- US weapon systems are performing poorly on the battlefield in Ukraine for a number of reasons including difficulty in sustaining and repairing them, as well as the narrowing gap between US and Russian military capabilities;
- US military industrial output is incapable of keeping up with Russian or Chinese military industrial output;
- The US is provoking and attempting to sustain wars thousands of kilometers from its own shores, straining its capability to maintain let alone prevail in these conflicts;
- A conflict with China will involve challenges many times greater than those the US is unable to overcome amid its proxy war against Russia in Ukraine;
- The US can avoid catastrophe by pivoting toward a more rational and sustainable foreign policy within the framework of a multipolar world and by respecting the primacy of the nation state rather than trying to establish the primacy of itself over all other nations;

The US is a profit driven economy, It, being Wall Street, has no use for infrastructure, education, health, and social issues unless it is profitable. Meaning rent extraction to maximize profit. The US system does not know how to maintain without making a profit. Having anything go into the red is unthinkable. With the exception of their national debt. $34T? Brian, I couldn't of said it any better myself. It's true, that US, will end up facing difficult decisions now onwards. They've already chosen their path, how long they can keep this path, is only a matter of time before it fails, this in the end will force US to rethink their strategy on China. Because they way they're going about it, won't work, it's as simple as that. It's unsustainable as you already said here. The more foreign entanglement, ventures the US occupies it's military assets with, it's resources with, they're overstretched already as is. If people still think that US military, is still as strong as it once was, then think again. The why is, US military hardware not making any difference in Ukraine, regardless of properly trained personnel in Ukraine, anyway that's beside the point. US military hardware in Ukraine has hardly made any difference whatsoever, Patrick Lancasters channel is a testament to this simple fact. Numerous failures of US missile tests recently, shows, that US military, isn't what it's all cracked up to be. Russian troops, are without doubt, tough, can cope in harsh conditions, with what little resources they have, they're winning against a Ukrainian military that's been armed by US & EU essentially. They're still winning. This shows us all that, quality over quantity is the key point here, more doesn't necessarily mean a win, it's how you use it that counts. Sure Russians have taken a bit of a toll, losses here & there, but they're still standing. And if US government, thinks that China's PLA is a pushover, like in Iraq of 2003, then US government better think twice before attacking China. Because China will defend what rightfully belongs to China & our sovereignty, and no other outside country, can say & do anything when it comes to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Diaoyu Islands. All of which are China's sovereignty. Call me an extremist, but I don't care. Some people may be taken aback by my extreme view. Partly the reason why I have this view, is simply because of what I see, reported on rubbish western biased msm, statements, arrogant statements, given by western politicians who simply know nothing about China & the Chinese people. The fabricated lies, the constant propaganda, the ridiculous stories pushed as facts from western rubbish biased msm, etc.

It's a self destructive counter productive approach to international relations including business, with the way things are economically in the west, they need all the business they can get to get out of this slump that they're in, it's of no use to anyone, if the western leaders, start making enemies, instead of business transactions, trade etc.
@zhongguojiayou2675
@zhongguojiayou2675 2 ай бұрын
@@davidlazarus67 For years, decades even, the west was dominant, had no real competition, now that we have emerging economies in the global south, suddenly there's a new kid on the block, & they don't play in the same group as US, UK, EU, they don't play by the same rules as the west, not that the west played under any given rules to begin with. China is a totally different beast to what was once, Germany under Hitler, back then, the Germans were technologically efficient, were growing their economy fast, manufacturing goods, that the west couldn't keep up with, so they went to war with Hitler, now, I must say that I didn't like Hitler either, he was a madman, but having said that, the real reason why wasn't because of Hitler himself, but it was because of the economic reason, I see parallels with history playing out now but with China today. Question is, is the US, stupid enough to start a war they can't finish, or win against China & possibly with Russia & Iran? That would be the beginning of the end for us all. Total annihilation, or as some would say, MAD, Mutually Assured Destruction.

