WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZfaqs lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZfaq deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I don’t mind these brands as I own a steeldive but let’s not kid ourselves. This is a copy not a homage, people using technicalities like as long as the name is not on the watch it’s a homage is just lying to themselves. My steeldive is a direct COPY of the Willard. No doubt about it. It would be like If I created a KZfaq channel under the name I like wootches and copied all your videos. And serica do have their name on the dial. Just not in the usual place watch brands have it.

I bought a version 2 few months ago with the PT5000 in it. Gary, the watch is amazing. As far as I know it's just the script on the dial and a signed crown.For what it is worth I think the PT5000 is a much better movement. As a matter of interest the Serica is a little smaller

I have owned the version 2 of this watch for about 6 months. I absolutely love virtually everything about it. The fit and finish, the unusual design, et al. Mine is keeping time at about +4/secs per day. Perhaps my favorite feature is the gorgeous bracelet and the micro-adjustability of the clasp. It takes a little time to get used to adjusting it, but once you do, you are guaranteed a perfect fit throughout the day (mine. incidentally has never pulled a single hair, and I'm a gorilla, lol). You CANNOT go wrong with this one; it's easy to see why this has become a best-seller. Thanks for the review, Gary!

It’s odd because it’s a light watch but the bracelet is so light that it gives the impression that all the weight is on top…I don’t like that either, it’s worse on heavier watches but still noticeable on this one.

I have a white dial V1 with PT5000, and it's a great watch. Great build quality, awesome lume, never had a problem with the mesh pulling hair.

Got one of the earlier versions (Friend of IPOSE printed at the bottom of the dial) with the SW200 movement. Still very pleased with it except for the bracelet that is just too short for my 8 1/4 in wrist. Have been wearing it on a silicone strap instead. Very well made overall and so legible! Excellent lume as well. Cheers

As I recall, v1 had no branding on the crown or buckle and "Friends of Ipose" at the bottom of the dial (the California dial had "Members of Ipose" and "Limited Edition"). Version 2 added the logo on the buckle, added another line of text "IXDAO & IPOSE" (replaced "Limited Edition" on the California dial), and replaced the Friends/Members text on the bottom with "Fabrique En Chine". V2 was supposed to correct the bezel misalignment, but mine is off, so that was inconsistent. There was some annoyance as they shipped out v2 without disclosing the changes. Brand reps also seemed to waffle initially as to the meaning of IX&DAO and Ipose, giving conflicting responses. Version 3 mostly reverted back to the v1 dial, added the signed crown, and seems to have fixed most of the bezel alignment issues. I have the v2 with some issues, but I am happy given what I paid for it. The bezel alignment is slightly off and the dial text is a little off putting, but it is rather small and unobtrusive. That said, getting it with an SW200 for less than $225 USD is a solid deal.

I am so impressed with mine and have had it side by side with the Serica. The quality is very close to the original and I actually prefer the Ipose sizing. Especially the dial size.

Very nice watch Gary! I haven't a clue what they changed but I like it. The only thing I'd change is the bracelet. It is a VERY nice bracelet but I'd personally prefer either a more traditional diver style bracelet or a rubber strap.

The original is a Soprod which has had tons of issues. I have the white dial version that came with a Selita SW200 for under $300. The watch is fabulous. One case where the homage far exceeds the original in overall quality.

I bought a commando with a stp11-1 (manual) . Shity crown action, ver low and erratic accuracy. Contact the brand . No answer…so I swap the movement for an auto seagull v8 st2130(eta2824 clone) . It’s been one year no. +1sec/day. Superb watch and dial. Never buy a soprod , stp anymore

Mine just arrived today. Beautiful watch and bracelet, BUT dial alignment was off enough to annoy me. I had the back off immediately to have a fiddle. I improved the dial-bezel alignment but there is still a little problem with the alignment with the date that I'm reluctant to mess with. ie the dial is not quite perfectly indexed to the movement and that's a manufacturing problem. The PT5000 movement is running perfectly - 1 sec/day and zero beat error! After wearing for today I have to say these minor gripes are mostly forgotten, the watch and bracelet together are just stunning. No regrets.

I had the V2 but the prominent branding on the dial ruined it so sold it on. The update to remove it with the V3 makes it perfect. I considered adding the serica to my collection but why bother when this is so good. Only issue I have on mine is a slight misalignment to the bezel but there's enough friction in the action to have it rest on the marker between the clicks. My first experience with a PT5000 and I have no issues with it at all. Seems accurate enough.

I have the red bezel version - unfortunately, it suffers from a slight bezel misalignment. Seems to be quite common looking at other reviews. You are lucky to get a perfectly aligned bezel, as apart from dodgy bezel alignment, the watch is great.

Glad it gets the ILW stamp of approval. I really wish they would release an NH35. I can afford the $250 or so for the watch, but I can’t afford to toss it if it dies in 6 months or even two years. Thanks as always!

I bought one of those 6 months ago and also love. It is the most accurate watch. The PT 5000 is an impressive movement. My Timegrapher shows 0's across the screen, neither getting nor losing time. I have some pretty expensive watches that don't do nearly as well. It's $250.00 I do not regret spending.

Thanks for the review. Yours is the first review I've seen that mentions the hair-pulling nature of the bracelet. I wonder if IPOSE changed the bracelet on version 3 or if the hair-pulling went unreported by other reviewers. Do any other owners have this issue and, if so, what version do you have?

I think it’s possible for some bracelets to pull the hairs of some people and not others. It’s pulled my hairs more than most bracelets do but I think it’s probably ok for others…?!?

