And nails. Many accidents dogs has on them
@ladymercy52753 жыл бұрын
@@MagdaLena7 This is the correct response. With the way their feet grow *especially considering their nail structure* canines of all sorts cannot walk on escalators. They _cannot,_ it's literally like a trying to walk on a freshly mopped linoleum floor while wearing silk socks for us, that's how it is for them. Or ice skates. If you've never seen your legs go limp beyond your control, you haven't fallen down on ice enough times to be judging on others. You can actually see the dog's own surprise, like _"what the heck is my body is doing?"_ Also, this same technique can be used to defend against wild dogs. Scattered branches work to an extant; if their feet can't find secure purchase, their spine (and consequently tail) goes limp before their brain has anything to say about it. It's their spine that the other dogs watch for confidence. instinctually they _cannot_ find the balance to move on untestable ground; it's beyond merely finding confidence to try, doesn't work that way. And I'm pretty sure humans are the same way, we just have a shoes and a more solid foot-ground relationship with nature to begin with. Please keep this in mind if you ever think to punish your beasts for not being 'brave' enough to walk on escalators. Doesn't work that way.
@ladymercy52753 жыл бұрын
I'll add as a side note that they can learn to kind of 'fall' off it, which is not quite the same as walking on escalator, but it's cool because you can still their spine losing voluntary control if your dog manages to cross weird, unnatural terrain in urban environments, and how that affects their retractable claws. Note: it's a myth that dogs " ' don't ' " have retractable claws, they do, the same way that humans have webbed fingers. Which is to say, less than some animals, more than others. The important bit is that its musculature does indeed flex or bend in a way that scrapes against their skin, and that this interfaces with their autonomic nervous system in a way that makes walking escalators the kind of sensation equivalent to what you get when you scrape your nails against a chalk board. Same exact evolutionary pattern, different degrees of how that affects your central nervous system in response to realizing your body is not entirely under your control when it comes to the sensation of scraping the skin off your cuticles, to such a degree that just the _sound_ of it makes your spine go limp. That's basically what it's like being a dog, in this scenario.
@TheMelvinpanda3 жыл бұрын
@@ladymercy5275 wowee you seem like a whole lotta fun
@zlozlozlo3 жыл бұрын
@@ladymercy5275 the real danger for dogs on escalators is at the end, when the step goes under the landing platform plate. The dog's claws can get caught between the two plates, which will instantly rip off the claw along with a piece of the toe. This will typically require surgery and will leave the dog with permanent damage. Always carry your dog on an escalator.

My youngest dog is scared of stormwater drains for some unknown reason lol. When I take them for a walk, he avoids drains & all costs, & if I try to take him close to one he just completely stops & won't move.

@victorious2763 жыл бұрын
It makes sense why the dog's scared. A dog's paw can easily get stuck in an escalator, and that can be dangerous and disastrous. Please don't force your dog to stand on an escalator if they're scared! 😢🐕🐩