I recall Brian described the lack of necessary support systems for US arms going to Ukraine more than 2 years ago, and he cites this as a reason for their lack of success again here. You can't say that he did not predict it. I still see comments on KZfaq expressing confidence that if US troops were deployed to Ukraine, how they would annihilate Russian forces. It seems that most of the advanced NATO weapons systems are already directly operated by US, UK, French, German forces and we can see how it is going.

Their men are blooded and hardened by equal combat. NATO has been chasing largely civilians through deserts and mountains and it's no contest especially when they simply plaster large areas with bombs. It helps not have any stealth aircraft. Give them a Chinese commercial products are like as well as snhoddiness they built their own country. I remain skeptical about their weapons systems. Pakistan sent back numerous Chinese built warships for being unseaworthy and a high-ranking Chinese shipbuilder just got executed for not even 1/8 assing it on the nations new aircraft carriers. Americans build for profit they want to build a good product because a good profit means more revenue from continued sales. Russians build for service because they know if they build a bad product they will be invaded occupied and murdered. The Chinese are much more self interested, and focused on a hierarchy of relationships and appearance; they aren’t mean to do it well, they won’t and they’ll take the opportunity to sneakily benefit themselves and their families.

They just very carelessly and so casual make those outrageous claim about their weapons..."Our weapons are this and that, and Russia's medieval weapons are no match and blah, blah" only to make themselves look like complete fools. This reminds me of Bernard Hopkins--the boxer--who once said publicly that he would never be "knocked out by no white boy" and that was precisely what happened. He was not just knocked out, he was knocked out of the ring. Very embarrassing indeed.

As a military veteran i can tell you that I would want simple, well made weapons that work. Not exotic, overly complicated, high maintenance, high profit weapons designed to line the pockets of the manufacturer. I assume the ruskie weapons are being built at cost, probably a third of what the US government is paying. So, for the same amount of money, they can produce 3 times the weapons. Not good for the opponent in a war of attrition.

I enjoy hearing your views. At MIT, a professor gave us a sci-fi story to read. The military head of a defeated civilization was explaining how they lost because they were so superior to the enemy. They could build ships that were invulnerable, weapons that could destroy entire fleets and were so superior in technology that they didn't think they could lose. Rather than continue building lower technology weapons and ships, they devoted all their resources to building these super-weapons, but the drain on their resources was enormous. Each system had a 'small' flaw. While the ships were invulnerable, they couldn't fire. Their weapons could destroy a fleet, but it would take hours to recharge the weapon. Meanwhile, the enemy continued to churn out tens of thousands of lower technology weapons and ships. Even though they took horrendous losses, they eventually invaded the enemy home planet and were conquered by overwhelming force. The narrator said that he only wanted to be moved to another cell, rather than be housed with the former head of military technology or he feared he would harm him. This is what is happening in Ukraine. The Russian use of these powerful glide bombs and can churn out THOUSANDS of them and are using them to devastating effect while the US cannot even provide the artillery shells Ukraine needs and the simple antitank technology Russia has created and are using them to great effect is a great example of this story in action.

Methinks people using the CCP abbreviation (instead of the correct CPC) is a throwback to the Cold War mentally. Back in those days Russian athletes had the letters CCCP prominently displayed on their chest, which was, of course, simply the Cyrillic version of USSR. CCP looks very similar to CCCP, and thus, conveniently familiar.

