I'm using this brace on my dog now, it's early days at the moment. I put it on while he is active during the day and on walks, with a restriction in his athletic activities and anti inflammatory medicine,and supplements there is an improvement . Just have to be patient and stick to it. It's taken off for rest times and during the night. You just have to be gentle calm and give positive reasuring energy when putting it on and removing it. The only draw back is ,when he lifts his leg to pee, he finds it difficult to balance and nearly falls over. This is because of the strap that goes under his belly, he can't get his legs far enough apart. But is getting used to it. Hopefully this will help him heal preventing it from getting worse and needing an operation.

That would be so painful for an injured dog that isn't drugged up.

Fyi; if you are putting this on an injured canine ,you will need 2 people. My brothers canine is 120lb lab. I tried to put it on alone ,no way.
