I know exactly what you mean - I only talk to dog owners (and their dogs, of course!), when I'm out & about now. I used to be so scared of them as a child. The dog my ex-father's 2nd wife got him after his heart attack changed everything. Mac, I miss you, so much! He was the best dog I ever met. So funny & loving. Not all too dissimilar to Huxley's personality. Cats are cool, but dogs RULE!

We adopted a Beagle who became my unofficial seizure alert and assistance dog. We think she learned by watching my husband care for me during and after a seizure. She is extremely smart!

I’d say it’s the heart of the dog. My Charlie, he KNOWS I’m not okay. He found my cancer before I did, saved me when I passed out, told me when I was going to seize, comforted me when I cried - he’s a Pittie. Love is just love.

Goldies are just wonderful! When I was pregnant with my daughter, it was our Goldie Molly that let us know something was wrong. She was usually very laid back. I don't think I've ever seen her even growl at someone until one day when she growled at my mom for getting too close to me. That whole day, she was MUCH more clingy than usual. I wasn't feeling too great, which was normal as I was high risk and had that severe severe morning sickness. When Molly growled at my mom, we knew it was more serious than we originally thought. When I got to the hospital, my bp was 60/40. Turns out I had a bacterial infection that pregnant women sometimes get, and if I had waited any longer to go to the hospital, my daughter would've been still-born within the following 24 hours. Molly Dolly saved my daughters life. When she was born 2 months later, she and Molly became best buddies. It was so cute. Molly would follow her everywhere when we visited my mom.

You just reminded me of the film "A Dog's Purpose" - I love that film, and "The Art Of Racing In The Rain", waaaahhhh!!! :0(

Hey for quick info the dogs you’re talking about are not service dogs but are instead comfort or therapy dogs. These two are very different and therapy dogs are not always allowed in non pet friendly places as they have no public access protection. If you want to find out more there’s many resources available on either the ADA website or the ADUK website.

That would be a therapy dog not a svc dog

My Aunty was in a home in a country area, they had chooks, rabbits, and a couple of goats as most came from a life on farms, and they loved them. They used to argue over whose turn it was to feed them, some would even sneak out some of their own food. 😅

I think that’s such a great idea to have dogs at nursing homes. Especially since many had to give up pets to move in for their own care.

I’ve seen/read so many stories about how someone was feeling so awful and really contemplating doing something to themselves but someone smiled at them, or held the door, or said something nice about their outfit or hair style or anything and they felt noticed and that’s all they needed to snap out of what they were feeling that day. Ever since then I’ve made it an effort to make eye contact and smile and say have a nice day or whatever happens to fit the situation. Even standing, waiting for an order at a restaurant/cafe, smiling at people, or just talk about the weather, anything that lets them know they are noticed. Obviously I don’t know if I ever changed someone’s outlook unless they would say ‘Thank you! I needed that today!’, which I have gotten said to me a few times, but I will never stop spreading kindness or smiles just for that reason…..you just never know. And this fur baby gets it!!🥰🥰🥰 It truly seems like he is so loved at home that he has much to spread to others! ❤

Unfortunatly some ppl. fight with allergies. But if you discover the origin of your allergie(s) you will find out it starts with your parents not allow you to do things like kids should do: beeing in the nature, eating dirt, meet animals. Sry. But this is why you are suffering on allergies. Your immune system is weak, because of it have never learned to resist on nature things.

Well not quite usually, and it does work better when from an animal as we know they have no real agenda (apart from some love/pets themselves or food) but someone just being nice and respectful goes a long way to helping society in general!

I completely agree. We never know what that stranger in line at CVS, or anyone we encounter on any given day, is dealing with. As a civilized people, we have to at least ‘try’ to lift up our brothers and sisters around us! Imagine what they’re potentially going through…grief and sorrow, hopeless despair, loss of a loved one and ill health…you know. And yes, a smile their way, or a “how ya doin today?” could indeed go a long way. These seemingly trivial moves might have a big impact, and may even be that glimmer of hope that gets someone through the night. I don’t think that’s hyperbole at all. It’s common sense. It’s the golden rule: “do unto others as you would have them do unto you". But also, dogs are one of the best things going! I feel ya there. Cheers, all!

Your life, even. In the US, the big nationally known kid’s cancer center will often supply emotional support dogs when the patient goes home. I know three of those kids in my community would not have survived cancer without those dogs. Amazing animals.
