This video was perfect timing. We took our 14 year golden retriever to the vet several weeks ago, and he was given an injection (which was quite expensive), which did work. However, just yesterday we noticed he was biting himself again and had an open wound. So, I happened to have all 4 ingredients and made a batch last night. I was amazed this morning that our dog no longer is itching, and the wound appears to be healing. Thanks so much!

Thank you for your videos. So helpful. I tried your formula you presented in this video (minus the copabai oil as I didn't have any). My dog has a lot of immune system problems which all started about 3 years ago from over vaccination (I had no idea at the time and trusted my then vet that yearly boosters were necessary). Anyway, I believe the concentration of tea tree oil in your recipe may have been a bit too much for her as her irritated skin turned blood red. I washed it off with warm water and later applied coconut oil with a little lavendar essential oil which seems to be helping. She's a weird little one... if something can happen, it will happen to her!

Thank you Dr. Jones I ♥️ Tula. She is gracious and well trained. My Coco is a sweet female Pomeranian Coco will not stay put in one place for a second.🧐 I ❤️ her so much I’m researching for home made food recipe . She suffers of recurrent urinary track infections. Had two bladder surgeries containing stones. She almost had the third surgery. She was able to expel five pebbles last week. Coco is a brave dog. 3 AM I was with her when she was going through the process of expelling the stones out of her body. I do not trust anymore the special diets Why, well because I have no answers on why is the cause of this recurring urinary track infections. Anyway thank you Dr. Jones for all your advice God bless you! Norma

Hi- struvite most commonly forms secondary to a recurrent bladder infection. Best options.. 1. canned/home diet with additional moisture 2.Primarily animal protein to acidify urine 3. Cranberry juice and honey to treat the infection

Doc you have mentioned in prior clips that you would show the over counter names of the medicines that you recommended in presents, but I see them appearing. In the transcripts that follow some names that appear, the recording does not always appear, or it machinery dose not pick up the word, or types what it. Perhaps you could list the items in a column for. Thanks for great advice, an service!

Hi there. Thank You for the video. I have an older chihuahua that recently began itching a lot and also noticed that she was biting and licking the end of her tail to the point that she made a bald spot. Took her to her "Pediatrician" that treated her with pills for itching. Seemed to be ok after a few days. She didn't seem to be licking at it as much and the hair even started to grow back. Then yesterday.... BAM! A new bald spot AND a little bloody on top.. not really "bleeding" but just like a bloody spot soooooo collar went back on and gave her a pill last night before bed and again this morning. I am going to try this now as I am big into EO's and already have all these but hubby heading to store for the green tea bags. My question is: Does this concoction go bad after a certain length of time? If so... how long do you recommend keeping it? Thanks so much. Anxiously awaiting a reply back. Have a Blessed Day and ty again for helping us with your videos!

Thank you for this recipe hopefully it will work. My cocker has such bad hot spots all over under his arms and neck and belly. It started this past summer and it had to be the high heat and humidity that caused it. I have bathed him in medicated shampoos taken him to the vet ( they didn't know what it was I learned this from you). I think they just wanted us to keep coming back they prescribed a 2 week course of antibiotics and it made it worse.I feel so bad for the little guy he is such a trooper and he can't even reach the areas to link so it is not caused by licking the hot spots are just erupting all over him. I did find that coconut oil worked on one of the back legs so I will try that again.

Thank you Dr Jones. I've also used to treat demodex mange a mixture in 1 liter bottle. Half bottle of Apple cider vinegar, half bottle of water, with 5 to 10 different choices of essential oils.... lavender, peppermint, or lemon. I use so much because I use this mix on my 3 large dogs. And I make a bottle for my neighbor's dogs too.

Veterinary Secrets , yes it has worked very well. Only have to use this treatment at least once in morning and once at night. Or if you treat dogs entire body once a day for 2 to 3 weeks if they have demodex mange. Between treatment of the Apple cider vinegar and water. Bath the dog well and smooth coconut oil all over their body to help sooth the itch. Best use for coconut oil is 3 times a week. Not daily due to dogs nature oils will not help fight off the demodex. This is what I found.

Thank you for this recipe. We have been to the vets three times and our old girl keeps coming down with this awful spot on the top of her tail. You can't wrap it easily. We need to change her diet to a grain free one. I love all these oils. However, a question on the tea tree oil. What I have learned is that tea tree oil shouldn't be used on dogs. Is it alright in this recipe because there are only a minimum of drops in the mixture?

Lorraine Wheeler according to what I found on Amazon for all pets use 3 times per day, give 1 drop for every 2 pounds of body weight up to 50 pounds.plus 1 drop for every 4 pounds of body weight over 50 pounds . This is in tincture form. Tincture s maybe mixed with food, applied by mouth with either a dropper or a syringe directly into the mouth,or mixed with up to 1/2 of warm water. I don't know what it would be in a pill form since you might have to ask your vet on this.

Dr. Jones, what could possible be underlying cause of a reddish tint to her ear flap. Her ears are clean, there is no odor. It doesn’t bother her and she doesn’t refuse to allow me to clean or treat her ears. She doesn’t scratch or dig at it. She loves her ears played with and that is how she gives us the “hint” she wants us to massage her ears by flipping at it with her paw. But she has done this since I brought her home from breeders I have used lavender oil in a carrier oil and used a roller to apply. It is just the one ear, the other is an normal whitish color. Would this recipe help? I have used essential oils on her to clean her ears. But this redness boggles me. It might be helpful to your video viewers to remember to put any mixture of oil in a tinted container like brown or blue to keep quality of oil .

