In this video I show off the $60 pipe polishing attachment you can add to any variable speed angle grinder. Ive used these for years and theyve made round tube work so much easier! See below for links to the products I used. As an amazon affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases:

Personally I prefer polishing my pipe by hand. And I polish my pipe a LOT. Pretty much on a daily basis. I used to think all these fancy attachments would provide a superior polishing experience, but honestly, the setup and especially CLEANUP afterwards would always be a major bummer. You really can't beat the quick and easy manual method which also provides that familiar and precise amount of force that you have ultimate control of. Then for cleanup I can I just wipe up with a dirty rag or paper towel and toss out any mess. ;)

That's fine for little 1/4" cold rolled steel you're likely dealing with but some of us have larger diameter pipe that needs polishing. The area needing polishing increases exponentially as diameter increases. You were just asking for it dude ;-)

Also much less chance you'll accidentally apply a 36 grit to the workpiece. That can take some serious time to remedy.

Most the grinders, you can clock the gear head every 90°, it makes the switch and handle in a better location. I built a cordless grinder and sander from scratch to use with the batteries I have, great tool

Chris great video and tool . You might want to put a slice of rubber inside that locking collar ,like the thickness of and inner tube . I think with the bolt addition this would be tighter that a frog ass ,and that's water proof . Nice little tip : It's always good to have some nuts and bolts in the shop. Stay well to your family and you my friend .

Trigger grinders are the best 100%. Anything with an 0n/0ff switch is way too dangerous. I have a few paddles but mainly use DeWalt with the triggers. Also picked up a new Hercules with trigger.

So how would this compare to using a bench grinder with a wire wheel? If that's a stupid question forgive me - I'm new to this kind of stuff
@porthose2002

I bought that exact same product to use with my drill press restoration. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit on the collar of my DeWalt corded grinder. So if you're considering buying this tool, be aware that it may or may not fit your existing grinder.

Same here, it's an easy fix though. I just cut the locking flange off, opened the hole up and tacked the flange back on.

I have the paddle shift M18, and the place where you tightened the plate wasn’t deep enough to hold it in place, I tried with my 6 other corded grinders and it didn’t fit either, I sent it back 😅

Strange! I was able to fit this on both my slide lock grinders and it held up. The first one I put together got used extensively and moved to a few jobs and is still tight in place… I would imagine the QC on these belt attachments isn’t great so maybe just a bad unit?

If you stick a thin piece of rubber between the grinder & the collar you won't have to worry about it spinning & making the collar so tight. Say maybe a piece from a used inner tube from a bike.
