In today's drawing video, we're going back into the sketchbook, and once again expanding the page by using double-sided tape. Using a Pilot G2 07 rolling ball gel pen, it was pretty fun. It's one of those pens that is fairly reliable and consistent, not to mention cheap, since it comes in multi-packs at the office supply stores.

A sketchbook is just a collection of suggested material to contain ink, graphite, paint etc.... your art can spill off onto the coffee table, the walls or whatever surface is near you. Beckoning like a siren leading a ship to the cliffs or the sky inviting a bird to fly. Do what you gotta do to lol.

I studied architecture and now am a graphic designer pursuing my art and content creation journey. Its wayy more common than I realised for architects to switch career paths for a variety of reasons. Just putting this out there for anyone who may feel they enjoy architecture but the end goal of being an architect doesn't feel like its for them. Your studies won't go to waste because the skills you learn in architecture school are invaluable in any creative career. All the best to everyone!

As someone who has also used canvas for college, that program can be really weird. I also found that some of my professors didn’t know how to use it, so there were classes where I couldn’t see my grades either, which is a pain in the butt. Anyways, congrats on a good quarter, and thanks for the video. Have a good one, Peter.

I know a guy who is an Agricultural Architect. He knows about plants, which plants grow to what size and meet regulations in certain areas, like tree can't get too tall to block entire view, but some is ok for privacy. I had no idea that was a thing. He said he's still a regular architect, but also designs, or fixes, the living things around a srructure

@@lukes8727 I wish I knew how much time you will be spending in the studio. With my program. Sometimes they had different projects due every other day. So it took a lot of time to be able to balance that with other school work.
@noname-td5jv
@noname-td5jv 2 жыл бұрын
@@lukes8727 it might be hard, but for classes that aren't architecture related try to get the work done as early as possible so you have the most time to work on the architecture classes. It's really not fun being productive in the studio and needing to take a break to work on other works that are due at midnight, it cuts the flow off, makes you feel more tired, and makes it harder to continue working.

I did not decorate this year again Peter for Christmas. It is just such a huge job for me as I have this Santa Workshop theme (which I love). So when I see or hear Christmas decor and \ or tunes....I feel like kicking my lazy bum. You know what I mean? NEways, I have a few weeks left then I start a Nanny Job. Cute kiddo I am going to be taking care of. Fun job - but oh my, very early rise? And I am a night person. So somehow I must turn my clock about soon. This kinda stresses me out. But I will not start trying to do it until Christmas Eve I think. So that is how I am Peter. Thank-you for asking? I look forward to more videos from you.

I don't know but being an architect might dampen your creativity which you already have. You've already got a strong style so if there is somehow you can combine that with some kind of architectural illustration, that'd be good. When I went to art school, I had little experience with using professional tools, styles and materials so it was good for me to be introduced to both the history of art and different mediums.

Pretty late but… I was in architecture program, not interior design, but even just standard architecture the field is kind of muddled with a bunch of different disciplines. So many disciplines that the schooling seems kind of jumbled and unbalanced and frustratingly all over the place. I was in a 5 year program 3 years undergrad and 2 years graduate. Ive made it past the first 3 years so far. And I feel more disillusioned than ever. Architecture honestly just gives me anxiety, we’re supposed to be researchers, designers/graphic designers/renderers, artists, sociologists/psychologists, engineers, biologists/environmentalists, lawyers (I.e. understand zoning and safety as well as sign documents), and also historians. And they try to cram all these different aspects into 5 years of schooling, sure I can draft in CAD and manually, sure I know some basic history of architecture, sure I know some extremely basic engineering, sure I know some basics about sociology and how people use/occupy space as well as how to design for the socioeconomic dispositions of certain places, etc etc. The schooling is just really obtuse, I know a little about a lot of things instead of a lot about a few things. But really at the end of the day architecture is just an over glorified and I specialized form of graphic design. An architecture firm works alongside engineers who do majority of calculations and signing off on designs, we outsource the building process to contractors, and the architects just make pretty presentations to show to clients. There’s my disenfranchised rant enjoy.

I am kinda confused and I do not particularly like that from videos I watch for enjoyment. I do like it when you do more than just draw, philosophize and skits are so fun, but this is a bit worrisome, I am not sure exactly why. . . . Well in any case I wish you well and pleasant dreams, I would clean the surface of anything I had sneezed upon. Just for keeping it clean.
