It was a nationalistic song about Australia, to a large extent about the devastation that developers had done to the Australian wildlife and nature. The coffin at the end was meant to represent the death of the Australian natural world at the hands of developers. The "teddy" they were dragging behind them is a koala bear, one of the main, well known animals of Australia. Notice when they guy was sat in the tree playing the flute, the toy koala was hanging there with a rope around its neck. Australia is known as "the land down under" purely geographically. When you see a globe of the Earth with north at the top, Australia is "down", and "underneath" the planet.

AC/DC came from 'down under' (Australia 😂) and plenty of Aussie bands came out after them in the 80's - Men At Work, INXS, Little River Band, Ice House, etc. Pop stars Olivia Newton John and Kylie Minogue also came from there... The Men At Work song is basically about traveling the world and meeting other Aussies living abroad...😂

The moment with the Dunlop Volley is the funniest thing ever committed to video. They are literally the cheapest shoes you could buy but were perfect for the beach - that it's held up as something magical is meant as a joke as are most of the video references. Zombie = Strong Weed Chunder = Vomit Vegemite = A dark blacky-brown spread made of the by-products of beer production - it's super salty.

This is a beautiful song, well constructed! ALove it. But… please keep an open mind. The back part of the song is a drug den in Bombay India, not the most positive side of humanity. The front side is totally fun…vegetable sandwiches, beer, women, etc. Then the finale, white dudes in white clothes, separated by a slave driver in black clothes, working a crew in black, carrying a black coffin? It could be stereo equipment, etc. the grind of the music business. But I think y’all nailed it. It’s the soul, they sold it, “beware of the thunder”…. I also think it was predictive programming from many years ago. That black box represents the death of Australia as a nation. Just look at what they have done to their citizens during covid. Locked down and out for the count…….