In regards to ccp and colonial names, I'm in Serbia, when ever I go to google, google translates page to Serbian, and uses cyrillic, despite all my settings saying to use english. And there's no option to switch to latin alphabet either. We in Serbia use both latin and cyrillic alphabet interchangeably so it mostly boils down to personal preference, but not accrding to google, google wants us to use cyrillics exclusively. And if you go to google translate, select "from Serbian" and start typing in latin alphabet, it asks you if you meant "Croatian" or "Bosnian". Difference between Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian is basically like difference between British and lamerican English. I'm pretty sure that they are forcing Serbian only in cyrillic and if it's in latin, it's Croatian, in order to further sow division between Balkanians just in case Serbs start to misbehave again. Croats and Bosnians can't read cyrillic, so if they come to Serbia for a visit, they can't read a menu, a store name, a news paper article, nothing, even tho it's all in language they understand. And Serbs are falling for it hook like and sinker, they think that Serbs have invented cyrillics and that Cyrillo and Methodius, two Greeks who have actually invented based of helenica, have invented glagolica, which looks nothing like Greek alphabet, and which was also used in Croatia, despite the fact that Cyrillo and Methodius never went to christen Croatia And despite the fact that glagolitsa reads like an ode to a Slavic god Svarog, suggesting it'd be weird for orthodox priests spreading xtianity to come up with an alphabet that praises the god of ppl they are trying to convert to xtianity... but Serbs want to have their own alphabet, so they pretend that cyrillic one is ours, and if you just mention that it's basically identical to Greek alphabet, they flip out and refuse that idea...

Along Military strength there is the economical and financial position of the US in the world. The Nat-Debt is $34,7 trillion (growing 2,7 billion daily), and there are State and Community depts. Besides of that, most Americans have no savings for their retirements to live of. Even if they own a house, they can't buy new appliancies or maintain anything when they are old. Because the Petrodollar loses market share, the US has less advantage of world economic growth. And let's not forget the worn-out infrastructure (harbors, bridges, railways, etc) falling apart. In my view it won't be long before the US cannot afford any new (proxy-)war. It's over and out. The war in Ukraine is the first sign of that. Macron doesn't see it that way yet.

Brian, like so many independent commentators, really seems to wrestle with how it is that Washington and its western allies have such a huge sense of superiority. Having been brought up in England in the 1960s, I was always amazed in my school history lessons that Britain was always represented as the winner of any battle (even when they actually lost it was a good loss)or of any war, and was always represented as being right to expand and seek to maintain its vast Empire. Countries seeking independence were viewed and represented as ungrateful to the mother country of Britain! This sense of superiority was baked in from our early years, as indeed it still is today in the US education system. Since studying sociology at university, I have come to believe that the Anglo-Saxon culture (in particular) has an extraordinary need to feel itself superior to any other culture. When Brian and others talk about "The West" I think this description is inaccurate. The DRIVERS of The West in geopolitical terms and in its need to control and then control even more, are states like the USA, UK, Germany and France. I don't believe it is so much Spain, Italy, and most Eastern European people (as opposed to their billionaire, western-backed rulers). These cultures, but more importantly, these four political cultures - the US, UK, Germany and France - are Anglo-Saxon and Germanic in their historical world view. So how about replacing "The West" with the global "North-West" and when talking about superiority and hegemony appreciate that the British Empire and the modern American Empire are built upon an Anglo-Saxon political culture. When President Putin talks about Anglo-Saxon countries he doesn't refer to genetics in any way (The USA has been led by an African-American and Britain by an Indian-Britain) but to this culture which goes back many hundreds of years and in which leaders of these states have been culturally educated!

I would only go so far as to say that Russia has the ability to operate in the air in certain areas. Neither side will be able to truly gain a superiority because both sides have effective air defense systems. If this was a conventional conflict, Russia would leverage their long range, strike capabilities to wipe out Ukraine’s manufacturing base, preventing them from being able to resupply their air defense systems, grind them down, and then establish air superiority. However, this is not a conventional conflict. No matter how many factories, Russia destroys, no matter how many fields they fallow no matter how much damage Russia does. Ukraine is being artificially, kept on life-support by the west and resupplied endlessly. Russia destroyed the entire Ukrainian navy, the West gave them more. Russia destroyed the entire Ukrainian Air Force, the west gave them more. Russia wiped out all of their tanks, the west just keeps giving them more …. this war would have been over in a month if the West had not gotten involved far fewer people would have died if it was like a conventional conflict rather than a eternal proxy war to drain Russia

I have always claimed that the US military was never actually tested. The arrogance is to think that US and NATO equipment is so superior ir go the experiences in Iraq in 1991 and 2003 against old Soviet equipment (even for those days). Last but not least Russia never shifted its military doctrine from large scale conflict. Numbers and volumes will eventually overwhelm the quality. This is a lesson the Americans forgot since 1945.

