Broken Flowers turned me onto his movies. Its some of the best lighting and use of natural lighting I have seen as of in the past 20 years. The story was intriguing as well. I was on the edge of my seat at times even though the pace was slow. Very much a fan of Jimmy

watched it with my room mates three years ago. I was going through a drone metal phase and somehow that led me to LoC. I will say it absolutely enthralled me, however my room mates all hated it. to the point where I thought maybe I'm whacked to have liked it so much. But knowing another person who enjoyed the film, who also enjoys drone, noise, ambient music made me think that perhaps there is a type of person who is open to what other people might call "boring experiences". I enjoy long tedious things built on repetition. you start to realize the nuances and begin to understand that repetition doesn't actually exist. Nobody can stand in the same river twice.

In my opinion, "Dead Man" is Jarmusch's best so far, however, "The Limits of Control" is more of an astounding collection of beautiful visual art pieces, where the story takes a back seat to the visual art presented.

For me dead man is the best but limits is the weakest of his movies. And i know it partly coz i dont get it. But every time i try to watch it, it puts me to sleep. The main guy almost never speaks and his face tells me nothing about what he is thinking or feeling. The plot is boring, even tho i know its not really about the plot. I wish i could enjoy this movie, but its just simply way too slow and boring to me.

@@freebee8221 Now that you mentioned it, I gotta say Dead Man is a big favorite of mine too. Another case of stunning visuals, and the action is for sure more lively than Limits of Control.

I've wathced the movie like 8 - 7 years ago and completely forgot about it, and then rewatched it yesterday, so my experience is close to yours in that way. Fully agree with your words about it. I think, the film, just as Lynch's films for example, teaching us to experience films, not try to break it up and interpret frame by frame.

I just watched The Limits of Control. Although I like most Jarmusch movies, this one left me flat. I get what he was trying to do, but I think it could have been done better. - I'll try it again someday, but not for a long time. Need to watch something good to recover from it.

Sad disappointing really... Hope you redeem yourself by fully understanding and realizing the film; instead of critiquing it in a psuedo psychological & intellectual way... That is all...

He's not from here. Those who contracted him know and are fully aware that he is a "brother from another planet."
