Hi Allen! I've been following your channel for almost 2 years now and we're expenting our first litter! My question is, do you reccomend a shave or trimming the hair around mamas belly before welping? Our Irish setter is due any day and although I've read that she should lose some hair, she still has very long hair around belly.

It won’t hurt! The main thing is the pups have easy access to mommas nipples. Ours usually get a trim at the 30 day mark when we go in for ultrasound to verify the breeding. 👍

Does the sire have to be kept away from dam and puppies ??

This varies from dog to dog. We generally let the Dam be the judge of this. She will let you and Sire know when it’s OK to visit the pups. For the first 2 weeks we keep our stud away from the litter. After that it’s supervised visits only. Never at feeding time. Food aggression will get a puppy hurt fast. 👍

I noticed you use kibbles n bits. Do they have it for puppies also? I could only find it for adults.

If you breed a yellow and chocolate together you can sometimes get 'dudley' Labradors. You cannot show dudleys for confirmation. I currently own an AKC Dudley Labrador.
