. 17Therefore come out from among them and be separate," says the Lord.

"Jacob have I loved and Esau have I HATED". "God is angry with the wicked everyday". "If ANY man come to Me and HATE not his father....and his own life also he CANNOT be My disciple" - Jesus, Luke 14:26. There seems to be different shades of meaning and contexts to the word "love".

If people reject God's spirit, it appears that there's nothing that can be done to save them. The sin against the holy spirit is unpardonable.

If that is what the unpardonable sin is , some think that was the pharisees denying his Godhead , they said his power came from Beelzebub , so THAT is also a good reason to wander CAN we even commit the unforgivable sin today ?

Sometimes it's just to plant a seed, it may take multiple people to shed light on that sin. As well as living the Christian life, so other can see Christ in us. Pray for that individual. All in God's timing.

Only Hardness Heart Rejects GOD. It Is Written! KJV - John 12 : 40 “He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.”

Romans 8:5-7 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Good teaching but the passage in John 8 is absent from most reliable manuscripts, and my ESV Bible notes point out that this passage should not be used for teaching.

I'm reminded of that place Jesus went to pray with his deciples before He was crucified. It was per history told at the same spot where was that open portal to Hell where Baal worship was practiced and performed on a Weekly?daily bases. That was where he stated to Peter that upon this rock I will build my Church! this is the most humbling statement By Jesus to me! Forgive my unbelief in times of trials Lord.

Please speak about head covering. Am attending a church where headcovering is practised. Well, i don't sometimes feel comfortable wearing it, but I want to fellowship with God's people. I wear it inorder to love them so that i don't bring anyone into sin. Sometimes i just feel they are being legalistic. It's a baptist church.
@Tay-cg1pt
@Tay-cg1pt Жыл бұрын
It’s not legalistic if they’re not making you wear it. They can suggest it but it shouldn’t exclude you from worship. That being said, I would say your view on head covering be something that comes from your relationship with God. You’ll find people in our faith who agree we should wear it and some who think we don’t. Let the Lord lead you. Personally, I do feel we are supposed to cover our hair. People say it was a cultural thing but Paul appealed to creation and the angels, not the culture of colossae. I haven’t figured out if this is specific to wives only or women in general. And the head cover is for when we pray. It doesn’t have to be worn the entire service. On that note, in the same passage it also says men should not be covering their head during prayer and shouldn’t have long hair in general. That also is a taboo topic and I agree with the Word of God but also take into account there are well meaning Christians who have different interpretations. I really don’t know what to do about that because we are so divided in several aspects of Gods word. I have Christian friends yet each one holds at least one view that I don’t feel is biblical (yet not explicit in the Bible). Do I count it as sin heresy or just plain difference of opinion?? I don’t know…

be wise as serpents and gentle as doves, calling out sinners in a crowd or at an event probably won't be received as a loving experience. How would you respond to a very close loved one, genuine love and pray for change of heart. some peoples choices make us sad but we don't stop loving them and they should know this

Before I even hear this , I know from The KJV Bible, that we are to love one another, we are also to to hate sin, for sin is the thing that separates us from God, but Christ The Lord died for our myriad sins , and the sins we dont even realize are sins ! Sin is our default condition , we are ALL sinners , this is not hard, but harder for some more than others, we even should forgive people who sin against our family and the body of Christ . Sin is condemning us to hell , and its impossible to 'turn from our sins' try as we might , THAT is why we need to ALL turn to Jesus , because we cant forgive ourselves into heaven.

Sin needs to be addressed. We are not to blindly forgive everything done by unrepentant sinners. If you love them, you encourage them to sin no more. _Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and _*_if he repents, forgive him._*_ And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”_ Luke 17:3‭-‬4 LSB

@@petros-estin-petra- I get that , but we are still by default sinners , Jesus died on the cross for ALL our sins , thats why he said It is finished 3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. 4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

I find it very difficult to point out the sins of my loved ones because they don’t understand the doctrine of original sin and most of them believe they are Christian. At some point i just give up, it’s not as if i can pick them up and carry them to the cross to repent but it really burdens me to know that one day they will stand before a holy God and be judged. If i were to hate the sinner there would be no one else left for me to love.

I understand what you are saying. As people living in 2023 we have softened God's message so as not to offend people. I empathize with your desire to not alienate your family. I feel for your situation because we do need to tell them the truth but very often we need to be careful how we word it. God hates sin because it causes the sinner to be a vile stench in his nostrils. I like the word "warning". I say I need to warn you your sun is a stench in the nostrils of God. That sounds harsh but it's the truth. By using the word warn or warning it diminishes the idea we are judging them. Our king told us we can't serve two masters. Our father is like a very stern and strict parent. We can't escape the truth about our father. Moses taught God is merciful and has compassion but he never let's the guilty go unpunished. Many believers have tried to portray God as a cute Koala bear. He's not, he's more akin to a 700 pound adult male Bengal tiger.

Even if it is technically right, it is rather useless to say. It is not a distinction an unbeliever would make, nor anyone else who sees themselves as their sin. That uselessness makes the statement Scripturally lacking.