Be very wary of Amazon. There are too many people trying to make a quick buck and selling fake products that look like the real thing. I'll bet someone in your Facebook friends distributes it (I am not a distributor- I just understand some of the tricks of buying supplements, etc). Just ask and they'll come to you- lol (the dangers of asking starving distributors- it's a little annoying bc of the aftershocks of follow-up, but it'll get you what you need)

Please stay away from plastic. Essential oils are highly volatile and react to the many chemicals in plastic. The result is not what you want to introduce to infected, inflamed painful tissue. Also UV light breaks down EOs faster so amber colored glass is best

Sir, I made a huge mistake last July. I let my dog go swimming at Syringa. He is an eight year old Sheltie. So I know skin conditions are common in the breed. I had them check his thyroid two years ago during the last infection. Two years ago he went swimming there and contacted duck itch. He seemed to have an allergic reaction to it. The bite area became black, circular in shape and then this scab dropped off. In the center it was a very red hole and quite stinky. Like a wet Malmute. Soon his body had many of these spots. Black scabby areas about three quarters of an inch in size. I spent two months bathing him every second day, as the vet advised, then he was placed on antibiotics and after three runs of them his skin was better. Now..this time it is April 2018 I have been battling it this time for eight months. I used Betadine and managed to get rid of it from underarms, back, tail and neck. The tail was worst. It developed a secondary infection like very bad dandruff and an area on the tail was encased in a circle of angry red open bites and heavy scaling. I, at that time used a human shampoo for psoriasis and it cleared the scaly problem up. It is now only concentrated on his groin area. Looks like he has a hundred or so blackheads in the area. If I am not vigilant these pores produce something that looks like coffee grounds that drop off and end up on the bottom of his feet where they turn into a circular pattern of black and the cycle begins again. His skin is becoming flaky in spots also. Underarms and hind inner legs. He is on a fish based dog food and I have added a teaspoon of olive oil in it now to see if that will help. I have been washing halters, bedding, and dog for eight months. The past three I have been using viaderm. If I attempt to stop using it it flares horribly. I am sooo afraid it will exacerbate and I will be back at square one with a black scabby dog. The vet refused to put him on antibiotics. Which I can understand. Super bugs. She finally did last week. As soon as I stopped using the cream the areas started on his inner back leg again. Obviously wrong antibiotic since the condition is going backwards again. Spending a lot of money with my poor dog not getting better. And now he is sliding backwards. I have spent countless hours researching the net and came across the idea of using sulfur lime dip. An old idea I know. But...very tired here. And his skin is drying out and flaking from the stupid baths. Will this recipe you have here help?

Well... I am not a vet. But if you have soooo much trouble and its coming back and again, repetetive problem, I would assume that natural balance of skin and hair has crashed and natural protection is not working any more. What I would do... I would clip my dog during a year, keep it as short and dry as possible, so it cant get a single hot spot. And then I would allow the hair grow back next year, slowly. Not very hairy at start. And then, if we have no problems, I would leave it to nature. Also, I would consider raw food. And what I noticed with cleaning ears... The ear cleaning liquid doesnt stay just in the ear. Dog lets it out (its ok). But it stays near/under the ear in hair, then. And we get hot spot under the ear then! I wish someone told me to dry it off before, or to be super cautious.

I like your approach. But maybe it should be noted that owners need to be careful with tea tree, as it is very poisonous to dogs. If they apply drops of tea tree in areas where the dog can leak it, they can get sick, and they will not know why they are vomiting and sad. It happened to my dog, until I understood what caused it. Even just a few drops alone can be harmful, but maybe it is ok when it is diluted in that amount of green tea, as in your solution. Thank you for your recipe.

Hi Leo- yes the essential oils can have risks, but I am directing pet owners to only apply it diluted to 1-2% where then it is considered safe

Dr. Jones I've been researching hot spots for quite some time. We live in a very humid area of Costa Rica and unfortunately, our dog is paying the price with multiple hot spots. The veterinarians I have spoken with here attempted to dissuade me from using essential oils or even the black tea/aspirin method I learned from your videos. I have been shampooing our dog with a chlorhexidina shampoo and often using it topically. I think that the black tea/aspirin mixture with a few drops of lavender essential oil has really helped immensely. I am not taking their advice about this treatment. What I can't seem to find anywhere is an explanation of what the life cycle of hot spots is. My guess is that the red areas will scab over, the scabs will fall off and you keep those places clean. Can anyone confirm/deny this, please. Thank you.

Albert Soto We recently rescued 3 dogs that were covered in used motor oil. I couldn't figure out why it was on them. After bathing them and getting all the oil off, the reason became clear. Mange! The oil was killing the mites and protecting the skin. We then had to start the process of mange control.

@@kristajohnson9422 I agree... gets old after a while ya know? I mean... why don't they just click out and go to another video? I believe it's people that are home bound that cannot leave for whatever reason, maybe a disability and so aggravated with life that they just look around for videos to comment anything negative they can find because they are so miserable with life. I mean... the answer is simple.. you just click out.. but they cannot do that because that is what they are here for.. Sad they have nothing better to do. I just pray for them.