Brian, I worked in Iraq. All of our bodyguards said that Russian weapons were the bee's knees, and many derided western equipment. They all carried Kalashnikov rifles (made in China). That's not to say that Russian military equipment has some special sauce, it's just to say that a well trained Russian military seems to be, at the very least, a match for any Western force. The issue is that Western hubris gets in the way of rational discussion and conflict resolution. The Western day is coming to a close.

@@Marcel-tz9db Marcel, I'm not certain what you mean by your comment but I think you may be trying to say that Russian losses are 7 times those of Ukraine and its allies. I trust that you are not saying this, as all reasonable analysis says that it's pretty much the other way round - although I'll readily say that I don't trust any of the casualty numbers being bandied around. In my early days I worked with an Australian soldier assigned to the US Pacific forces in WW2 and I had friends who served in Korea and Vietnam. None were particularly complimentary to US soldiers or their equipment. Zhukov was right when he said that the West would never forgive the USSR for taking Berlin. The process of stiffling and deriding the USSR and now Russia has become so ingrained in any mainstream Western discussion that we have generations believing the delusional Western hype. Unfortunately this is leading us to insane nuclear war. Personally, I don't care if the USA and Europe blows themselves to pieces - just leave us out. Preferably, of course, we should break this cycle before it is too late
@Matt-yg8ub
@Matt-yg8ub 2 ай бұрын
@@Marcel-tz9db be careful of casualty numbers from only one side. I would encourage you to consider the reliability of such numbers. Ukraine’s casualty numbers are unrealistically low, and their estimates of Russian casualties are unrealistically high. Many will point to a defenders advantage when they claim that Ukraine has defeated vast numbers of Russians….. but I would offer that it is Ukraine that is on the defensive, large numbers of people confined in small spaces with artillery shells raining down in the hundreds of thousands upon them. Russia no doubt takes casualties in this war just like any other, but it is Ukraine. That would logically suffer the brunt of this war. Any claim that they are killing seven times as many Russians, is simply propaganda designed to maintain morale in a losing war.
@Marcel-tz9db
@Marcel-tz9db 2 ай бұрын
@@Matt-yg8ub The reality is, the western estimates of Russian casualties have always been very well substantiated, and evidence based. The Ukraine official figures are inflated, but only to a modest degree. Any figure whatsoever released by Russian officials will be a blatant lie, without exception. For example, Russia believes Ukraine have lost some 15,000 tanks, despite Ukraine never possessing any more than one quarter of that number at most.Early on, when Russia released their first official admission of casualties, they admitted to about 3,000, at a time when actual casualties on the Russian side were known to be approaching 100,000. If you are going to believe ANY figure, western sources are the only ones who base their claims on recorded evidence such as videography or satellite imagery. Pro Russian figures will be based precisely on NOTHING.
@Marcel-tz9db
@Marcel-tz9db 2 ай бұрын
@@balkanleopard9728 There is no reasonable evidence at all to suggest it is the other way around. You cannot FAKE 1000 damaged or destroyed Russian vehicles littering fields around Avdiivka. They certainly aren't Ukrainian vehicles, and they are/were certainly there scattered in pieces across the landscape. So unless somebody faked all those hundreds of videos and satellite images which clearly and concisely showed many hundreds of Russian tanks and APC and IFV getting blown to pieces around 1 of the smaller Ukrainian hold outs, I would conclude that Ukr estimates are accurate.
