I think tiktok is just damaging to society. Bytedance is the owner of many other apps, (take capcut) which are also being used by americans. Capcut also has a feed (and tberefore algorithm) and I don't see any lawsuits flying their way.

Just skim thru his channel a bit, its clear theres political bias in general, straight up talking about what if's of china being scared of people looking thru the algorithm because of how bad it is, with what proof lmao, while completely disregarding people with israel ties pulling funds to buy tiktok, Trumps Treasury secretary Mnuchin straight up going public about wanting the bill to pass saying hes going to pull funds to buy tiktok 2 months after being on meetings on israel calling investors to spend money on the settlers. But yeah easier to sell NO CHINA BAD, CHINA SPY and do mental gymnastics about media warfare, than to accept theres big pro-palestine support from USA youth. Although i don't like tiktok i disagree with the ban. This is like the common argument where politicians always claim it's to "protect the children". There's so much data mining and data selling from every single social media giant but the US only cares when it's foreign. I don't believe banning will help with anything besides just making everyone find a new alternative.

I like your shorts, but this was such a miss for me. Everyone is so worried about “our data being stolen” (it literally already has) or “the youth being corrupted” (under whose definition?) that no one’s stopped to realise that a LOT of us make a living on TikTok. Genuinely, this is going to hurt a lot of young people that are already struggling financially thanks to the same boomer generation who don’t know how WiFi works or what apps are. So, respectfully, I’m sorry if I don’t agree with you because of might bes and whataboutisms that politicians are wringing their hands over while they slipped this into a must-pass bill for a war none of us agree with (and you can tell by watching TikTok).

i get that content creation is a cool thing to make money from, but the evils of it all still exist with other companies like youtube, twitter, spotify, etc. if you're making money to survive from tiktok, you've already lost "the war." google is pretty much just as bad, but no one gives a shit. the war on that was lost a long time ago. it's all control and propaganda at the top, but tiktok and its format is the zenith of the absolute worst of all social media and the internet as a whole. doesn't mean it should be banned, because free speech and association exists; but you should abso-fuckin-lutely stop using it and relying on it.
