Thank you! I've shared this before, but it's worth mentioning again. My dog had a small stick puncture in between his toes. I was unaware of this, until I saw him licking his paw. It was red and looked like it was getting infected. I started using colloidal silver on it. I also soaked his paw in warm water with sea salt to draw out the infection. I was able to push the stick out. I put drops of collodia silver in the hole. This cleared up the infection and he healed beautifully. I love this stuff for treating flu symptoms, sinus infections, pink eye for myself. It works wonders with infections with my cat who has upper respiratory issues.

Hey the vet told me to do an epsom salt soak for my dog (she split a nail) and when I asked for proportions of epsom salt to water they said make like ocean water. Another youtuber said 1 cup for 3.8 litres or a gallon. I will be doing this tonight and soaking a face cloth and holding it over dog nail for five mintues...but no where can I find a demonstration. Can you do a demonstration. If one happens after the 2:43 mark I apologize in advance as I have to go do this before i don't and I am cutting out from watching at this mark so I will get it done...but for later could you please demonstrate...if it's not in this video? Dr. Jones do we pick just one of these treatments? My dog had a nail injury not last summer but the summer before. It fell out, didn’t grow back for a year and now grows in brittle. I can tell it bothers her. My vet said to use clotrimazole cream once a day for 3 weeks but since she can’t lick it to keep a surg collar on her. Lol she won’t allow that, she BARELY allowed it (it was a huuuge fight) for a week with her mast cell cancer tumor removal. (Which was low grade thank the Lord.) Which treatment would you recommend the most for her issue? Thank you so much if you can answer!!!

My 12 year old mini poodle has her "pinky" nail on her left foot growing straight up It started at an angle and is now completely straight up. I have taken her to her vet twice ( he is an older vet- doesn't believe in too much medicine. He says it is fine. He has clipped her nails both visits ( usually we would take to pet smart). What are the reasons that this could happen- and what can be done? For the record, her nails are short- not overgrown. She is a dog that "doesn't say "ow" so if there is any pain, it is hard to gauge. Thank you.

I’m trying to learn how far to cut GSD nails when some have become dry almost hollowed at the ends. They are to long, so I’m trimming a little at a time. He has had allergies, was in antibiotics for secondary infection, now seems to have developed yeast infection. He responded to a bath w/antibacterial, anti yeast soap all over body so I’m going to avoid oral antibiotics from now on. Mild pinkness in between toes, one irritated area I dabbed cream on. I’m going to start rinsing feet off as he comes in and keep them dry limit his licking. But back to the question: one foot has nails that seems dry, thin hollowed underneath. I just found your channel and will be watching more. Thank you for the info in this video I plan to try your ideas to avoid the oral antibiotics. BTW he had no skin allergies before he was neutered at 18 months. ☹️

I've been dealing with chronic yeast infections in my fur baby for over 8 years now. I avoided the vet but if you have a large non-compliant dog it's impossible to treat with anything but oral medication. Attempting to soak Four Paws for 5 minutes twice a day again just cannot be done. With that said turning to the vet for help with antibiotics and antifungals didn't work either. I'm at the point where I am absolutely lost and would give anything to not have to watch my poor dog constantly licking and chewing on his feet. The only thing that offers him any relief is sedation and of course that's not an option. I'm desperately searching for what is causing him to overproduce deceased and have not been able to find an answer anywhere. If anyone in the comment section seems to have found a solution that will be useful to me please let me know. Thank you. I have tried all of the good doctors suggestions and they don't seem to work for Luke.

Hello Dr. Jones, I have a 22 month old labradoodle, who is healthy and very active. We live by the water and she swims almost daily. I groom her myself, which she's great about, and she dislikes but usually cooperates with nail trims. She licks and chews at her nails at times, and recently has begun to yelp intermittently when I begin to apply pressure to trim a nail (it's not always the same nail, but the one she is chewing at at the time). She's okay for the other nails but gets nervous in anticipation of more discomfort. I brought her to the vet previously, and she didn't detect anything, but Kai was very uncooperative with the exam. I may try some of your holistic treatments, since they can only help, but any thoughts as to what this might be? thank you so very much!!

It sounds like yeast to me. I'm sure you've investigated and if it is have found this out already. I hope for your sake it's not because my fur buddy has had problems with yeast in his feet all his life. He's now eight and it seems to be getting worse with age. Because it's so uncomfortable they become very non-compliant so any type of topicals or soaking can be almost impossible. I found the only way to treat them was with antibiotics, antifungals or both but as a senior dog they just don't seem to be working anymore. If this is the case and you happen to have come up with something please let me know and I will do the same.

Hi there doctor, I've been soaking my dogs paw with water and some white vinegar solution, then applying some Neosporin ointment on the affected nail for about a week, but when I stopped it came back. Any comments if vinegar is good?

The vinegar may be helping but needs to be applied for two to four weeks.

My dog continues to find ways to eat his toe after a nail infection. I believe it’s infected again. The skin around his toe is also raw and looks like a crushed raspberry. Is it safe to soak it in black tea even though his toe has an open wound ?

Hey doc! My 2 yr old pup has got what looks like a paronychia... Been working on it for 3 days now, doesnt seem to be showing big improvement... I know you said 7 to 14 days... but is there a point at which I should go ahead with the antibiotics if I dont see improvement? Also how do I pick which soak is best? Between the black tea and the green tea/vinegar im leaning toward black tea since im worried the vinegar will sting his raw skin... thoughts?
@VeterinarySecrets
@VeterinarySecrets 4 жыл бұрын
Yes the black tea is less irritating. I would consider antibiotics now.

I was thinking about using an aloe gel with colloidal silver mixture. I am assuming that i could just apply this and if he licks it... no harm. Also, do you use colloidal silver ingested as an antibiotic?
@VeterinarySecrets
@VeterinarySecrets 4 жыл бұрын
Good idea. I suggest only using colloidal silver topically, although many people to give it to their pets orally

It appears to be a success. No more licking and gnawing. The burgandy-ish discoloration of the nail is going away. I would apply it around the base of the nail with a Q-tip.

@@laurieanne2791 I went to a colloidal silver gel with aloe vera - two good things in one - with Q-tips but the problem persisted. DOUXO Chlorhexidene Mousse from the vet takes care of occasional occurrences. I rub it in good and he stops licking.

I figured out that my 2 1/2 yr old German Shepherd has SLO or Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy. The people we got her from as a pup recommended giving her a clove of RAW garlic daily w dinner, but I never did because I was afraid to. Would this be okay in lieu of the Allicin you showed? I believe she needs it, as tetracycline is normally given as an antibiotic & I would prefer to go naturally if that's safe. Also recommended for SLO is Vitamin E & Omega 3 & 6. How much Vitamin E (60lbs) and could I substitute a sardine or two daily for the omegas? Hope you can answer because the local vets are both expensive & worthless. Thanks Dr. 😊