I Bought the Tandorio homage to the homage. 40mm NH35A, Dome Sapphire Crystal Screw Crown Automatic Mechanical Watch with 200 metres of water resistance, white dial version on a rubber strap This suited me as I admire the strap design on this watch, but do not like that style of strap. A delight to wear and in the recent sale, £63, what's not to like

1:45 I love logo'less watches, I personally hate that everything always needs to be branded. I wish more major brands had the option to get the watch without any branding. I really respect serica for going down that path.

I think for me, I'd have to go for either the Sellita or 2824-2 for better accuracy (probably a better chance of accurately adjusting those) At + 10s per day (for me) a watch becomes more of a watch that you love the design of more than its time keeping properties, which for me is the whole point of a watch, though I do understand I could just look at my phone. Different strokes for different folks I guess. If I was ONLY looking to spend $250 though, this would be in with a shout 🙂

If you want accuracy, gift yourself a timegrapher. I did so this summer; since then my NH35-powered Aliexpress homage run at +2 sec/day.

@@RaphaelRousseau Just by buying a timegrapher it improved the accuracy? I'd have thought that taking the back case off and regulating it would be needed. But that would involve buying the right tools to do that too.

@@Nite-owl , you're right, buying the timegrapher isn't sufficient. A basic watchmaker kit with a case removing tool is required. The process is extensively covered in KZfaq videos. Once you have it at home, you don't have to regulate it in several positions: you regulate it for the dial down (1st: beat error, 2nd: deviation) then wear it for a week. Then you have an idea of the difference between the dial-down deviation and the actual deviation. Then you adjust it to compensate that difference.

As far as I know, the version 1 watches had misaligned bezels, all of them. Talking of the bezel, it might not be visible with the naked eye, but under macro the numerals on the inner bezel ring (especially the number 4) didn't look very crisp, I might be nitpicking but I've definitely seen better. Arguably some of the movement choices offered here are even better than with the original. The Soprod calibre used in the Serica is known to have some issues.

Panerai also makes sterile dials. But in this "case", the case (apart from size and sandwich dial) shouts "Panerai" even without branding on the dial.

I love the first time I saw this Serica, and as soon as I saw it I looked it up on Aliexpress and found it. Later I watched numerous review videos from Serica and Ipose and they all came up with the conclusion that the Clonemage came out better than the Original. I've still yet to buy it since I been collecting other watches. I gotta say I like the Califronia version a bit better. Great video

It does not pull my arm hair but I am not a hairy man / ape . Had this watch for 6 months and it is the perfect all rounder which suits the Office , Bars , restaurants. A great looking slim light everyday watch that goes with any outfit in any occasion. I would have bought the Serica but the Movement is faulty and they do not intend to fix it .

@@ilikewatches Wow, thanks for the referral to the Proxima one! Do you have an affiliate link to that, so I can support you there? The Proxima one is smaller (39mm), thinner (11.8mm), has a display caseback (which I'm a sucker for), a fully lumed bezel (!), and though I'm not sure, the pictures make it look like they've used applied indices rather than just direct ink/lume on the dial. Could be a huge winner! I see Proxima also allows a customized logo, which I've never done, but this might be the watch to do it on! :-)

(and for completeness, the Proxima one also has a PT5000 or SW200), but also has a regular bracelet, not a milanese. (Which to me is an advantage, I'm not a milanese fan.) Only problem is I really can't decide whether the white dial or the black dial version of this watch is better; both are attractive.

This seems like the only IXDAO watch I would buy, not because they don't make beautiful watches, but because I can't stand the name IXDAO being on the dial. Not having the ridiculous name front and center on the dial is a massive win, to me.

If only they had made a 39mm with the SW200 movement, with 300m WR like the original and a slightly less thick case (like the original) for about £200 the money would have left my bank account by now. These little things are just holding me back ever so slightly, otherwise it's one of the best hommages out there and the only hommage I'd really consider

@@ilikewatches Serica is a microbrand - a minnow in comparison to the clone manufacturer (and don't kid yourself, this isn't a 'homage' no matter how you try to justify it). The clone maker isn't a plucky underdog taking on the 'big-boys' of watchmaking. Serica has also had to bear the cost of design development and marketing, which the clone maker has benefited from . Do you advocate this kind of theft from all microbrands who have a fraction of the development and marketing budgets of a Rolex or Seiko, and with returns to match?

In version 2, unfortunately, they put their name prominently on the dial. V1 and V3 look better. I should have waited, but the version 2 with the SW200 was very cheap at that time.

I've been fighting the urge to pick one of those up for some time and you didn't help me! The only thing I don't care for is the bracelet. Aside from the hair pulling, that sort of clasp doesn't seem very secure at all. OTOH, I'm sure the watch is a "strap monster".

The only thing going for the original is it's slightly smaller. Otherwise they completely shot themselves in the foot with a killer design, next to no branding and a disappointing movement. Ipose ought to sell more than the original.

Putting the tardemark on the dial means nothing. This does not justify any design protection.

The point I was making was that the original being sterile and the homage being sterile makes them look even more similar

Effectively it's more than 10% of the cost of the original. Though you can't buy it so there is that. Typically I turn to homages when the cost of the original is too high and/or the original is not available. Here we have the second one.

I find promoting these Serica clones morally objectionable. This isn't like other homage watches that copy the 70-year-old design of a Rolex submariner. Nobody who is in the market for a Rolex will buy a Chinese copy. Rolex isn't really hurt by homage watches. Serica, on the other hand, is a microbrand that came up with a unique, recognizable design and I can very much see their bottom line being impacted by these straight up clones. Don't you feel at least a bit of compunction when you earn affiliate money from promoting clones that screw over a small microbrand?

Way to rub salt into the wounds of Sercia. I think it is sad that first a company would exploit a stealing another company's design but you would support design theft. Shameful.

Especially a microbrand which has borne the expense of design development. This isn't a homage - it's a clone pure and simple.
