Tula is so sweet, she likes finding her own space for playtime, don’t we all.

Our dog has fear aggression especially with larger breeds ..she was adopted from a shelter she was dropped off half starved in active labor. Both pups died ..we cured her of food aggression in 3 days... .its almost like Im gonna get you before you get me...with smaller dogs she wants to go over pulls aggressively she says hello sniff buts and moves on ...yes we had a great trainer who recommended desensitizing her..but lately because of my husbands failing health Parkinsons we cant get out as much...i guess i just need to make time for her to avoid bigger problems..our trainer said she doesnt have to like everyone but she has to tolerate them..she is fearful of strangers but adores two older ladies in our neighborhood.. She really is sweet otherwise when home she can pick up husbands dropped items cell,pens,t.v remote, drink bottles, when hubby is in his hospital bed or wheelchair she lays on his chest if he is having severe tremors it's the sweetest thing its like they help each other to not be as afraid. I have a little chihuahua mix. She would stress out with fireworks. I started holding her, talking to her gently; just like you would comfort a frightened child. It took a few times but she now just takes it in stride.

Our Mastiff ,this ones a male , puts his 190 pound body in the strangest position and tail between legs, but other times he’s very sociable. I think either they smell things ,they don’t like ,but sometimes dogs just don’t like people. 90% he’s fine at dog park. But other times I think he’s feeding off others fear . He wouldn’t Hurt a flea. I fell in love with Tula the first time I saw her. I love her name as well.

Because she's so gentle and polite. So lovely! You could also try l-theanine, which is non drowsy but very calming.

Other dogs being aggressive is most likely due to when during the whole covid thing, people were just getting dogs as an excuse to go outside. Many of them were dogs in shelters with behavioral problems and the new owners didn't take that into consideration and weren't training and working with them properly. Then when it got to be too much they either took them back, sold them or abandoned them because they dint want to put in that much effort. Got myself a puppy in December 2020. First ever puppy. Knowing fully that it wold be work and had no prior experience training a dog. It was a lot more work than expected (especially her chewing everything and before she was potty trained she would chew the disposable potty pads or pick the one area that wasn't covered lol) and while I'm still working on some things with her at a year and a half old, she is worth it. Very sweet girl. A little crazy sometimes though lol. The issue I have is that when she was little she would be nervous around new dogs but she would eventually start to play a little with them by chasing and being chased but only after gettingto know them for a few days first. Then I took her to one of my mom's friends house that had 3 dogs. Well they all proceeded to surround and chase her to the point where she hid under my car and her claws broke open and started bleeding because she was trying so hard to get away. Once I got her out from under the car she only wanted to be near me, to the point where she was trying to climb me to get to safety. That was around 7 months old. It was a few more months until she was around another dog again. Now her fur stands up and she growls, barks and lunges at other dogs but won't get closer than 5 feet away and when another dog comes up to her, she runs away. I don't worry about her biting or anything unless she gets trapped somewhere, then she might. She just has that bad habit of acting aggressive towards other dogs and people in my apartment building and I'm trying my best to get her to stop barking but she is my little guard dog I guess. Sometimes she will bark when she even hears another person outside and when I can get her to stop, she just comes and sits next to me with her back to me, growling and giving quiet woods like she is protecting me lol

Maybe Tula's an introvert? Not all dogs rejoice in playing and socializing with other dogs and that is fine too. She's happy with familiar dogs like Peppe who's safe to play with and she seams happy about that. At 5:55-6min at the end of the vid you can tell Tula's feeling that CBD grogginess lol, she can barely keep her eyes open LOL. She's truly a sweet heart :)

She sounds like a bit of an insecure dog.. You just need to build her confidance up. Meeting a dog she knows was a great idea! She def needs more dog interactions, thats the only thing that will help her be more comfortable and confident around other dogs. Tula is absolutely adorable! 🙈 Great video:)

Hey hi... i am from india.. i have a male golden retriever of 10 months.. since 3 months he has not been able to use his hind legs and now recently from 3 days he has been limping... i am not able to understand his condition. He has difficulty in getting up.. and while sleeping he sleeps on his back...he has been yelping while waking up in the morning and sometimes in the middle of the day... i could really get that he has been suffering with something and with great pain.. i am not able to get him...please help sir

My dog is the opposite if she sees a dog she goes at them as off she wants to attack. She won't hurt anything but because she is big people think she is going to hurt their dog I get so frightened if I let her off the lead. I can't catch her in time. Is there anything I can try to stop her. Her daughter don't do it. I have tried everything I can think of.

