When I was a kid we had a dog that would ring our doorbell sometimes. There were narrow windows beside the door so he would lean on the wall and look in while he pushed the button. I also saw him climb a ladder on several occasions. Brilliant lab

There is no such thing as a "dumb animal". They are masters of observation. One of my dogs knew when, if I was on the phone, I was close to the end of conversation. She would be still then all of sudden get up and come over to me. She also could go out of the back screen door using the latch and would let me know, by 20 minutes, when my friend was coming by, without him having called me. She did those things and more! She was an amazing and highly intelligent Staffordshire Pit Bull. May she rest in peace.
