I’m so glad that this help, it feels a little less scary when you can know we what to expect, and just remember time flies by so fast try to see the outcome of her walking again and fat in a stick of running after a ball or just having fun and being herself. That will bring quicker healing as well. Have a wonderful day.

It’s so crazy how much we can love our animals. They’re so precious they’re so unconditional and they give you so much high energy and vibration. That’s why it hurts so much more when they’re hurting we hurt.. But we have to be stronger than them and show them that they can do it. They’re strong they’re brilliant they’re beautiful and they can get through it and we’re their support system.

Awwwww I will be saying a pray for you and your precious Dog , it was more painful for me than for her , she is not recovered yet , the true is , I WISH I HAD BEEN MORE CAREFUL WITH REALLY keeping her in her cage , because we love our beloved animals so soooo much , I thought it would be more helpful if I made a big bed on the floor and then I could lay next to her and give her more comfort being next to her , and it did make her feel better but I forgot to put a gate at bottom of my stairs , and Stella was fast asleep passed out on our big floor bed , So I quickly ran upstairs to go fold my laundry , And guess what? When I turned around after about the third shirt I was folding and there she was standing right there looking at me , (ugggggg) I screamed out of fear of what she must have done to her busted up knee, the vet warned me , and said , there’s absolutely no steps for at least 2 months . I felt awful and mad at myself for not thinking ahead , especially because I was so strict about so many other things, so she would stay safe , The BOTTOM LINE IS !!!!!!!! Listen to your VET , when they tell you to keep them caged for two or three weeks, don’t take chances, especially the first two months, If you sacrifice your own feelings to know and believe that your sweet animal is fine in the cage and they are truly safe , and you were not a bad parent, you’re actually loving your animal more by doing the right thing for them even though they don’t understand. Keep your precious dog 🐕 safe . you will be blessed in the long run for it , and so will they . I actually went to the vet recently April 19,2020 to get her knee looked at because she’s been limping so much more, they told me to rest her for 34 days and give her anti-inflammatories , and if it doesn’t get better then they may have to go back in to surgery and find out what happened. Uggggggg my heart breaks to even think about having to go through that all over again . I will keep you posted 👋

Coach - Kimmy, Thank you very much for sharing this with me. I know how painful this must be for you and I’m truly sorry. Don’t be so hard on you. It’s easy to look back and think about taking better choices but you did exactly what you believe was the right thing to do for her and for you as well. I’m learning through your process and for this, I will be forever grateful, but I can totally relate with what you did, (thinking about how she could feel depressed and trying to show her all the love and caring to comfort the pain) because I have being doing the same things. Today, thanks to you, we have a chance of learning from it. Please, let me know how your furry baby is. I hope she doesn’t have to go to surgery again, but if she does, now you know...

Yes, Stella is doing absolutely wonderful. It’s many years later I don’t let her run or play as aggressive as she used to but she still plays with Duke for a limited time. I let her do a little bit, and I have another dog Duke and they’re best friends and it’s just so wonderful to see the recovery go so well, inspite of my mistake not putting a gate at my steps the 2nd day she was home, her recovery was probably 80% because the second day she was home she walked up the steps because I wasn’t thinking and I forgot to put the gate there. Ugggg I felt awful but you can’t change the past, I just had to keep pushing forward to her recovery.

@365Malinois thank you for sharing this video. Max just had ACL surgery one week from today. The biggest struggle I have is how to keep him from getting at his stitches. He has a cone but can still reach around and did today and kind of nibbled at his sutures which scared the shit out of me. I was just curious what you did because in your video you show it healing as an open wound in the open air not covered. I took a hospital sock cut off the end and slid it up his thigh and then wrapped it hoping he doesn’t get at it but the biggest struggle I have is trying to keep him from jumping or getting at his stitches, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@coach-kimmy
@coach-kimmy Жыл бұрын
I just want to share also with you there’s a great oil that you can put on those stitches it’s called Castrol oil. It works wonders on the skin it heals quickly it’s also good for their hair if they ever have missing or bald spots it’s good for their nails it’s good for so many things. You probably have to get a bigger cone for him so he can’t reach around and grab those stitches. Remind yourself that you love your dog so much that that is why you have to keep him safe from himself. I’ve learned not to feel bad When I have to be strict or strong with them. You have to do what keeps them SAFE and keep them from hurting themselves. ❤️

I feel your pain on the botched recovery process. I paid for a non-TPLO surgery on my dog's left left a couple years ago. I disregarded the instructions NOT to let him run and go up and down steps. It caused damage, as you can imagine, and in the meantime, his OTHER leg started going bad. This was $3500, as well as much stress, all for nothing. Fast forward to 10 days ago, I just had bilateral TPLO done on him. I will be following the recovery instructions to a T this time!

@@coach-kimmy I definitely understand. So, when i paid for the first surgery, I got advice from google and from non-vet experts. This is how i ended up with the surgeon that I did. After consulting with my vet, I was informed that the surgeon that did the non-TPLO surgery should not have been performing that surgery. In a nice way, they said he was a quack. I ended up, on the vets recommendation, having the surgery performed by a surgeon that well-know, well-established and respected in this particular field. i'm only on day 10, and we're just taking it slow, but I remain hopeful. Point of the story, we love our 4 legged friends, but we don't always make the wisest decisions. We need to try to correct them. BTW, I paid $7300, all in, for this bilateral TPLO (double acl).

This is heartwarming to see, thank you so so much for sharing!! I tried to find in the recovery videos/comments, but can't tell which surgery option Stella got. Was it the Extracapsular Lateral suture (ELSS) or the (TPLO) Tibial Plateau leveling surgery - or a different procedure? And did she have a full CCL tear or any meniscus breakage? I'm deciding now, so these videos are very helpful and rewarding to see a great success when all the right precautions are taken. Hi Shawn , Stella had a full tear , If I had to do it all over again. I would do the better surgery. Only because she loves to run and play hard. So she can’t really do that so much, I just let her run and play hard chasing a tennis ball with her brother Duke. Now she is back to limping again. I also made such a big mistake when she first got that fishing line put in, a day after her surgery she followed me up the steps, I wish I would’ve thought I had to put a gate at the steps I didn’t even think of it. I didn’t think she would follow me at the steps because she was in so much pain. I forgot to put the gate up at the steps , because she was passed out sleeping. I was sick, and then I had to carry her down those steps. It definitely messed her leg up more. It blew up like a balloon that also could be the reason why she still limps today after she runs and plays hard. Another big mistake I made was feeding her to much and giving her to many treats. Lol I have her on a strict diet now. It’s so amazing how much you can love a dog. When they hurt you hurt. Anyway thank you for your kind words. I hope this helps.