Thank you for this video, I have two dogs. Ivy 7 and Hollie 4. Hollie is afraid of big dogs but she acts tougher than she is in hope that they go away and often it works (obviously, as who wants an annoying little fluffy dog barking at theirs) but she isn't afraid of little white coloured dogs like Maltese, poodles, bichon etc. Those she loves! So I will try CBD oil to see it it helps calm her down. My other dog Ivy is usually very good with other dogs on her own, but she will often feel like she must back up Hollie it seems. And once, a few years ago, she blocked another dog from attacking Hollie. I have got some CBD that I've used for helping around other stressful situations. So I'll give this a try.

Thank you for all your work! Can you do a video about hot spots and natural remedies? My Aussie has a spot on his neck. And is extremely itchy around his "tail" area. (Yes, he is Bob tail. But base of tail area) He is not chewing his paws. Thank God! But his rumpus driving him crazy! No fleas. So I suspect more hot spots. Thanks!

I have to use a muzzle,head harness nightengale collar and a harness. Hes been bit twice. Attacked 4 times.

Your wonderful vet i only deal with behavior issies after these things happen. Ive learnt over years of training dogs that if a dog is attacked for some reason instead of the attacked dog becoming more submissive/ wary - they usually & often do become the aggresser socially. Maybe its because they think its better to have a go first instead of taking a chance. The mistake i usually see is people walking & avoiding other dogs after - which is totally wrong thing to do. Most important thing i discovered was to get them walking with lots of other dogs asap. Obvipusly for safety to the other dogs you will need to muzzle - but only required until you see confident happy body language reappear. So please use one initially though. Can take up to 4 to 6 months to cure (but it works) & eventially your dog will regain its confidence & sociability again without the aggressive fear to the point it can safely run free with others again. A whistle and a bottle with little stones in is a great deffuser for bad situations. Only needs pockets to take with you. Behavioral training at home is simple with dogs regarding training - reward good behavior - and ostridise for bad behavior. Keep dogs on floor when people espesially children are around as this defines pack placement. Hope this helps.

There could be so many factors involved in this and I just thought of another one to add.....what if it's the OTHER DOGS that are the problem? Who knows what type of stress they are facing at home due to "lockdown" and their humans may not be able to provide the best home care at this time and those dogs ACT OUT their built up frustrations as soon as they get to go out on a walk and then they see a smaller docile dog and take advantage of the situation in order to relieve their own inner demons. Kinda like a bully kid at school will pick on someone "weak" and we think the kid being picked on needs to change (and maybe they do a little) but it may be more important to realize that the kid bully most likely has a miserable home life and when they pick on others it is the only way they can get relief from stress caused at home they have no control over.

If Tula is giving off weak energy and a lack of confidence other dogs will pick on her as they see it as weakness. She need to build confidence through training and being around neutral dogs. As you say Counter conditioning. Please find neutral dogs you know to be safe. Keep on doing what you are. Teaching tricks builds confidence Dr Jones, doesn't matter what tricks. Good luck. Hey doc, I need some help with my dog's behaviors. His behaviours are rather too complex to compare to other dog training stories. My dog discriminates particular kind of dogs because he had a set of repeated bad experiences. For instance, a young shepherd jumped on my sister and knocked her over. My dog got frantic and got in between, trying to protect my sister. Apparently, it happened twice and my dog is now aggressive* towards ALL shepherds and shepherd-looking dogs. I tried calming him down, being friendly to the other dog to show there's nothing to fear, tried to distract him, and pretty much everything! Absolutely no improvement. This is just one example of his selective aggressive behavior. He is a pug and he is a softie, but he just won't let go of any grudge. As well, his aggression is now towards large black dogs too! What should I do? *(Not from fear/anxiety, but from genuine intention to fight)

Great info on using CBD. Teaching tricks and basic obedience can work wonders with dogs that are scared as well. I have done the basics and tricks with dogs that were dog scared and after a month they no longer were scared. Teaching tricks and basics helps boost your dogs confidence and also increases the communication and trust between you and your dog, which will also help your dog to not be scared. I would have done idea 3 before 2. I also suggest for step 2 to go to dog parks where other dogs are behind a fence to make sure your dog is safe or find 2 yards with chain link fence. Or just knock on doors of your neighbors that have dogs and ask if you can walk your dog in front of the fence. Sorry I am very cautious when it comes to dogs. I hope this information helps you and some of your viewers.

My dog tries to attack other dogs. I don't know why. I took him to the dog park for the first year and a half of his life and he loved it. One day he started attacking other dogs and has been that way ever since. He isn't just barking, he's dangerously trying to attack them.

Its funny my poor pup likes everyone and everything some dogs just don't like him recently he had a small socialization with another dog it was a shih Tzu and my Shar-Pei just went up to the dog gave a little sniff of the dog and the shih Tzu just went crazy my shar pei took a couple of nips and hits from the shi Tzu and my dog just stood there and took it smiling I had my dog try a couple more times but that shi Tzu just didn't want anything to do with my dog. I don't think I ever really came across a friendly shi Tzu every one of those little shits seem to have this aggressive streak about them. Some dogs at least like like my dog
